Renegade Riddims: Jamezy

Share

Jamezy emerges as a youthful and promising talent in the realm of Drum & Bass production and DJing, hailing from Swindon, UK. His journey commenced with crafting hip-hop and rap beats right from his bedroom at a tender age. However, it was his older brother who introduced him to the captivating world of Drum & Bass and Jungle music.

His distinctive melodic sound resonates seamlessly throughout his productions. What truly sets him apart is his skillful integration of diverse vocals, setting him in a league of his own among fellow producers in the scene. Jamezy made his debut set for DnB Allstars when he was just 18 years old, and since then, he has taken his music to international stages, including captivating audiences in places like Barcelona. His performances have graced renowned venues such as The Warehouse Project, Tobacco Dock, Studio 338, and Printworks. Notably, he has been a consistent presence during the DnB Allstars ‘Caged Tour,’ leaving his mark on seven of the shows. This upcoming summer, his schedule includes highly anticipated shows like DnB Allstars Festival (more info on that here!), Tomorrowland, and Bassfest.

Jamezy embarked on his record-signing journey with DnB Allstars at the mere age of 17. His EP garnered a remarkable milestone of over 1 million streams on Spotify, a testament to his growing production prowess. As the years have unfolded, his production artistry has continued to flourish, culminating in a staggering 3 million streams on Spotify in 2022 alone. The pinnacle of his releases this year was the captivating track ‘Mi Familia,’ notably endorsed by Radio One DJ Charlie Tee, and it has since amassed over 300,000 streams. Collaborating closely with esteemed MCs Grima x Azza and Devilman, Jamezy’s creation ‘World Cup Riddim’ showcases the breadth of his production range. Departing momentarily from his signature melodic style, he delves into a more vivacious and upbeat dimension of Drum & Bass.

Jamezy’s upcoming releases include ‘Tune’ with Eksman & J Mulla which is coming in September closely followed by an EP, both coming on DnB Allstars Records.

Don’t forget to check out DnB Allstars Festival where Jamezy will be playing. The festival is scheduled for 17th September at Gunnersbury Park, London. More info and tickets can be found here!

Q&A:

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

Fresh, High Energy, Rolling Dnb. UK Grime/Drill Influenced, Exciting

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

I’d have to say my latest forthcoming single on DnB Allstars called “El Chapo” which is a collab with Eksman and J Mulla

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

The mix has a unique vibe to it using lots of my own production and tracks mixed with high energy drum and bass. This keeps the mix flowing and really defines the sound that you would hear in my live sets. It takes you on a journey of different unreleased tracks from myself to keep it fresh to the listener. This is also combined with music from some producers I’m really feeling at the moment.

Tell us about your next EP?

My next project is a very important and personal piece of work for me, this EP is a pivotal moment in the new sound I’ve been working on and pushing over the last year or so. This will be my 5th EP on DnB Allstars! It contains a mixture of vibes with lots of influences from various different genres but maintains a Jamezy vibe throughout each one. It’s also very special being able to collaborate with so many talented vocalists such as Eksman, J Mulla, Harry Shotta to name a few. The project contains two singles, one my most recent track “Hit The Floor” which was also released on DnB Allstars.

What have you got coming up?

Coming up for the rest of this year I have a lot of exciting shows but one I’m particularly looking forward to is the DnB Allstars festival in September. This should be a wicked festival as the lineup is merging the old-school with the new school which is a big yes from me! It’s also my last festival of the season so is definitely going to be an emotional one but also fun.

In addition to this there are some DnB Allstars 360° x 30hz shows which are going to be a lot of fun! Merging the popular 360 degrees intimate vibes with pumping sound systems supplied from different brands. The first one to be announced is the Bristol Propyard x DnB Allstars which is set to sell out and will have a massive vibe with 4000 ravers in an intimate setting. I’m also playing b2b with one of my favorite up and coming producers/DJS T-Lex who is absolutely killing it right now. This will be our first time going b2b so will have a proper unique vibe. Following up from this leading into club season I have a lot of exciting shows, one in October supporting Pendulum which I’m extremely gassed for to be on a lineup with them! Lots more still to be announced as well but all will be revealed!

When was the last time you actually raved?

The last time I raved was earlier this summer at Hospitality on the Beach. After I played my set, me and my best mate went down to the festival for a few extra days (a last minute decision to book new flights a couple weeks before) to then rave in the sun and enjoy it.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

My final message is to just say a massive thank you to all the promoters, DJs, my label DnB Allstars and to anyone who has supported my music or me at my shows and of course the ravers 🙂
