The highly talented Danish and English duo Octavate return to Rollout Records with their new release ‘Fever Dream / Teeth n Lips’. This follows their impressive debut release ‘Blind in Space / Free Party’ back in August 2021.
Since then, they have continued to push the boundaries of Drum & Bass production and worked on cementing a unique sound, allowing them to stand out from an ever-growing pool of Drum & Bass artists. This release is a true reflection of their hard work and dedication as a duo who clearly haven’t let the 850 miles between them act as any form of barrier to their productivity.
More recently, the duo released a vibey single ‘Straight Up’ for popular label and events brand Jungle Cakes, showcasing their technical ability, this time with a cheeky Ragga twist in true Jungle Cakes style.
Octavate kick off their return to Rollout with ‘Fever Dream’ a forward-thinking track with some tight, aggressive rolling drums balanced perfectly with techy bass hits and experimental percussion. The track works wonders on keeping the listener’s ears stuck throughout, with clever progressive elements such as the beautifully warm sub which acts as a perfect teaser to the listener before they are once again introduced to the signature, punchy rolling drums. A prime example of one vibey Drum & Bass roller.
‘Teeth n Lips’ reflects the duo’s positive approach to experimentation and a desire to stand out from the crowd. A mysterious introduction leads into the ‘Teeth n Lips’ vocal sample followed by a steppy, industrial-sounding loop. In true Octavate style, no drop would be complete without a big switch and ‘Teeth n Lips’ does not disappoint. As the track switches into a heavy-hitting growling bassline, switches into a heavy-hitting growling bassline, it tightly twists into old-skool drums with a punchy snare, leaving the listener in awe and wondering where the track will take them next.
Today we premiere ‘Teeth n Lips’ which you can check out below. The release drops this Friday 17th June, make sure you grab a copy from here!
