New duo Octavate debut with ‘Blind In Space / Free Party’

Share

The Rollout Records crew once again showcase a fresh new emergence in Drum & Bass in the form of English and Danish duo Octavate with ‘Blind In Space / Free Party’. Perfectly timed with the re-opening of UK nightlife and the freedom to dance with friends again, this 2-tracker combines hard-hitting rolling drum work with trippy and stimulating samples ready to twist and turn the listener’s mind into a state of euphoria on the dancefloor.

Octavate consists of EXULT, a London-based producer and DJ, who teamed up with COOP, a Denmark-based life-long musician who has recently turned to Drum & Bass production and DJing. The two met at BASSCAMP in Portugal and attended for two years together before starting on their journey as a Drum & Bass duo.

BASSCAMP was no doubt an important starting point in their journey, receiving tuition from many great artists in the industry such as Current Value, ZeroZero, HumaNature, Molecular and June Miller, to name a few. With similar levels of experience, but in different aspects of Drum & Bass, they developed a combined skillset, fused with a mutual lust for exploration, experimentation and perfection, clearly evident in their debut release with Rollout Records. Whilst these are the first steps in Octavate‘s journey, countless hours of work have put the duo in great confidence in finally sharing their productions to the world.

‘Blind in Space’ is the first of two vibey tracks which form Octavate’s debut release. Space-themed FX are cleverly integrated into the intro to set the foundations, quickly leading into a trip-inducing vocal sample, inducing a sense of ‘floating into space’ in the listener’s mind. In true Octavate style, the track next turns to some super solid drum work and deep, dark variation in the bassline throughout, making this one perfect for keeping the audience in a state of suspense and disbelief.

‘Free Party’ continues this theme of trippy vocal samples, this time referencing the thoughts of ravers from a news report on the illegal party at Cadover Bridge, Dartmoor. Once again, tight rolling drums and strongly-varied dark growling bass shots form the basis for this track which in true free-party fashion, was made to make the speaker boxes rumble!

Today we premiere Octavate ‘Blind In Space’ which you can check out below! The 2 tracks drop via Rollout Records on 27th August, make sure you grab a copy from the purchase button beneath the Soundcloud player!
