Hiding the Truth of Saudi Involvement
By now everyone should realize we haven't been told the entire truth of 9/11. In a move to shed a bit more light on the subject, Congress is currently considering a bill to modify the immunity normally given to foreign governments. It says such immunity should not apply when nations are found responsible for committing terrorist attacks that kill Americans on US soil. The first country that would come under fire for such a bill would be Saudi Arabia and the kingdom's implicit or explicit role in the attack on 9/11.
President Obama has been campaigning members of Congress to stop the bill from passing, even threatening that if it were to pass he would veto it. But if the President works for the people, it would seem very odd that he would actively work to prevent the truth about 9/11 from coming out.
From his spokesman Josh Earnest:
The whole notion of sovereign immunity is at stake. It could put the United States, and our taxpayers, and our service members and our diplomats at significant risk, if other countries were to adopt a similar law.
That statement begs the question -- why would the US be put at risk if other countries passed a law looking to hold foreign governments accountable for their terrorist actions? One likely reason is because the US Gov is operating the largest terrorist organization on earth, and such a law would open us up to massive liability as US actions would be brought to light, something the government wants no part of.
A better solution would simply be to stop support supporting terrorists, but I digress.
Edit: On Wednesday (4/20) it was reported that Senator Lindsey Graham has placed this bill on hold so it will not reach the floor for a vote. His reasoning is exactly what I thought –
Some of our allies are a bit dubious. I want to make sure that because we find common ground in one area, we don’t own these people forever because of whatever they do.
He wants the US to be able to continue supporting terrorism overseas without actually being held liable for the actions that result of our support. People like Senator Graham represent a greater threat to US citizens' safety than ISIS and the other various terrorist groups.
