Cutting the Cable Cord is Painfully Close

I don't know about you, but I can't wait until the day I can cut the cable cord. With all the taxes, fees and other nonsense my cable bill is just about $150/mo, so when I heard Dish Network has made Sling TV available to the masses, I was psyched. For $20/mo (plus the cost of an internet connection) you get access to 17 cable channels, including ESPN, and you can watch them on nearly any electronic device. They also sell add-on packs of additional channels for $5/mo. I really like this concept of a-la carte TV that I hope will shape the future of television.

That's not to say their product is perfect, however. If you're an existing cable TV customer that watches broadcast TV, watches on more than 1 TV at a time, and/or loves his DVR, you'll be disappointed that Sling is currently missing all of those things.

While I won't be purchasing it just yet, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the service.
