A New Design

It's been a little over 1.5 years since I last updated the design of my site and I recently got the itch. So over the course of 3 or 4 nights last week I coded a new paint job for this site.

I call it SpringClean. I wanted something fresher, more open, and I felt springtime really fits that sentiment very well.

In coding this design I wanted to improve the site's usability, especially for link-type posts. To that end I moved the off-site links into a box below the post content instead of their previous position of taking over the post title. As a result the behavior of Post Titles matches better with people's expectations of clicking a title.
I removed the sidebar, which included removing the recent tweets, instagrams and social icons. In its place put links to those social networks in the site's footer. If you want to see my activity there, the best way to do so is to visit that particular site. My personal site never seemed like a great place to aggregate all that info.

I also removed the sharing icons that were at the bottom of each post. They never got a tremendous amount of use and they didn't fit with the overall color scheme of the site. I may or may not bring those back.

If you're interested on using this theme on your site, I've made it available as a public repository on GitHub.
