DT882 – GotSome

Share

2021 saw another dance floor moment for Bristol-based UK producer and DJ extraordinaire Adam Gorsky aka GotSome, when he came together with vocalist and writer Alex Mills on the stomper that is “Shout it Back” on D4Dance.

Annie Mac made it her Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, Arielle Free her “Big Whopper”, and Charlie Hedges (Radio 1) and MistaJam (Capital Dance), all rinsed the track throughout spring into summer. Kiss DJs also fell in love with the track with heavy rotation from Majestic, Sand Divine, TCTS, DJ Pioneer, Jess Bays and DJ SKT. To date on Spotify, it has done nearly 3 million streams too and continues to motor!

This builds on some already amazing career highlights for the Westcountry producer. In the early days, Adam’s skills spawned a slew of bass-heavy, dance floor destroyers such as ‘Bassline’, championed by Radio 1’s Annie Mac and signed to Defected Record. His edit of Kanye West’s ‘Fade’ was Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World, was played by Annie no less than 10 times on BBC Radio 1 and spent 5 weeks at the top of the BBC Radio 1 Dance Chart.

Fast forward to the start 2022, GotSome will continue to bring his undeniable talent to dance floors across the globe as well as unleash an onslaught of exciting new music via some of the key labels of the moment. Just out on Armada, “None Of Mine” with Sharlene Hector (Weiss) has been at the top of Danny Howard’s Friday night playlist on BBC Radio 1 and championed by MistaJam on Capital Dance.

More bullets are set to be fired with collabs with artists of the moment Chaney, Camden Cox, Eden Prince, Poppy Baskcomb, Lily Ahlberg and Damian Trueitt on some of the biggest labels including D4Dance, Toolroom, & Armada.

Adam has always received support for his productions from his peers, with the likes of Seth Troxler, Eats Everything, Skream, Gorgon City, Groove Armada, Disclosure, Rudimental, Calvin Harris, Diplo, Mark Ronson and many others consistently playing his tracks.

The Bristolian has toured throughout the UK and Europe, having held down a Together residency at Amnesia in Ibiza and played prestigious clubs and festivals including Glastonbury, Warehouse Project, SW4, fabric, Arcadia, IN:Motion, Hideout festival, Snowbombing, AMP Lost and Found, Wildlife, Bestival, Boomtown, Love Saves the Day and Secret Garden Party to name but a few. Outside of Europe, Adam has toured further afield with shows in Hong Kong, Singapore, KL, Bali, Bangkok and Dubai and is often out on the road internationally.

Today, he returns on the podcast again. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
This mix will start your night off & finish at the afterparty.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Maybe my Paul Johnson edit. The guys at Defected asked me to remix Get Get Down before PJ get sick (RIP) Unfortunately the remix/edit never came out. I’ve been playing out in my sets since 2022 & it’s been working a treat.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
I’m playing everything from singalong tunes to dirty techy club bangers.

Tell us about your next Single?
I’ve just put out my new single ‘Gold & Brown’ with South London vocalist Yulanda. It’s the first song on my DT mix & is out now on Toolroom’s new sister label ‘Love & Other’.

What have you got coming up?
I’m working on loads of cool new GotSome tracks atm… but they’re all super secret & undercover atm. So watch this space……

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Go Ravin. Turn Your Phone off & Dance all night

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
