Bring The Beat Mack launches his new label, Upgraded, with a meaty cut of purebred Drum & Bass, which comes in the form of ‘Extra Beef’!
Having cut his teeth on all manners of the dancefloor as a DJ since the late ‘90s, Bring The Beat Mack has recently turned his hand to production. Channelling everything from trance, house, breaks, jungle, and hardcore into his tracks, Bring The Beat Mack has firmly established himself as a presence on the Drum & Bass circuit in recent years with releases on labels including Jungle Cakes, Propa Talent, and USA-based imprint Geomagnetic.
Founding Upgraded is the latest step in Bring The Beat Mack’s journey as an artist. He has now created a space in which he can further develop his sound without boundaries, and offer other artists the chance to do the same.
The debut track from the label, ‘Extra Beef’, fuses various styles of Drum & Bass together in one monstrous track. A plethora of late-90s influences are visible in the 16 bars before the track drops; soulful improvised vocal lines, ethereal pads, and halftime breaks taking their cue from the hip-hop samples found in early jump-up tracks further express Bring The Beat Mack’s rich knowledge of Drum & Bass. As the tune drops, the listener is met with a huge reese bass and a thunderous kick bound to shake any sound system to the core. Astral effects and old skool piano samples are reintroduced alongside a deep house-style organ bass as the track progresses; a truly masterful piece of fusion Drum & Bass destined for the dancefloor.
