Mendo & Roxy Delgado combine on ‘Bonita’ via Clarisse

Share

Señoritas, this one is feeling for you; Mendo strengthens his position across the world’s dancefloors by teaming with the ass-kicking global enterprise of Roxy Delgado. Out of Venezuela but with Miami as a base to do business in, Delgado takes her techno training into the ring with Clarisse’s main man, having fronted up alongside Tiefschwarz, Harry Romero, Wally Lopez and Technasia while picking off global stages and DJ booths one by one.

Sitting pretty within ‘Bonita’, Mendo’s trademark percussion bubbles back and forth, reassembling the drum kit once piece at a time. Packing fluid rhythms that you can set your watch by, topped with a slight, stuttering cycle that helps push the track along, the funkiest of basslines plays it cool but pulls you to the dancefloor with maximum magnetism yet with no effort whatsoever.

Never looking for the shade, the vocals of ‘Bonita’ slide over the top, initially sounding like they’re holding all the answers down a phone line or through a tannoy system, before a tweak to the EQ has them coming live and direct as if Mendo and Delgado are unveiling a special guest to take centre stage alongside them.

‘Bonita’? Bright, buoyant, and you gotta put it on.
