Swiss DJ/producers Yvan Genkins and Mendo make a triumphant return to the studio with their new EP, Everybody, set to drop on Jamie Jones’ esteemed label, Hot Creations, on December 13, 2024. This vibrant three-track release highlights their undeniable synergy, merging deep grooves with infectious energy.

With over two decades of experience, Clarisse Records head honcho Mendo is a true force in the electronic music scene, boasting releases on Knee Deep In Sound, Crosstown Rebels, and Defected. He’s no stranger to Hot Creations, having previously remixed Danny Tenaglia’s Don’t Turn Your Back.

Now, teaming up with his compatriot Yvan Genkins for the first time in seven years, the pair brings a blend of Mendo’s warm, emotive touch and Yvan’s raw, driving energy to the dancefloor.

The title track, Everybody, sets the tone with funk-fueled strings, glistening percussion, and punchy kicks, delivering an undeniable groove. Chakaboo takes a deeper dive into modular sounds, pairing rolling hi-hats and shifting rhythms with rumbling basslines. Closing the EP, My Precious introduces textured drum patterns, trippy synth stabs, and a playful, upbeat vibe that captures the essence of modern house music.

Yvan Genkins & Mendo’s Everybody EP is poised to make waves in clubs worldwide, showcasing their dynamic production style and cementing their place on Hot Creations.

Señoritas, this one is feeling for you; Mendo strengthens his position across the world’s dancefloors by teaming with the ass-kicking global enterprise of Roxy Delgado. Out of Venezuela but with Miami as a base to do business in, Delgado takes her techno training into the ring with Clarisse’s main man, having fronted up alongside Tiefschwarz, Harry Romero, Wally Lopez and Technasia while picking off global stages and DJ booths one by one.

Sitting pretty within ‘Bonita’, Mendo’s trademark percussion bubbles back and forth, reassembling the drum kit once piece at a time. Packing fluid rhythms that you can set your watch by, topped with a slight, stuttering cycle that helps push the track along, the funkiest of basslines plays it cool but pulls you to the dancefloor with maximum magnetism yet with no effort whatsoever.

Never looking for the shade, the vocals of ‘Bonita’ slide over the top, initially sounding like they’re holding all the answers down a phone line or through a tannoy system, before a tweak to the EQ has them coming live and direct as if Mendo and Delgado are unveiling a special guest to take centre stage alongside them.

‘Bonita’? Bright, buoyant, and you gotta put it on.

We premiere it on Data Transmission, check it here and grab it here!

If you don’t know about Mendo by now, ‘Let Me Tell You Something’ about one of key figures of the house underground.

The celebrated DJ, producer and remixer always goes big on putting on the cream of new talent for his world famous Clarisse imprint, now over 20 years in the mix, but equally loves to show everyone with an informed pair of ears how he’s still getting down with new material. Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels, Defected, Rekids, Toolroom and Get Physical Music have all become Mendo hotspots over the years, but Clarisse remains where it’s at.

His latest creation (following ‘Single Ladies’ and the ‘Minimal Flavour’ EP) is the label’s trademark brand of deep house, this one with the feel of something tropical: it’s as if Mendo is bringing club vibes up through the undergrowth, stirring up something in the atmosphere below that you can feel before you hear. An electrifying soul vocal gives the track vitality to hold onto, reaching the conclusion that love is the answer in tough times and earning a standing ovation on the breakdown. Mendo then goes about sprinkling a pick-n-mix of sonic patterns across the beats – synth graffiti, tub-thumbing percussion – to keep the track slithering. Now go tell the world.

We premiere ‘Let Me Tell You Something’ on Data Transmission and you can grab it on Beatport link: https://www.beatport.com/release/let-me-tell-you-something/3877955

Another big year in store for Clarisse, promising to add minimal deep tech grooves and deep house sounds to its already plentiful armoury. Label head Mendo starts their latest calendar campaign for dancefloor supremacy with his own ‘Minimal Flavour’ EP due out on Friday 2nd April.

Having shown his ‘Diva’ side on Clarisse last year, Mendo’s achievements to date remain supreme, from the mass of remixes he’s whipped up to the multitude of different labels he’s produced for, plus his masterminding of Clarisse’s 20th birthday celebration year as a global event.

The equation for ‘Minimal Flavour’ is maximum energy made to look effortless. Quickfire hi-hats, a buoyant spin cycle of filtered techno chords taking FX along for the ride, a swift bassline bob rubbing the bottom of the track with a nimble touch – all looked after by diva vocals telling you that X marks the spot as far as where the party is concerned. Just a splash of this will have the dancefloor covered.

‘Burning Side’ won’t put you off your stride, Mendo casually gliding and bubbling with clip-clop percussion, more deep techno synths switching the setting between sunup and sundown, and a mix and match of a classic house singalong putting all of its brain power into gear while a sneaky male snippet nudges up alongside. With both tracks rooted in the mechanical but made airy and athletic, Clarisse’s main man puts a spring in the step of 2021.

We premiere ‘Minimal Flavour’ on Data Transmission today, check it out below and grab it on Beatport.

Nobody’s holding down Clarisse’s do-it-all DJ, producer and boss Mendo, telling the summer to come and get some with new track ‘Diva’.

One of the underground’s most requested remixers – Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Nina Kraviz, Monika Kruse, Damian Lazarus among his elite club customers. Mendo has stamped his style across some of the best electronic music labels going. From Hot Creations to Desolat, Circus to Moon Harbour, Elrow to Toolroom or Saved, all have taken delivery of hot stuff from the four-deck specialist who celebrated his 20th anniversary in the game with a series of special commemorative events last year.

Mendo’s career has thrived on the excitement ‘to produce a song, then play it in front of thousands of people and make them hysterical.’ ‘Diva’ is no exception, and it’s a fierce ruling one at that. With one of Clarisse’s characteristic body-popping basslines heaped in groove and equally determined to keep on ’til the break of dawn, ‘Diva’ flash dances its way into drawing a circle of smiling faces around the dancefloor, descending on the DJ in a chorus of chanted builds. A casually cool, street corner sax riff, setting off car alarms on the breakdown to bring a moment of calamity to lose it by, is the clincher that forecasts both Mendo and Clarisse will carry on living la ‘Diva’ loca this year.

Check out ‘Diva’ below and grab it from Beatport.

The next release on Incorrect comes from Spanish Producer, Mendo, who’s recent releases on Toolroom, Sola, and Elrow are taking the Tech-House world by storm.  With his latest release, “Get A Funk” sitting in the Beatport Top-10 for the entire month of July, it couldn’t be a better time to welcome him back on Incorrect Music.

Kicking off the release is the title track ‘Cascadia’ which is an energy-filled number that’s geared for peak-time madness.  The double A-side release features the no-frills ‘In Da Mouse’ on the flip side.

Making his debut on Incorrect is the irrepressible Tennan who flips his rendition of ‘In Da Mouse’. Tennan is a talented newcomer to the world of house and techno with infectious enthusiasm and dedication to sound quality. Having previously been involved in other music genres and music bands from an early age he eventually moved into the realm of production, relocating to Leeds to study “Music Tech” at Leeds Beckett University where he honed his skills in the infamous Northern party city

Our premiere has a familiar bassline he’s become accustomed to crafting perfectly adding his own eerie top lead that gives the track a more brooding overtone.

Check out Tennan’s remix of ‘In Da Mouse’ below and grab the EP on Beatport.

One of the underground’s most requested remixers and head of the Clarisse Records label, the ever-ready Mendo has well over a 200 tracks to his name released over an almost 20 years period and has stamped his style across some of the best electronic music labels going.

A spinner since the age of 15 and the holder of a quintessential ‘music is life’ philosophy – this after inauspicious childhood inspiration was provided by acid house, new beat and anthems such as Technotronic’s ‘Pump Up The Jam’ – Mendo’s career from this point forward has thrived on the excitement “to produce a song, then play it in front of thousands of people and make them hysterical.

His Clarisse label has been dropping heat and upping antes since 2003, set up with right-hand man, previous remix target and Club Science co-member Chab. Flourishing into a sureshot imprint stocking club class from Solardo, Secondcity, Wade, Yvan Genkins, Oxia, Jay Lumen, Audiojack, Danny Serrano, Ross Evans, Vangelis Kostoxenakis to name a few and plenty of Mendo himself, the expansion into hosting Clarisse Nights across Europe now features a diamond dozen of in-house, in-demand DJs.

When it comes to house music, Mendo only deals in actual fact. To that note we’ve invited him on our series 5 facts and 5 tracks. He gives us 5 facts you don’t know about him and 5 tracks he’s loving!

5 Facts

1) Why Mendo?

After few months of searching, I created my DJ name simply by coming letters of my real name and other names, David Ortega …I just put Men before the D and O.
And the funny thing was that after few years, I saw the name of Mendo in the credits on the TV Show of Baywatch… but that’s honestly not where I got it from!

02) 1992

This is the name of one of my biggest tracks I made on Cadenza Records and I called it ‘1992’, not because I was born on this date as people think, unfortunately! I gave it this titled because it was the year I started DJing and it will always be a special year for me.

03) Why did I call my label Clarisse?

My best friend and myself were looking for a label name when we were planning to set one up, and one day in a party where we were playing together, a cute girl came to us at the end to congratulate us for the music. When she told us her name I looked at my friend and we both said at the same time: Clarisse Records!
Unfortunately, we never saw this girl again, but we’d like to say thanks for the inspiration!

4) I love TV

I’m a huge fan of all law-releated TV Show but (The Good Wife) and (The Good Fight) are the best ones for me and I think probably best TV shows ever. I’ve also discovered Stranger Things though Netflix which has to be the best series of 2018 in my opinion. I’m pretty much obsessed with boxsets too… Designated Survivor, How to get away with murder and Better Call Saul etc. I love them all!

05) My favourite format

Vinyl, CD, USB or Traktor: in 27 years of DJing, I’ve had the chance to play with all of them but my favourite is definitely Traktor. For me it’s the most versatile and allows me to do everything I’ve always wanted to do with my DJ sets.

5 Tracks

1) Mendo & Danny Serrano – Grush [Desolat]
One of my favorite productions I made with my buddy Danny Serrano!

02) Fancy Inc – Twist [Toolroom]
The biggest weapon I played in 2018 from the amazing Brazilian duo Fancy Inc!

03) Why – Prok & Fitch [Solid Grooves]
I love this tune because the production is verso solid: these guys are one of the best productions outfit out there, for sure.

04) Fernando Mesa – All Of You [Toolroom Trax]
I played this so much over the last few months as it’s the kind of track you can play in at a super-underground party but it’s also accessible more a more commercially-minded crowd, love it!

05) Rydim vs. DJ Funk – Ghetto_Booty – Jesse Perez’s Cutler Ridge Booty Mix [Hot Creations]
I never get tired of playing this absolutely wicked remix, just an out-and-out banger!

Mendo & Fancy Inc – Who You Are is out 25 January on Abode

Clarisse Records is a label dedicated to House music and run by Mendo, who is a Swiss DJ that many will recognise from his seminal releases on labels including Cr2, Defected, Toolroom, Suara, Noir and Cadenza.

Widely regarded as a scene leading artist Mendo aka David Mendo Ortega, describes his techy sound as deep, tribal and funky.  His eclectic sound and wide variety of influences are apparent within the labels back catalogue that has featured music from the likes of Technasia, Audiojack, Jay Lumen, Oxia and DJ Sneak, plus many others of a similar calibre.

Our Debut Transmission is from Mendo himself, teaming up and collaborating with Yvan Genkins, who outside of his previous collaborations with Mendo, has featured on Toolroom, Snatch!
