We’re thrilled to welcome Danny & Mike Parton to the Data Transmission Spotlight Mix, bringing their signature fusion of ’90s house, French touch, disco, and funk to the forefront. The brotherly duo has been making waves with their vibrant productions and impeccable sampling techniques, and their latest mix is a testament to their passion for creating celebratory and timeless dance music.

Mike and Danny recently launched their own imprint, Jolene Records, as a platform to channel their love of artful sampling and groove-heavy tracks. Their debut EP showcased their ability to craft tracks that are both nostalgic and modern, drawing on years of inspiration from European house music legends. Their follow-up, ‘Jolene 02,’ dropped in late 2024, solidifying their label’s reputation as a home for French touch-inspired, peak-time dancefloor weapons.

With a history of releases on top European labels, their productions blend bold, dynamic sounds with emotional hooks. Tracks like Danny’s ‘Hotspot’ and ‘Orange Juice’ and Mike’s ‘Don’t Look My Name’ and ‘Free As A Bird’ highlight their ability to infuse funk and house with uplifting energy and heartfelt emotion.

What to Expect from Their Spotlight Mix

The mix is a vibrant journey through their influences and their own productions, including cuts from their Jolene Records catalog. Kicking off with Head High’s ‘Agatha’ and traversing through standouts like Detroit Swindle’s ‘That Freak Stuff (Soulphiction Mix)’ and Mousse T.’s ‘All I Want Is The Bass,’ the mix is a joyous celebration of groove and rhythm.

Notable highlights include Danny’s ‘Hotspot’ and ‘In The Groove,’ which bring loopy funk and house heat, alongside tracks like Dave Lee ZR & Joey Montenegro’s ‘Can’t Get High’ and St David’s ‘Get Fonk!’ The mix seamlessly combines tracks that evoke dancefloor euphoria while showcasing the brothers’ ability to curate a cohesive, high-energy experience.

Despite the many weird and wonderful submissions they get from Joe Public at Data Transmission – think everything from bottles of homemade hooch to used underwear – Data Transmission freely admit that we were most surprised to receive a cassette accompanied by a polaroid photo of alphabetti spaghetti spelling out ‘I AM RON MEXICO’ in the post at the tail end of last year. Intrigued, DT dusted off their Walkman and gave the tape a listen to find that what was on offer, was, well… surprisingly good!!! They then set about finding him online, only to find that there was not a single mention of him on the internet.

Several weeks passed and having written Ron Mexico off as an elaborate prank concocted by the overactive imagination of one of their many friends with far too much time on their hands, Data Transmission didn’t expect to hear from him again. Then the postman delivered a bottle of tequila every day for twelve days. A postcard then followed, with the following message inscribed in Spanish, “Now you’re suitably inebriated, perhaps we can talk on Facebook.”

One brief chat later, Data Transmission had arranged for Ron to join us at the burgeoning snow festival, Rise, wherein we’d meet the mysterious selector in the flesh for the first time.

His rider, predictably, contained a variety of mezcal, alongside “1 semi-inflated inflatable shark, a frozen banana, and a copy of The Karate Kid on VHS.” The time in the French Alps with a masked Ron was fleeting and, having ingested what we’d consider a potentially lethal amount of Mexican spirits, Ron Mexico left as much of an enigma as he’d arrived.

Six years on, Ron Mexico has become the selector of all music for Data Transmission, the tequila to our tacos, the voice whispering vinyl secrets in our ears. Now, to mark a momentous milestone, Ron has taken on the 900th Data Transmission podcast with a special 3-hour-and-30-minute mix. It’s a cosmic, tequila-soaked odyssey spanning genres and dimensions we didn’t even know existed.

The mix begins with the sound of a bottle of mezcal being uncorked, crescendos with field recordings from the jungles of Oaxaca, and ends with what we’re pretty sure is a live feed from the International Space Station.

As always, Ron Mexico defies description, explanation, and logic – but honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Brace yourselves. The mix is here. Listen responsibly.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…

Inner Life Ft. Jocelyn Brown’s ‘I Like It Like That’ Gets a Stunning Michael Gray Remix on Fool’s Paradise.

Inner Life and Jocelyn Brown’s 1982 disco classic ‘I Like It Like That’ receives a dazzling reimagining from UK Disco House maestro Michael Gray, landing November 29th on Fool’s Paradise. Known for revitalizing timeless anthems, Fool’s Paradise adds another gem to its catalog, with Gray delivering a sleek, uplifting remix that bridges the gap between disco’s golden era and today’s dancefloors.

Powered by Jocelyn Brown’s unmistakable vocals, Gray’s remix preserves the soulful essence of the original while injecting his signature flair. The result? A punchy, feel-good groove that’s tailor-made for modern audiences. This follows Gray’s acclaimed remix of Raw Silk’s ‘Do It To The Music’ earlier this year, proving his unmatched ability to breathe new life into beloved classics.

With a career spanning decades, Michael Gray—one half of the legendary Full Intention—is a disco powerhouse. From his iconic hit ‘The Weekend’ to becoming Traxsource’s #1 Artist of 2020, his influence on the genre is unparalleled. Gray’s productions and remixes have graced esteemed labels like Glitterbox, Nervous, and Z Records, and he continues to inspire with his DJ sets for Glitterbox and Downtown Disco.

Known for creating soulful yet dance-ready beats, TheGoddessMusic continues to carve out her own space in modern house music with this latest offering.

Following an electrifying summer with her reimagined Chaka Khan classic, ‘Ain’t Nobody,’ on Roger Sanchez’s Stealth Records, TheGoddessMusic’s influence has only grown. Queer joy and summer vibes abound on disco-house duo Crush Club’s new single ‘Bohanna’, with long-term collaborator and non-binary vocalist Amazonian Rockstar. Bells and rhythmic percussion introduce a track imbued with the joy of a hot summer’s day and the unbridled joy that can only come from spending a long day in the sun with friends.

As mirrored in the single artwork’s psychedelic tie-dye effect, ‘Bohanna’ draws on tropical rhythms and the kaleidoscopic implications of city-based parties.”Bohanna, music for dancing” Amazonian Rockstar sings in the song’s refrain, their soaring vocals contributing to the Carnivalesque overtones that emanate from the song.

‘Bohanna’ is the first in a slew of new singles for Crush Club, the NYC duo comprised of vocalist TC Milan and producer/multi-instrumentalist Le Chev. Ever engaged in the collaboration, Crush Club have also achieved recognition for songs they have released alone: ‘Trust’ and ‘We Dance’ are both club mainstays.

Artist features are not the only form of collaboration for Crush Club either: the pair have recently released a series of remixes, including for Sigrid single ‘Burning Bridges’ and Sofi Tukker mega-hit ‘Original Sin’.

With ‘Bohanna’ they restate their claim as bona fide songwriters in their own right, and a flame to promising and established artists wanting to feature on their tracks.

Talking about the new single, Crush Club offered the following:

“‘Bohanna’ is our latest collaboration with our favourite singer Amazonian Rockstar. With this Latin-House banger, we imagine the Goddess of Dance, Bohanna guiding us through these complicated times. She reminds us to love, dance, and make music forever.”

Listen to “Bohanna” here and grab it on Beatport.
