Loco Dice’s Desolat label closes out its 2024 release schedule with a bang, welcoming Italian talent Davide T and his fiery three-track ‘6.00 AM’ EP. A rising name in Milan’s vibrant house scene, Davide T makes his debut on the influential imprint with a collection that showcases his knack for tight grooves and percussive flair.

The EP’s lead track, ‘6.00 AM’, bursts onto the scene with a magnetic energy, weaving together sharp drum patterns, fast-paced hi-hats, and warping basslines. The groove is elevated by smooth, soulful female vocals that bring a refreshing contrast to the track’s driving rhythms, creating a hypnotic peak-time weapon.

The EP continues with ‘Funky Beats’, where chunky, rapid-fire percussion meets an irresistible R&B flow, complete with rap-style vocal elements and intricate beats that keep the energy high. Closing things out, Davide teams up with DRAXX for ‘Daddy’, a track that hits hard with vibrant percussion and relentless rhythm, embodying the pure essence of late-night club heat.

Known for his standout performances at Manawa Experience and Red Motel parties, Davide T has been earning recognition from icons like Marco Carola, The Martinez Brothers, and Jamie Jones. His debut on Desolat marks a milestone in a breakout year, further cementing his status as one to watch in the global house music scene.

We’re thrilled to premiere ‘6.00 AM’, the lead track from Davide T’s highly anticipated debut on Desolat. Listen to the exclusive premiere of ‘6.00 AM’ here on Data Transmission. The full EP drops via Desolat on 20th December 2024.

Toronto’s Demuir continues his fine recent run of form with a thrilling three-tracker on Loco Dice’s Desolat label.

Having made his name on the local scene early on, Demuir has gone on to play some of the world’s big stages. The ever more essential artist shows off his fine array of skills and sounds across three high functioning tracks here.

The bristling ‘Progress Waits for None’ is our premiere today. It arrests your attention from the off with its lively horns and churning drums. Spoken word snippets and oversized hi-hats all exude plenty of attitudes and are sure to explode in the club.

Elsewhere, the devastating, ‘Disco Ain’t Jack’ then flips the script and offers well-swung disco-house drums with classic vocal samples. Last of all, the superb ‘Yuh Chat Too Much’ is another loopy jam with disco, funk and boogie overtones.

Check out ‘Progress Waits for None’ below and grab a copy here.

Having heard Loco Dice playing one of their 2016 remixes, Leftwing & Kody sent the Desolat boss some new tracks. After he hammered them all summer, he tapped up the hot UK duo for a full EP that was many months in the making, but now here it is…

Chris Aidy and Jon Kong have established themselves as scene leaders with big releases on Relief Records, Suara, Moon Harbour and Truesoul. They always serve up the sort of characterful tech house sounds that make them firm favourites with festival and Ibiza crowds alike, and on their Desolat debut they offer some huge tunes which reflect the hardware-heavy production process the duo are known for.

Our premiere from the three track EP is the ‘The Hills’, which is a chunky track with raw percussive energy and barrelling kick drums that never let up. Vocal stabs add to the intensity and it’s a full on tribal affair.

The second instalment of Epizode was the one where it really found its feet. Taking place at the end of December and into the new year, the crowd was made up of a much more multi-national spread of people than last year. Brits partied with Aussies, the core Russian crowd got down with Germans and many others also made the trip to paradise.

And the Vietnamese island the festival plays out on really is paradise. Sunsets and sunrises take your breath away twice a day as the sun appears or disappears on the horizon, reflecting on the warm green-blue seas. The sandy beaches are straight from a holiday brochure and making the site come alive is a selection of great art installations: giant metal structures on the beach with people climbing on them are particularly majestic. Most of the stages are built from local bamboo and house great sound systems that deliver all the music clearly.

The lights and lasers are warm and soothing and its the juice bar offerings and general hip atmosphere, add to the escapist and tropical feel. It means that throughout the ten days you always feel you are somewhere special. And you are, whether that’s a beach party at night under the stars, or bathed in the hot sun during the day.

Musically there is just as much to get excited about. Peggy Gou stands out with a back to back set with 50 Weapons man Bambounou. The pair rip it up with serrated techno, lashing of acid and jacked up house that is high energy and quick paced. For more mind-melting sets, the one and only Ricardo Villalobos did his usual thing, swearing through synths, vocals and drum lines that are supple and seductive. At one point the crowd whip out a load of masks of his face and he laps it up, even getting his phone out for a picture.

The biggest crowd seems to turn out for Desolat man Loco Dice who offers his usual chunky funk sound. There are also some no-frills, tough techno sets from Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann, and Luciano also pulls out a classic selection during a memorable sunset set. Shouts should also go to residents Roustam Mirzoev & Tyoma who play many different times in all different locations, at different times, and always sound fresh and interesting.

What’s more, most of the DJs hang around for a few days, play multiple sets and often serve up some impromptu back to backs that keep the crowds guessing. And dancing. Having this year announced itself as one of the most visit destination festivals of the year, the future looks very bright indeed for Epizode.

Desolat welcomes back label favourite Francisco Allendes this November as he joins fellow Chilean DJ Pablo Inzunza to deliver four infectious cuts in the form of their ‘Super 8’ EP.

A name known to many within the worlds of House and Techno, Francisco Allendes’ emergence as one of Ibiza’s most recognised names is certainly no coincidence. A core member of Loco Dice’s Serán Bendecidos family, Allendes’ history with Desolat lies deep after Dice noticed the Chilean and signed his ‘Animals’ EP’s back in 2013. Now four years, four Desolat EPs and two label samplers later, Allendes’ catalogue boasts releases on Cadenza, Snatch!, Kaluki and VIVa, whilst providing remixes for Do Not Sleep and Crosstown Rebels to name just a few. For ‘Super 8’, fast-rising compatriot Pablo Inzunza joins Allendes, with the young Chilean’s impressive ascent welcoming material on 8Bit, Deeperfect, Alphahouse and Wow!. Here we see the two talents combine for the first time, with the result forming an impressive collaborative EP rooted in Chile via Ibiza.

Our debut transmission is the title track ‘Super 8’  which lays the focus on organic elements, with a series of precise drum licks and ever-evolving whirrs and background nuances keeping listeners moving.

Francisco Allendes & Pablo Inzunza ‘Super 8’ is out on Desolat on November 3rd 2017.

We Are FSTVL returned for their fifth birthday celebrations over the Bank Holiday Weekend 26th–28th May including our Data Transmission Stagewe sent Jack Finnan down to check it out and whilst he was their he caught up with wAFF and chatted to him about his Ibiza residency at Paradise, Festivals, his upcoming release on Desolt, Gaming and more..

So your Hanzz Sup EP came out on vinyl this Monday via Desolat, what was your approach to production for such a big release?

You know what, I don’t actually have any approach to any production at all. I just sit there and make whatever comes to me on the spot. I never think of it, I never plan it and when I do do that it fails a little bit as I’ve already set myself up boundaries before I can even start. So I just tend to sit there and whatever mood I’m in and make whatever, I mean it took me a good couple of months to get everything all together. I’ve made some other stuff but it didn’t work together for the EP, but it worked out great and I’m well happy with it.

Last month you played b2b with Desolat co-founder Loco Dice, who are the other artists that you really look up to?

I mean Loco Dice has always been someone I look up to, so that was just an amazing thing to experience. I’ve always dreamt of playing with Loco Dice, playing alongside him, never mind back-2-back with him. It’s different now because my whole tastes have changed but it always used to be Villalobos, still do love Villalobos, Marco Carola, all them lot. But my tastes are always changing, so now it would be wicked to be able to play alongside people like Ben Klock, Marcel Dettman, that’s the more techno side of stuff. Anyone like (Loco) Dice really, even b2b with Jamie (Jones) would be great, I’m really good friends with Jamie now although I’ve never played properly b2b with him at an actual event, so I’d love to be able to do that.

If you had the chance to go b2b with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why?

Michael Jackson in his bedroom with loads of kids, it would be well weird.

You’re playing the Paradise stage this Sunday at We Are FSTVL and Hot Creations signed your first ever EP – Rainbows (incl. Jo Johnson), what does Paradise/Hot Creations mean to you as an artist?

To me everybody who is part of Hot Creations are just really wicked people, everyone is full of life, full of colour and everyone’s got their own vibe and their own style to it. I think that’s what Jamie’s done so well with, is that he’s taken on so many different artists that have something really special to them. So as a thing I think it has a special vibe and the people are great, it’s such an amazing family to be part of. I think the energy of it all and the whole idea and the concept behind it just really works.

Looking ahead to the summer over the next few weeks, you’re playing Richy Ahmed’s 432 label launch, the Netherlands, Hungary, Rome, Barcelona, then the Paradise Opening Party at DC-10 and back for Glasto a day or so later. When you do find time to unwind amongst your busy schedule, what kind of things do you like to do?

It’s literally playing computer games, that is all I do, no joke. If I’m not DJing and I’m not making music, I just tend to sit at home and watch films, play games, stuff like that. Literally just be a lazy lifer. Because I travel so much and I play all the time, when I come home if I don’t have to make music, the last thing I want to do is be surrounded by music. I’m a bit of a hermit when I’m at home, I just stay in, I don’t want to go out. I just lie there, I’m a massive computer geek mate, so that to me is my ultimate chilling out time, doing absolutely fuck all, just lying there playing computer games.

Have you got a favourite game at the moment?

I’ve bought all the virtual reality stuff, it’s hard to say, mate, I’ve bought every game that’s possibly out, I’m honestly a right geek.

Speaking of Ibiza, what’s the most surreal thing you’ve experienced whilst you’ve been out there?

Do you know what, my memory is that bad I don’t think I’d be able to say? But I know that Burning Man is definitely one of the maddest things I’ve ever been to and experienced. Just off the top of my head, I would say being in Burning Man, I don’t even know if I could say some of the stuff in this interview, that I’ve seen. It’s just absolutely crazy. I remember one time, one of the most amazing things I’ve experienced was being in Burning Man and we were outside Robot Heart, which is like a big bus that has a party in the middle of the desert. And Lee Burridge was playing, the sun was rising and there was thousands of people, everyone’s sat on the ground and he did this amazing big long breakdown melodic track. Then all of a sudden, the crowd picked up this disabled woman in a wheelchair and held her above their heads, like thousands of people all cheered for this woman. Then she started crying and then Lee Burridge and everyone in the bus turned the music down, just the whole desert thousands of people cheering for this disabled woman. I remember just having a little moment, you’re completely taken away by it, breathtaking. The scenery, the sunrise, the music and then just where you’re at in the middle of the desert, everyone applauding for this disabled woman giving her all this love.

We were lucky enough to premiere your recent remix of ‘Give Me’ by De La Swing, which went out on Kaluki Musik last week. And you had the opportunity to go out and tour South America with them earlier on this year, what were some of the highlights of that trip?

I think it’s my biggest fan base there actually, it’s an amazing place to play. The people are so energetic and they feel the music, I think they really connect to the music over there and they’re just great people. Definitely, my favourite place to play, Italy and South America, so I’m going to be there quite a lot actually.

You seem to be going from strength to strength at the moment, what’s next for wAFF?

I’m going to Ibiza now, literally flying out to Ibiza now basically. I played in Zurich last night, flew here to play here like 8AM I had to come and drive here, played We Are FSTVL. They didn’t open the gates ’til 12 so I didn’t get to play to anyone really, apart from the people building the setting. So going to Ibiza now and playing with Richy Ahmed for 432 for a boat party, then I’ve absolutely no idea what I’m doing after that.

Yaya grew up in Torino, in the resonant Babylon of his home, where the rhythms of his father’s, singer and leading voice of the ensemble M’bamina, drums prophesied a multi-ethnic Italy. During the 70’s the sound of M’bamina spread an exotic afro-beat sound in the smoky clubs of the cold Torino of
those days.

The arias of Yaya’s scores reach the ears of Loco Dice, who falls in love with the Afro Latin rumba of Fresca de l’Agua and decides to record the Vecute ep. The phone call, the turning point that changes his biography, Yaya receives it in 2009 in Africa: <<Hello Yaya? This is Dice>>.

He thus becomes part of the Desolat family. So far, following the orbit of Desolat’s circles, he has played in all the big meccas of European electronic music. His tracks has been released on vinyl and digital by Desolat, Mixmag Records, Cadenza, Get Physical, Be As One, Avotre, Kina Music, Kiara, Knock Knock series, Souvenir Plus, Etruria Beat, Maison d’être, Earlydub, Draft, Hoenregler, Hummingbird Label, Oblack records and more.

Today he joins our Mix of the Day Series, with this killer mix!

Tracklist
“A lot of the tracks from this mix are from my label Tamango and will be being released on the label over the next year. You will find tracks from me, Cassy, Mike Shannon, Alex Ground, Ben Rau, Jamahr and more…”

With its next EP Desolat welcome French party starters and gangster house practitioners Amine Edge & DANCE to Loco Dice’s label. The no nonsense pair offer three standout tracks that really convey their in your face style.

Amine Edge & DANCE hail from the South of France and have swiftly emerged at the centre of their own musical empire in recent years. Their CUFF label has championed plenty of exciting new artists as well as their own hook laden material, and has also spawned many sell out events in Ibiza at places like Sankeys. Mining everything from early house to Philli funk, techno to bass to hip hop and plenty in between, this pair are as brash as they are brilliant.

Our Debut Transmission is the massive ‘Ruthless’ goes first and has elastic, long legged house drums down low, coarse claps in the mid ground and blurting acid squelches writhing all over. It is a physical jack track aimed squarely at the rump and is sure to go off in the club.

Andrea Oliva makes his Desolat debut with 4-track EP ‘Get Down’.

The EP kicks off with ‘Crazy A’, a grooving track featuring subtle acid stabs. It’s joined by our favourite at Data Transmission the bumping ‘Elephant’; vocal-free, the jacking rhythm builds up to a cascade of dark, siren-like synths.

Title track ‘Get Down’ is the third of the EP, and features an unforgivingly thudding bassline underpinning the dark, echoing vocal sample. ‘That Shhh’ picks up the tempo to round off the package, with skipping hi hats and a sub-bass melody underpinning a subtle build up of horns and samples.

The ’Get Down’ EP marks the versatility of Andrea Oliva as a producer; his skill for tougher-edged tech is displayed to full effect on this latest release for Loco Dice’s iconic label, whilst his smoother house productions have previously found a home at Saved, Moon Harbour, DFTD, Be As One and Objektivity amongst others.
