There’s an intricacy and authority to this new EP from UK house stalwarts Mr C (who needs no introduction) and Affie Yusuf (UK tech-house titan whose Ferox label set benchmarks for 90s electronic music).

Having debuted on a Various Artists set in March, the pair put their cards on the table with the title track – a beautifully-crafted early hours groover whose swelling  bassline is joined by ebbing, flowing keyboards subtly lashed with ethereal night noises (also boasting a luminescent hypno-dub scuttler from Affie).

‘Raining Deep’ harks back to the dark sound of late 80s Chicago, building flickering synth layers and eerie melodies over a mutated Master C&J bassline, while ‘Entrance’ takes it deep and night-stalking with morphing pads and acid, perfectly capturing the spiritual charge and delicious melancholy of the best early house music.

House veterans will salivate with pleasure, while modern club kids will now appreciate what they’re on about.
