UK-based promoters, Sound Channel, best known as the guys and gals behind Croatia’s Unknown Festival, have acquired the Croatian island of Obonjan, which it plans to turn into the world’s first curated entertainment tourist destination.  Teaming up with Croatian operating company Gratiosus to operate the island, we’re sure the news that a festival has bought its own island will generate plenty of waves within the industry.

Situated near the city of Sibenikthe festivals will host music and other entertainment from summer 2016, with the primary aim being to develop a low impact, environmentally friendly destination.

“We’ve been working on this project for three years which has given us time to carefully refine our ideas,” said Sound Channel’s Dan Blackledge. “Our vision for the island of Obonjan is to regenerate the island and turn it into a truly unique concept, combining art and music, wellness, sustainable living, amazing food and drink and fun and creative accommodation, all on an idyllic island paradise.”

A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
