M.F.S: Observatory continues his heat streak deep into summer with another dynamite EP forthcoming on the eponymous Observatory Music label.

The Italian techno aficionado explores innovative and industrial territory with this three-tracker, experimenting with his machines to create various strains of sound for the peak hours of the night, full of character and energy. This is the “Y” EP.

EP opener “Y1” has a hazy mood from the get-go, an enormous kick drives, vocal samples flash in and out, opening up the six-minute trip into trippy territory. “Y2” packs a serious punch, but still keeps some playfulness at its heart. Ready to ignite the floors of concrete jungles around the world. Rounding off this raw and rugged package, Mattia serves up “Y3”, a thumping encounter, teasing you down a path of curiosity, deep into the night. Three tracks you can get lost too.

The London-based artist never tires from developing his sound, always looking to strain the boundaries of his distinctive sound, creating unique atmospheres amongst various realms of techno.

If you have the slightest interest in electronic music, there is not much possibility you have missed out on the vital years and progression of the prolific Italian duo, M.F.S: Observatory.

Hailing from the beautiful Naples, now UK based, they draw influence from their eccentric surroundings, letting elements from both places breathe in their sound.

When you hear their sound you immediately think to yourself, big room, dynamite, and imaginative, and you definitely will not be the first or last person to think these things. Recent times have seen the M.F.S: guys turn out releases on essential labels such as Green Velvet’s Relief Records, Food Music UK, and ViVa Music.

Well deserved feats for such hard-working producers. A stamp of approval you could say. Somehow between frequent long studio sessions and playing gigs they manage to steer the ship of their Observatory Music imprint, which features releases from themselves and carefully selected friends and fellow producers.

The raw talent and passion for sound roots back for many years drawing influences from some of the finest to ever grace the industry including Radio Slave, Kerri Chandler, Robert Hood, and Steve Lawler. Also, a huge nod goes towards Maya Jane Coles some who has inspired them, and which they supplied a remix of one of her tracks on the famous, Skint Records.

In their short time amongst the thick of things in the industry, the support for M.F.S: Observatory has excelled way beyond their imagination with artists such as Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin, Solardo, Reboot, Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli and many more all believing in their sound, supporting their tracks. More vital labels they have appeared on include Little Helpers, Roush, Smiley Fingers and My Vision Records.

2019 has been a rollercoaster ride for the pair, with the momentum carrying full steam ahead in to 2021. This year they played in the UK, Italy and a gig close to their heart in Barcelona, and look to broaden their horizons in the next years expanding around Europe and beyond.

They return to the Spotlight mix today, check it out here and download it here.

M.F.S: Observatory are pleased to welcome MKEY on Observatory Music. He lands with his one-track Ep titled “Mesmerized ” dropping in September, with two fantastic remixes from the bosses and Laesh.

In just 2 short years MKEY, the musical alias of Scottish DJ Mikey Watson, has already started to gain recognition. With the blistering technical ability and the innate knowledge of how to work a dance floor, he has already begun to make his moves in the electronic music scene. Despite his early musical experiences being far more traditional, he played the bagpipes to a world-class level. MKEY’s passion has always been electronic music. MKEY’s sound sits firmly in the realms of underground house music, minimalistic right through to solid, grooving tech-house. Each of his sets has nods toward his influences within the underground scene. Ranging from the established names such as Steve Lawler and Hot since 82 to more underground artists such as Bizen Lopez.

Opening the release is our premiere ‘Mesmerized’. It’s a track that has a powerful bass and, classy vocals, and cool minimal vibes. The Label bosses remix a big room Techno banger topped with bit-crushed melodic arpeggio and crazy vocals. To conclude is Laesh’s remix. It’s an unmistakable style, full of energy remix. The bass is the soul of the track very powerful massive drops with a big Acid Soul.

Check out ‘Mesmerized’ below and grab it on Beatport

There is no doubt that Italian-based duo, M.F.S: Observatory, have sculpted a name for themselves in recent years. Their almighty big room, the electrifying vibe can be found on labels such as Relief Records, Food Music, Hiriko and VIVa and this year. They find themselves on 303 Lovers with their elusive ‘Shine’ EP. They team up with Oliver Knight – an absolute treat for tech house addicts.

‘Shine’ opens the work with a kick drum providing an energetic driving force for the straight hi-hat. The soulful vocals glide dreamily along with intersecting fat bass jabs and high, penetrating string notes. ‘No Preacher Man’ follows and carries on with this vibe. Its extensively long breaks providing mad intensity for a heavy drop to really get the floor pumping, and flick things into the next gear. ‘Nene’ completes the EP, keeping with the steely beats and euphoric breaks of the previous two tracks whilst touching subtly on a bit of disco. Its jazzy hornlike blasts and wistful vocals drifting into the track.

‘Shine’ is without a doubt your go-to EP if you want to recreate that powerful, outer body state you find yourself in when in a club, with its energy really shaking the dance floor from start to finish. A fine collaboration here, deservedly landing them a comfortable spot on the established 303 Lovers.

We premiere ‘Shine’ for you today, check it out below and grab it here.

M.F.S: Observatory is the stage name of two boys between the new proposals of Vesuvius. These cultivating since childhood passion for music, they continued to pursue their dream with so much constancy. Their formation dates from about 2010, the year he decided to create something new and, so, after years of hard work flours are able to get their first contract and their first release towards the end of 2012.

In 2017 he remixed the Maya Jane Coles track Weak for Skint Records.

The two boys are Turchetti Mattia and Francesco Cozzolino, both of Naples, but with two lives a little ‘different: first, class 91, thanks to his passion is attending a music school; the second, class 94, he attended the school of engineering.

Their genre is a mix of House, Techno and Dark and their tracks are full of drums and percussion energy with the addition of effects incisors and a bit of singing. The result is a hot pace that will allow him to be known as series labels.
