Renegade Riddims: Task Horizon
Share
Task Horizon aka Aaron Von Schroeder, Jean Michel Thomet, Florian Suter and Tim Kleinert have been heavily influenced by the chaotic sonics of drum & bass. Hailing from Switzerland, they drew on the long, dark winter months to help craft their music in sonic solitude. Within this backdrop, they’ve seen their reputation steadily grow with every technologically solid record they’ve released.
Their journeys began at a young age. Aaron was introduced to the early electronic music of legendary figureheads Klaus Schulze and Jean-Michel Jarre. Tim spent hours poring over the keys of his piano. He could play his first chord at a tender age and it was from here that his obsession with music grew. Aaron’s passion for electronic music was nurtured throughout his teenage years, at which point he was introduced to D&B. Hooked instantly by its energy and mood, this newly found art-form became a central point for his entire life. He’d go on to buy a pair of turntables at age 20, becoming a regular buyer of records, always scouring through collections to find the most contemporary sounds.

Florian began his career with drum & bass in 2014, after mastering the djembe (African drum) in his early years and spending his time pouring over a vast range of musical instruments. He worked as a light technician in some of Zurich’s most revered venues. He also toured extensively with a punk rock band as a sound engineer, he’s always been deeply entrenched within the live circuit.
After meeting the rest of Task Horizon, including Jean, who’d been a close friend of Aaron’s for over two decades, he became a part of its world. Jean’s own path started whilst working as a qualified audio technician, working on professional film sets and teaching the subject at a third level institute in Zurich. His wide musical tastes reflect both in his music and work, from the careful compositions of Hans Zimmer to the more hard-hitting sound of Kill The Noise, translating directly into Task Horizon’s output. Together the formidable team were proved to be unshakeable.
After releasing on DCSI4, Forbidden Society, Dissected Culture, Mainframe and Fokuz Recordings, they’ve become a heavyweight part of the drum & bass back catalogue. Being on rotation across the radio airwaves, Task Horizon were quickly solidified as a force to be reckoned with.
Now, Task Horizon join our Renegade Riddims series. This mix is fast paced and heavy hitting, full of energy and a wicked track selection…bass face engage!!
