We’re excited to premiere ‘Chronicle,’ the title track from Boom Merchant’s upcoming EP, out 31 January 2025 via Eclipse Recordings. Known for its focus on dark and driving techno, Eclipse welcomes the Irish producer, now based in Mexico, for a debut release that showcases his dynamic and genre-blurring sound.

The ‘Chronicle’ EP is a four-track journey through Boom Merchant’s intense production style, blending raw percussion, potent synths, and ominous atmospherics. The title track delivers haunting, trippy vocals layered over a heavy bassline and gritty rhythms, creating a high-energy vibe perfect for late-night floors.

Each track on the EP brings something unique: from the acid-tinged sirens of ‘Scrapyard’ to the dubby undertones of ‘Mezcal,’ and the hip-hop-infused grit of ‘Everybody.’ This release further cements Boom Merchant’s reputation as a versatile and forward-thinking techno producer.

Stream ‘Chronicle’ now on Data Transmission and get a taste of Boom Merchant’s electrifying debut on Eclipse Recordings. The ‘Chronicle’ EP is available digitally on 31 January 2025.

Boom Merchant continues to release his unique style of techno, which combines hypnotic drums and thickset synths to create underground tracks that have peak time energy.

Terremoto / Finally Here is a two-track EP that opens with the raw and churning groove of “Terremoto,” before the old-school synth chords and nostalgic vibe of “Finally Here.” It’s a dynamic EP that’s out via Autektone Dark, and it displays Boom Merchant’s production skills. DJs already supporting the release range from Anna Reusch to Anderson Noise.

This is the third time that Boom Merchant has featured on T78’s record label Autektone Dark, and he also runs his own imprint called Tribal Pulse. Other record labels to feature his music include the likes of Sisko Electrofanatik’s Gain and LaLa’s Brand New Records.

2024 was a big year for Boom Merchant who moved away from his adopted home in Scotland and relocated to Mexico. He is originally from Ireland, and is a well-travelled DJ who has played international shows in a slew of countries both in, and outside of Europe.

Both tracks on this release have a solid foundation with heavy drums and eerie tension created by dark atmospherics. “Terremoto” is definitely the more high-energy of the two, but “Finally Here” is also a dance floor focused track. 2025 seems set to be another big year for Boom Merchant.

Boom Merchant lands on his record label Tribal Pulse with a gritty EP titled Mexico on MPC, that features both techno and breaks.

The opening two tracks, “Acapulco” and “Dadle,” are in Boom Merchant’s traditional techno style, but the last track, “Fivejag,” shows another side to his sound.

Fivejag is a breaks track with a lurching bassline and phasing drums, giving it a warping sound that is full of intensity. It moves away from the techno music that Boom Merchant has released on record labels like Gain Plus and Autektone Dark, but it is not out of place on Tribal Pulse, as the imprint often releases breakbeat tracks by Ukrainian artist Hockins.

Acapulco is likely the track that most people will gravitate towards, as it has got churning techno percussion layered under a blissful lead synth. The warmth of the melody and industrial feel of the drums make this a perfect sunrise techno track.

Dadle is a quirky track that might split opinions, because at its core it is a dark and brooding techno track, but its breakdown introduces a jazz flute section. The jazz sample makes it a unique way to break up a DJ set, but it does also move away from what would otherwise be a hypnotic groove.

It is a unique release that has already proven popular with a range of DJs including the likes of Anna Reusch, Slam and Maceo Plex.

Khen & Sonic Union – Driven By Demand https://datatransmission.co/blog/khen-sonic-union-driven-demand/ https://datatransmission.co/blog/khen-sonic-union-driven-demand/#respond Mon, 22 Sep 2014 13:38:00 +0000 http://datatrans.wpengine.com/news/khen-sonic-union-driven-demand/ We profiled the Glasgow label, Tribal Pulse, on these pages not too long ago, marking them out back then as a label of real distinction. So quite how they’d follow up their last release by Boom Merchant we were quite intrigued by. Well, the music on their latest comes from a relatively unknown quantity in Khen & Sonic Union, and while the release might not quite hit the same sort of highs as its predecessor, it’s still got enough in its locker to force an impression in even the most discerning of rooms.

We profiled the Glasgow label, Tribal Pulse, on these pages not too long ago, marking them out back then as a label of real distinction.

The title track, in original form at least, maintains a real kitchen sink approach, not least because of its sporadic and fully-charged first few minutes where the listener is left wondering just when it’s all going to subside a bit. But when the melancholic bassline envelops proceedings, it’s clear that it’s all part of a carefully executed plan. A difficult track to pigeonhole, it does lean towards progressive planes – meaning Pole Folder is just the man to rework it.

The Belgian’s approach to the original is one that’s far more stripped back than we anticipated. Leaning on only a smidgen of the original, he uses the synths to build up a frenzied atmosphere, while the rest of the minimal vibes only add to the overall ambiance. Khen & Sonic Union’s Tribal Pulse foray is a unique voyage through an unlikely sound sphere, and for those reasons at the very least they deserve our respect.

TRIP-FOUR.jpgLabel: Tribal PulseScore: 8/10

Fast-rising Glaswegian producer Boom Merchant is a man whose sound is hard to pigeonhole, but is draped in rich and sinewed quality regardless. Further indication of the Glaswegian scene’s propensity for churning out top-quality producers, he brings his stylish way of working to the fore once more here on his recent outing for his own label, the burgeoning Tribal Pulse; itself a medium for dizzyingly eclectic fare.

This is a two-track, double A-sided EP which tugs at the emotions too, a fact in no small part attributable to its rich and uncompromising analogue persuasions. ”Stars” is a generous case in point. Much like Mr.Fingers‘ track of the same title, it’s full of gorgeous melodies and a mound of spirited beats. It’s also rich in beguiling, atmospheric leanings, and has all the makings of a future classic. Sure to go down an absolute treat wherever it’s let off its leash.

The B-side is comprised of ”Green Symphony”; a more rotund and full-on affair. This time about, the drums wreck havoc alongside a delicate series of bulbous synths, the likes of which envelop the track in an unusual and haunting manner. Full of discerning goodness from the first beat to the last, this is a magnificent EP, the likes of which the scene’s more daring tastemakers are sure to lap up in their droves.
