Fleur Shore joins the Spotlight Mix

Share

The last three years in Birmingham’s underground scene have witnessed countless names to break through and leave their mark in their own ways. However, there is one name that consistently reappears, and that name is Fleur Shore.

Fleur’s emergence has owed a lot to originally catching the eye of Birmingham scene legend Tom Shorterz, and being recognised by such an influential figure in a competitive scene speaks volumes for Fleur’s undoubted talent. Fleur instantly impressed Tom during a residency in her early days of DJing at Hogtown in Tamworth, which subsequently led to Tom offering her a chance to showcase her DJ skills on a bigger stage.
Since then Fleur has been appearing on lineups across the UK becoming renowned not just for track selection – with influences of the old school seeing her intertwine classic house, old school garage, sub-genres of Chicago house and the emerging deeper minimal sounds – but for her turntablism skills too.

Arguably one of the most notable moments of Fleur’s burgeoning DJ career has been the backing of leading lady in the underground scene Hannah Wants, through her Hannah Wants DJ competition in 2017. Since supporting her at Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh on Hannah Wants Play Tour in 2018, Hannah has then gone on invite her to join her for six of her UK tour dates throughout early 2019.

Fleur has already shown great maturity and respect for the art of the warm-up set during the tour, and as the rest of the year progresses this will be a perfect opportunity to build on her existing achievements and push on internationally by showcasing her sounds that she’s been crafting in the studio.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
