A new music festival in a hidden garden, in the heart of Milton Keynes city centre! On the 1st and 2nd July Hidden Festival, the event series promises to bring a variety of events to Milton Keynes city centre as they host a two day Music & Arts Festival with some incredible talent.

The concept behind Hidden Festival is brought to you by Event One, who have previously delivered some incredible events in Milton Keynes before. Hidden Festival’s mission is to develop the arts and culture scene in Milton Keynes by activating unusual, hidden and disused spaces, turning them into immersive event experiences. Hidden Festival not only brings internationally recognised talent to Milton Keynes but one of the key aims is to champion local and emerging talent.

Day 1 is an 18+ dance music event featuring leaders in UK dance music BUT day 2, Sunday 2nd of July, is something unique with a Funk Soul & Disco Line-up, with a sprinkle of UK garage on stage 2. Hidden Festival is firm on its wish for Hidden Festival to be an inclusive project which provides something for the entire community, which is what drives the wide and varied content of events.

Headlining Saturday at Hidden Festival is Franky Wah, an electronic music producer and DJ from the UK. A truly contemporary artist, Franky Wah’s music epitomises the exhilarating power of club culture. Known for his mesmerising beats and captivating live shows, Franky has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of the hottest names in the electronic music scene today. Franky is backed up by some of the biggest hitters in electronic music, Danny Howard, Route 94, Arielle Free, Sorley, Ammara and our guys Lost on Mars, each with their own unique style and energy, promises to cement Hidden Festival to be a key dance event in the calendar.

And as if this wasn’t enough, this year’s festival also features a special guest performance by the incredible Hannah Wants. With a career spanning beyond a decade, Hannah Wants’ rise from self-taught turntablist to global star has been nothing short of meteoric. An acclaimed producer regularly releasing on some of dance music’s most well-respected labels, and with a touring schedule that takes her to the biggest clubs and festivals in the UK, Europe, the Americas and further, Hannah continues to cement her reputation as a major player on the international scene.

The meat in this sonically perfected sandwich is Danny Howard who is a British DJ, producer, and BBC Radio 1 dance party presenter who has been making waves in the electronic music industry for over a decade.

Route 94, the DJ and producer who rose to fame with his hit single ‘My Love’ featuring Jess Glynne and popular recent release of ‘Sad Songs’. Route 94’s sound is unlike anything else out there.

Radio Dj, Arielle Free, a London-based DJ and presenter, is known for her eclectic taste in music and vibrant personality. Arielle firmly holds her place in the international scene and is set to be an incredible section of the show!

Ammara is one of our hot picks for the line-up. Ammara is an absolute rising star in the electronic music scene and blends the sounds of energetic techno and old school acid sounds, creating a sound that is uniquely her own, with her latest release on Patrick Toppings label TRICK, which makes Ammara a hot pick for the line-up.

Another Hidden Festival favourite, Sorley, is a British DJ and producer who has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting new names in electronic music. Sorley has an infectious golden groove that can not be mistaken, tantalising bass riffs, distinct sampling, acute vocal hooks, and electric lead lines make up that elusive signature sound. His sets showcase his musical taste and style, infusing his love across the electronic music spectrum, ranging from house to disco to techno and everything in between. It is rumoured that Sorley has an upcoming release with Franky Wah this summer, so watch this space!

On top of all this for Day 1, Hidden Festival has invited DT to curate the second stage to celebrate our 15th Birthday! We are going to bring you a stage packed full of emerging talent and local heroes! Joining us on the day will be the one and only Carly Wilford, along with Sam Girling, Chanel Carmichael, Haas, Middleground, Samuel Morgan, HARRT and our very own Loz Seka!

Fuse this, with a hidden garden in Milton Keynes city centre, street art installations, mouth-watering street food and cocktails. Hidden Festival Episode 1 is an impressive way to start the event series.

But WAIT! There’s more… Day 2, Sunday 2nd of July is set to be another unforgettable day as some of the biggest names in Funk, Soul & Disco take to the main stage for a family-friendly spin off brand Funk City. Headlined by The Real Thing, Craig Charles, Shola Ama, DaisyBelle & Carly Foxx featuring Tasty Lopez, Brandon Block, Hobbs and our head honcho Ron Mexico, this event promises to be a musical treat for music lovers of all ages. The main stage will be hosted by So Sophisticated by Ultravegas, who are a Milton Keynes dance staple of the 90s.

The Real Thing, who are widely regarded as one of the UK’s best soul groups, will be headlining the main stage. With a string of hits to their name, including ‘You to Me Are Everything’ and ‘Can’t Get By Without You’, this is a rare opportunity to see them perform live in Milton Keynes.

Joining them on the main stage is Craig Charles, who is known for his Funk & Soul Club show and his infectious energy. Shola Ama, who rose to fame in the late 90s with her hit single ‘You Might Need Somebody’, will also be taking to the stage. DaisyBelle & Carly Foxx feat. Tasty Lopez who are having incredible success with their high energy and exciting event Only Fans House party, Brandon Block, Hobbs and Ron Mexico complete the lineup for a disco extravaganza on the main stage.

The main stage is not the only attraction at this event. Stage 2 will be hosted by Give Me Garage, who will be bringing together some of the best in UK garage royalty for an unforgettable experience. Dj Pied Piper, Genius Cru, Nay Nay, Sweet Female Attitude, MC Kie, Mc Vapour and more will be performing on this stage, ensuring that there is something for everyone at this throwback event.

Overall, this event promises to be a great summer garden party for music lovers and families alike. With a lineup that includes some of the biggest names in music, as well as street art and street food, this is an event not to be missed. So mark your calendars for the 1st & 2nd of July and get ready for a weekend of live music, street food and street art!

It’s that time of year when we all consume too much cheese. Pagieyourboy is even ‘Slapping Cheese’ with his latest drop and it’s pretty gouda!

The London DJ returns to Marylebone Records with this tech-house roller. The dark, twisted synth lead makes this track perfect for prime-time raves. On the flip side, hot up-and-comers Lost On Mars deliver a spacey-sounding remix, guaranteed to fire the dancefloor to the outer realms of the galaxy!

Renowned for his choppy vocals and heavy basslines, Pagieyourboy hits the spot once again with this release. Having started his DJing career in 2017, he rapidly made a name for himself and is now a regular feature in the Capital’s music circuit, appearing at the likes of Lightbox, Rolling Stock and Basing House.

Combining their energy and talent, Lost On Mars duo James Callaghan and Jason Hodges create nothing less than a riot on the dancefloor. The pair enjoy experimenting with a wide range of sounds and genres including, tech house, deep tech, acid, breakbeat, drum and bass and techno.

When approached to remix ‘Slapping Cheese’, the DJs grabbed the opportunity. Speaking of the production they said: “We wanted to keep the track underground. After we wrote the bassline, the track just rolled from there. We kept Pagieyourboy’s original warehouse synth, which we love and chopped up some stabs, which answer the b line perfectly. Alongside this, we included a few acid stabs, some trippy percussions, and a huge synth on the drop. If you’re out raving in the run-up to Christmas, these tracks are guaranteed to blow your socks off.”

Lost On Mars land on Sola with ‘Jungle Flute’ as part of the ‘Summer Of Rave’ various artists, out tomorrow!

Legendary Manchester duo Solardo wave goodbye to a pandemic existence and signal the return of crowded dancefloors and wild weekend antics with a monster new VA – ‘Summer Of Rave’ – released on July 30th on their revered Sola imprint.

This latest VA release continues to set a firm precedent, as the UK duo blends the sounds of well-known artists as well those just shining through, to form a diverse and eclectic compilation album that retains the club-fuelled, dancefloor-oriented sound that the pair have become best known for. The last 12 months have devastated the electronic music community and nightlife in general, with light at the end of the tunnel Sola’s Summer Of Rave 2021 serves as a call to party as we prepare to be set free to commit undeniable rascalry on the world’s vast sea of dancefloors and club spaces.

“Our Sola compilations allow us to showcase some of the best up and coming talent that we’ve handpicked from the scene. So many artists that have previously featured on our comps have gone on to absolutely smash it either with EPs directly with us or with other premium labels, and we’re so glad that we can be a part of that journey. Our newest comp, Sola’s Summer Of Rave 2021 sees newcomers to Sola like Hannah Laing with her huge tune “Records” and Morgan Cole with his twisted take on house with his track “Acid Talk” stand shoulder to shoulder with Sola alumni who’ve released with us before such as Andrew Meller. We cannot wait to play out all these tunes on a huge set of Funktion Ones when the clubs start reopening and the raves finally return!” – Solardo.

The VA bursts open with rising Scottish talent Hannah Laing and Records, a gritty and pumping tech cut with big room energy and raw melodies. The prolific Jay De Lys follows with Stay, a soul-driven rolling groover crammed with delightful percs and deep tones. Jamie Fielding comes next with Leak Of Courage, an analogue-heavy, stripped-back minimal tech number with glitchy energy and quirky wobbliness. Luke Lamor’s Wind Up Your Body kicks things back up a gear with rambunctious tech flair, blistering drums, eerie piano lines and potent vocal arrangements. Reblok & Andrew Meller follow with Espresso, a punchy terrace bomb with racy rhythm, hypnotic plucks and ripping synth lines. Lost On Mars comes next with Jungle Flute, an upbeat fusion of tribal and tech with a driving bassline and velvety flute riffs.

Mauro Venti’s Space Metrics hits you head-on with scattered hats, fluid rhythmics and a reeling acid bassline. Fabri Tacc, Ren Phillips & YINGYANG (UK) are next up with Brazy, a skipping tech cut with creative fills, a fetching bassline and catchy vocal hooks. Mandalo’s Soft Impact is an interesting mix of energetically rolling percussive-led tech and captivating vocal presence. Alvaro Smart follows with Latina, a thumping 4/4 lightning bolt infused with Latin sampling and a rumbling sub. Dubesque’s You Jack is a hip-shaking house cut with heavyset drums, blistering percussive flair and creative arrangement. Newcomer Morgan Cole comes through with Acid Talk, a skippy acid-led tech jam with a dominating vocal driver.

Brett Gould’s Brutal Game rumbles with low-frequency potency and gripping melodics from start to finish, making it a definite choice for those packed dancefloors. Niteplan is next up with Work For It, a punchy, pacy and raucous number with climactic FX and huge drops. Charlie Rice follows with the acid-led Night, another fast-paced and gritty tech weapon with coarse melodies and a hypnotic vocal. Mike Catherall’s Access Denied dives back into hip-shaking territory with a robust swinging groove and huge rhythmic sub. K-Mack and Andre Salmon come together on a huge collab named Muma destined to dominate dancefloors and finally Sola regular Alan Nieves closes the compilation with Predator, a delightfully underground and stripped-back groover with subtle tones and dusty percs, twisted and stretched throughout the track to keep you in a trance.

Check out the whole VA on Beatport Here.
