Boycot drops ‘Cliff Dub’ on new imprint Monarch Music

Share

Brand new label Monarch Music kicks off its life as a label with a bang by tapping Belgium’s Boycot for their first release titled ‘Cliff Dub’. A producer with releases on Syndrome Audio, The Dreamers, Symmetry Recordings and Dust Audio under his belt, he delivers a dive into the lands of bass with a track set to vibrate speakers. With a remix from Ill Truth on the flip, Monarch’s first record makes them one to keep an eye on.

‘Cliff Dub’ opens uncannily. Weightless pads and ascending percussion lines ring from the speakers, quickly joined by mechanised bass notes nestled in the midrange of the mix. It’s a tense introduction. A robust drum line propels ‘Cliff Dub’ forward: every kick drum pulsates; every clap pattern bristles.

Boycot reintroduces those mechanised bass notes from earlier, this time louder, more mutated, and accompanied by synapse-crunching distortion stabs. The percussion, once anchoring, is now a dizzying arrangement of rolling snare hits. Soaring pads subtly creep into the track, marking the beginning of the breakdown. A brief chance to catch your breath before returning to the thrill ride.

Ill Truth provides the remix. Doubling down on the crevice-deep feel of the original, the producer expands the mechanical bassline into a whipping riff that covers every square inch of the speaker. Underneath, that now-familiar robust drum section rumbles on, meaning both ‘Cliff Dub’ and its remix are undeniable bangers.

Today we premiere the original version of ‘Cliff Dub’ which you can check out below. The single drops on all platforms on 14th April 2022 but it’s on Juno for you to grab now here!
