NUDE 005: Jo Poole

With her love for techno, Jo Poole is well known for her track selections. Playing for some of the most respected parties in the capital, including Drumcode Halloween at Tobacco Dock, and with over 6 years under her belt, Jo is currently working hard to build her skill set as a techno producer.

In 2019 she spent 2 months in Manchester learning her production craft with Rudosa and Kreature and also attended a 5-day workshop in Berlin, taught by Juliet Fox, Paul Maddox (Spektre), Jon Verde (OC & Verde) and Mike Koglin (Sudhaus). In 2018 she was shortlisted into The Black Madonna’s top 10 for the Smirnoff Equalising Music Mentor Programme and in February 2017, Jo won the Cr2 Records & Evermix DJ competition.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Grindhouse feat. Danton Eeprom (Len Faki’s Hardspace Remix 2), I love the dark dirty vocal in it and I’ll never ever forget Carl Cox playing it at Space closing 🤯

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The energy

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
I played at EGG London just before Christmas to Evolve in the Basement (Sven Väth was headlining in the main room). I love that room and the vibe from the crowd was so good!

What have you got coming up?
I’m playing for Into The Darkness at Sunbird Records, just outside Manchester, this coming Saturday. I recently became a resident for a new brand called Serotonin, they have their first event in London on Sat 14th March. Headlining is Sinisa Tamamovic and a techno duo who will be announced soon!

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
