Renegade Masters: Protostar

UK-based artist Protostar is a key figure in the Drum & Bass scene. Since he began releasing with Monstercat in 2013, he has honed his unique signature sound, amassing over 53 million combined streams across various platforms. His distinctive style has caught the attention of industry heavyweights, leading to official remixes for artists like Darren Styles (Monstercat), NURKO (Proximity), Delta Heavy (RAM Records), and Dabin (Seeking Blue). Protostar’s knack for creating dancefloor-destroying bootlegs, such as his take on ‘Heads Will Roll’, has consistently impressed big names like A-Trak and others.

His talent for bootlegs also caught the ear of Minecraft soundtrack artist C418. Following Protostar’s bootleg of ‘Aria Math’, he was invited to create the soundtrack’s first official remix, ‘Aria Math (Protostar Remix)’. In recent years, Protostar has also ventured into video game soundtracks and the DJ circuit. His tracks ‘Galaxies’, ‘There and Back’, and ‘New Horizons’ are featured in Rocket League, and his music can also be found in Fortnite. Fans can catch these tracks live during one of his many performances, whether in the Netherlands or at festivals like NOX in the Woods and Liquicity.

This is just a glimpse of what’s in store for Protostar. With more genre-defining releases, exciting projects, and electrifying performances on the horizon, his future in the Drum & Bass scene looks incredibly bright.

Purely just for the love of the dance? Liquicity festival 2023, but I always hop in the crowd during shows that I’m also playing like last week in Tilburg!
