Moroccan-English talent Yazmina lands on Hottrax

Share

Jamie Jones’ definitive Hottrax welcomes Moroccan-English talent Yazmina for a thrilling three-tracker.

Yazmina infuses her sound with the grit and grime of her London hometown, mixing up tech, house, bass and garage with old-school r&b, hip hop and soul. Having already received support from tastemakers like Amine Edge & DANCE and Kevin McKay, she now makes an expansive debut on Jamie Jones’Hottrax.

This debut EP is a massive milestone for me, it has given me the confidence to experiment with my production and dig deeper into my sound. The three tracks combine classic soul and modern r&b vocal samples with heavy basslines, which for me capture the London music scene I grew up in.’ – Yazmina

Opener ‘Baby Ah Ah Ah’ brings relentless tech house energy with a filthy yet melodic bassline, whilst an alluring neo-soul vocal swirls up top to bring sensuousness to the heady sonics.

Next up is ‘Tears Of A Clown’, another turbocharged house sound powered by a nimble bassline and retro chords that bring colour as a classic Motown vocal sample lights up the groove in irresistible fashion. Closer ‘Get On Up’ shows a deeper and more stripped-back side to Yazmina‘s sound, with menacing vocal mutterings and razor-sharp percussion that cuts through the murky pads to round out a standout debut.

Yazmina ‘Give Me Your Love’ EP drops via Hottrax on 1st December 2023. We premiere ‘Baby Ah Ah Ah’ on Data Transmission, check it out here and grab it on Beatport.
