Hottrax has long been a go-to label for house heads around the globe, thanks to head honcho Jamie Jones’ legendary tastemaking providing a platform for breakout talents and diverse underground sounds. Following up on its six-part ‘Tripleution’ V/A series from last year, the label now launches a new series that offers a bumper selection of irresistible beats perfect for all hours of the night.

Rising star Emery (CH) opens up the release with ‘Keep It Cool’, a characterful cut with bristling breaks and piano stabs laced through the mix as clipped vocals and balmy pads bring warmth to the old-school motifs. 

Kinhaa‘s ‘Metal Elvis’ is a steely number where dry hits and twanging synths make for a futuristic groove, complete with a brilliantly melodic bassline and playful horns. Next up, BizZa’s ‘Real Dancing’ is low down and dirty with a dubby bassline and squelchy acid sounds topped with loose percussion that makes you want to move.

A three-way collab between Marian, Yolanda Be Cool & Fast Eddie means ‘Side To Side’ is an arresting tribal house jam drawing for funky Afro drum patterns designed to pump the party. Gustaff‘s ‘Caligula’ pairs things back with fizzing synth stabs lighting up the bouncing groove.

There is a raw filth in the bassline that roams beneath the crisp kicks and hits of Mariano Lunadei’s twitchy ‘Work That Body’ before Mene‘s ‘Cuttin 1000’ adopts a high-speed house sound with edgy synths and warped vocals adding plenty of unhinged character for freely late night floors.

Rounding out the V/A, Timid Boy & Frankov‘s ‘Holograma’ is a shuffling tech house beat fusing vocal fragments and laser-like synths shooting over the smooth, chord-laced grooves.

Manchester-based DJ and producer Collier has been honing his sound in the studio for four years, blending UKG, 90s House, and Disco. The up-and-coming talent now joins the Hottrax roster, making his production debut with ‘Freak’, which has already been in heavy rotation for label boss Jamie Jones.

Jamie Jones presents Hottrax, an underground-oriented label dedicated to showcasing the darker side of the dance floor.

Previously releasing on the likes of Nervous, CUFF, and Hellbent Records between them, the ‘b00M’ EP sees Brazilian natives Techin and Panna join forces for the first time, refining their respective sounds to build a set of no-nonsense, heads-down House rollers with a distinctive Latin twist.

“Making a track with Panna was something fluid, we did some online sessions and managed to bring a mix of identities, and we came up with a fantastic result in ‘b00M’. With ‘Complexo’, I tried to bring elements of House and progressive, and create a vibe that moves between hypnosis in the breaks and joy in the drops“.

The title track ‘b00M’ opens up with a jumble of fresh percussion over a marching beat and a monstrous bassline, but what really sets things alight are the electric vocal stabs and lively synths that dart about the mix. For ‘Complexo’, Techin goes solo, keeping it deep with a more playful and bouncy groove, this time with funky bass and lively melodic hooks full of jazzy soul.

Hailing from the province of Venice in Italy, Marco Rubin has been making music since his mid-teens, channelling inspiration from tastemakers such as Jamie Jones; Rubin should bring his three-track ‘Modular Dance’ EP to Jones’ Hottrax label this March.

First up is ‘Modular Dance’, a gritty and lo-fi sound with a paranoid lead synth snaking through an urban landscape, before ‘Follow The Time’ heads for more stripped-back territories that pack a punch with its kinetic kicks and dry basslines.

Florence talent Samuele Scelfo returns for his third outing on Jamie Jones’ lauded Hottrax imprint, following a huge 2023 that saw him land on labels from Sola to Repopulate Mars, with his standout track ‘Playin Around’ on the latter picking up over 500,000 streams on Spotify.

Scelfo joins forces with Side B, who is known for his edgy cuts on the likes of Mood Child and Of Unsound Mind, for the speaker-rattling ‘Vibrate’ – a ravey cut with a filthy bassline that drills down below crisp tech drums and Detroit-style synth stabs that will get hands in the air.

On the digital flip, Scelfo links with Davide T, a budding producer from Milan with credits on Moxy Muzik, Snatch! and CUFF. Together they impress with ‘Lollipop Kiss’, a wonky club track with woodpecker-style synth loops that are heavily filtered next to wobbly low-end and low-slung drums.

Bastian Bux was hugely busy in 2023 with standout cuts on his own Neverendz label, having already impressed on Eats Everything‘s Edible, elrow Music and Cuartero‘s Sanity. He hails from Barcelona and has shown himself to be endlessly creative in the studio – each new tune shows an evolution in his sound, whether vocal, deep, tech or beyond. Now, almost a decade into his career, he has played everywhere from Tomorrowland to Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas, and he now opens the year with a superb three-track EP on Hottrax.

The punchy ‘Dunns’ kicks off with tight, clipped tech house drums and chopped-up vocal stabs that eventually turn into streetwise bars drenched in attitude. ‘Dat Beat’ is just as fresh and sure to get crowds in a swat with its hardcore house grooves and twisted synths spraying about the mix. Throw in more well-treated vocal fragments and a fat bassline, and you have real club dynamite. Completing this essential hat trick is ‘Howyalldoin’, a more playful cut with a sun-kissed vibe thanks to its soulful male vocals and funky bass riffs.
