We’re excited to premiere Dimitri From Paris’ Club Mix of ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy’ by Anané, taken from the stunning remix package on Nervous Records. With Louie Vega and an all-star cast of remixers including Masters At Work, Mousse T, Moplen, Blackchild, and Two Soul Fusion, this release is a masterclass in reimagining soulful house music for the dancefloor.

Dimitri From Paris kicks things off with a funk-infused, string-laden groove, elevating Anané’s celestial vocals with an irresistible disco-meets-house rhythm. His Club Mix is pure dancefloor euphoria—swirling strings, strutting guitars, and a percussive bounce that radiates joy and energy. It’s a track that transports you straight to sun-drenched terraces and late-night dancefloors, reminding us why Dimitri remains one of the most revered selectors in the game.

Anané describes the remix package as a celebration of musical reinvention, saying: “It’s amazingly beautiful how various interpretations give new life to the song.” Nervous Records echoes this sentiment, acknowledging that in challenging times, music has the power to uplift, energize, and inspire change—and this release is a testament to that spirit.

With the full remix suite already making waves, Dimitri From Paris’ Club Mix stands tall as a glittering, groove-laden anthem ready to set dancefloors alight. Stream it now on Data Transmission, and get ready for the digital release on 7th February 2025, with the vinyl already available via Nervous Records.

Brooklyn native and Love On Cropsey label head Mink has become a mainstay of both Brooklyn and Ibiza’s nightlife scenes delivering a level of consistency and sophistication in his sets seldom seen these days.

Rare cuts featuring seductive melodies, cheeky vocals, and thick hypnotic rhythms are woven together seamlessly in his sets providing a truly unique and warm experience. Aligning with some of the world’s biggest house/techno brands, Mink shows no signs of slowing down.

Mink has unveiled his own label, Love On Cropsey, encapsulating the sonic heartbeat of decades past and present. Mink has today released the label’s inaugural EP ‘NY/LDN,’ a four-track collection of dancefloor-ready grooves in collaboration with rising London star Azaad.  The imprint channels the rich musical identity of New York’s house scene, with the label’s name paying homage to the street Mink’s grandparents used to live on.

Speaking on the label’s first release, Mink said:  “I see this release having something for everyone across the world’s dancefloors, starting with NY & LDN. Happy to have this label’s first release with Azaad & myself. He’s one of my favorite producers on the come up. From our first conversation we shared a mutual respect for the scene and its amazing history. What better way to start Love On Cropsey”

We sat down with Mink to get to know him…

Hey Mink, welcome to DT. How’s your year going?

Hello, Hello! This year is going great. Excited for 2024

Can you introduce yourself to anyone who doesn’t know you?

The name is Mink, DJ/Producer from New York

Where are you based currently?

Currently in Brooklyn, New York

What inspired you to get into music?

I have been in clubs since the age of 13. From attending and being involved with teen parties. I started playing shortly after and never looked back.

Your First EP ‘NY/LDN’ With Azaad’ is coming out on your own label can you tell us about the plans for the label and how the EP come about?

The label will be a musical expression of moods. You’ll get a little of everything. Dancefloor cuts, groovers, deep etc. This EP came together when I was in Ibiza. Azaad and I spoke for months about how we wanted to approach this EP after I signed the highly supported “Be My Love”.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

UUFF that’s tough. I would say my biggest influence would be the true New York sound of the 90s. Which to me is the most important decade in house music. My favourite producers of that era and still doing it – Masters At Work (Louie Vega, Kenny Dope), Danny Tenaglia, and David Morales. So many to name but I would say these dudes are important to me as a DJ and producer.

How would you best describe your sound?

House music with hypnotic flavor, seductive melodies & infectious grooves.

What does a typical day in the life of Mink look like?

Typically, don’t have a set routine per day. Per week, I would say I hit my studio 3 to 4 days & dig for music the rest of the days. Each day is TBD.

What is your best advice to anyone starting out in the industry as a producer?

Create your own lane but still make it work for today’s sound. Stay away from Top 100. Create what you feel, not a version of something you heard.

What are your hobbies outside of music and production?

I Love stand-up comedy & listening to informative podcasts. Also worth a mention I love following basketball & combat sports.

Are you working on any new material?

Yes finishing up a bunch of solo projects and collabs for 2024

What can we expect from you in the next year?

Love On Cropsey releases & playing in more countries!

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?

I think all of it is a highlight. I get to play music and make people dance. I have become friends with so many of my inspirations. At the core that is what is most important to me!

Grammy winner and 6x nominee, with a career spanning over 20 years. Louie Vega is a mega force in the House Music industry with no signs of slowing down. A leader in global dance music, Louie Vega has painted an award-winning career from a palette mixed with everything from house, salsa and afro-beat, to jazz, hip hop, gospel and soul.

What distinguishes the Grammy winner and 7-time nominee as one of the best living house music deejays is his ability to evolve alongside the times, distil the current musical landscape through his unique taste and put his own timeless spin on all the music he creates.

“Little” Louie Vega, as he is sometimes affectionately known, was born in the Bronx into a musically gifted family (his father is a jazz saxophonist and his uncle, Salsa King Héctor Lavoe). The “Little” moniker is ironic, given the fact that by the 80s he was deejaying at clubs he wasn’t even old enough to attend, holding residencies at Studio 54, Devil’s Nest, Heartthrob, Roseland and playing at the Palladium, Area, 1018 and other seminal New York City Clubs.

For BBE Music’s landmark 500th release, the label joins forces with Louie Vega, Leroy Burgess and Patrick Adams to revisit ‘Barely Breaking Even’, the iconic track after which the label is named.

Louie joins us on the podcast today, listen to it below, on Spotify or iTunes here

Returning to the notorious grounds of Trent Park in North London for its 5 year anniversary, 51st State Festival made their yearly comeback for their biggest party to date, following their sold out 4th edition. They returned with an unrivalled and unique line-up, pulling together the most aspirational names in house music in particular, as well as Disco, Garage, Soul and more. This year featured stages hosted by Groove Odyssey, Backto95, Channel One Sound System, FOUND and We Love Soul. It truly was an authentic celebration of real house music.

We arrived at Trent Park around 3pm and headed straight over to the Groove Odyssey mainstage to catch the end of Soul Clap. With the duo blaring their old school disco tunes, it set the tone for the big names yet to come on this stage. Keen to explore the roots of house music we were eager to catch Dennis Ferrer then Louie Vega and David Morales (Kings Of House NYC) who were still to follow, before the big man himself Kerri Chandler, set to close the Groove Odyssey mainstage.

Looking across the programme, the line-up was incredible across 7 stages which featured some of the best DJs who have been dominating the scene over the last few years and even decades. Torn between who to see next we were drawn in by Dennis Ferrer who was giving the crowd what they wanted early in the day, blaring some fantastic classic beats as the sun went down. The crowd were filled with energy however, a momentary speaker malfunction prompted a pause, but this was resurrected quickly with Ferrer seamlessly bringing back the vibe, not phased at all by this blip. Blending classic house, techno and funk classics, the grooves were flowing, and the night had only just begun.

We decided it was time to branch out and explore more of the arena, which included catching the end of Kevin Saunderson and start of Roger Sanchez at the Found tent. The party was in full swing by the time we got there and at this point it was evident that there really were tents for everyone, with the festival focusing strongly on incorporating a wide variety of influential sound. The Back to 95 stage was blaring out some of the finest UK Garage such as Crystal Waters who dropped her legendary tune ‘Gypsy Woman’. They took over the tent after the surprise guest of the day DJ EZ, who had sweat dripping in the arena as he tore up the tent.

Although we ventured out throughout the day, something kept drawing me back to the mainstage. The vibe was superb, and we did not want to miss the Kings of House NYC, Louie Vega, David Morales and special guest Julie McKnight. She really added something unique to a classic DJ set, with her incredible voice accompanying the beat behind. Needless to say, they did not disappoint, and the crowd were more than warmed up for the well-anticipated closing set by Kerri Chandler. He undoubtedly had the crowd moving as always, smashing out the tech-house tunes as he brought his usual enthusiasm for what he does, dropping his iconic sound and dance classics.

For those who were not ready to finish the party just yet, you could join the after party that was hosted at Ministry of Sound Club from 11pm right through the night until 6am. Featuring some legendary DJs who had already had us grooving all day, such as Roger Sanchez, Soul Clap & more.

After a full day of dancing, 51st State Festival was over for us for another year. We can’t wait to celebrate next time!

Louie Vega and David Morales aka Kings Of House NYC will be playing an exclusive 5 hour b2b set at the official WMC Opening Party on 26th March.

Dance music in the second decade of 2000 is about one word – BIG. The tracks and remixes are big, the new breed of big room DJs are akin to demigods and live events have reached a scale never before seen. However, the global sensation and penetration of dance music into top 40 radio would not have been possible without a foundation built by David Morales – one of the first true superstar DJs.

A leader in global dance music, Louie Vega has painted an award-winning career from a palette mixed with everything from salsa and afro-beat, to jazz, hip-hop and soul. What distinguishes the Grammy winner and 5-time nominee as one of the best living house music deejays is his ability to evolve alongside the times, distill the current musical landscape through his unique taste and put his own timeless spin on all the music he creates.

Having attended Southport Weekender’s inaugural London festival last year, I jumped at the opportunity to review this year’s outing for a few reason’s 1) I had a lovely time last year and 2) It would be interesting to see if the Southport guys could tweak a few teething problems (mainly iffy sound) and come up with something even better for 2018?

For those that aren’t aware the Southport Weekender organisation are no stranger to throwing great events having held their namesake events for 28 years (they actually stopped running their weekender events up North in 2015) and are also involved in the Suncebeat festival in Croatia. It was a pleasant surprise to see SPW return last year to stake a claim for what some could suggest was a rightful place at the ever-evolving/growing London festival table?

© Photography by Wisdom Makubile for Here & Now (fb.com/wearehereandnow)

Could they improve on a great first innings? The line up didn’t really have any huge surprises and was very reflective of both last years line up and their events in general, but this isn’t a criticism, the reliability of a line up can be make or break for events and the Southport crew tend to fall in to the ‘If it ain’t broke’ category.

I might as well get this out of the way: I’m like a pig in shit with lineups like Southport’s. I’m literally spoilt for choice. Not only do you get pioneers of the House, Disco and Soul scenes, people like Roger Sanchez, DJ Spen, Josh Milan and Grant Nelson, but you also get a huge selection of London mainstay DJs who have propped up the underground and the airwaves (both pirate and legal) for decades, DJs like Neil Pierce and Ronnie Herel. They go toe to toe with fresh talent like Soulmuch who will be taking the more traditional sound represented at Southport, on to a healthy future.

Not only is it a veritable soulful smorgasbord of DJs and live acts, but it’s hard not to bump into a smiling face that I’ve not seen for X amount of years when we last caught up at a House FM event, or at Bobby and Steve’s infamous Garage City parties. The crowd at Southport are definitely loyal, I give them that.

© Photography by Josh Hiatt for Here & Now (www.fb.com/wearehereandnow)

But let’s stop the fanboying and try and objectively get down to the nuts and bolts…

The actual set up was very similar to last year with your standard big top style tents in various sizes along with some open-sided tents, but there were more tents, nine in fact if you included the VIP and VVIP areas that were tucked away behind the main Powerhouse Arena.

We started off going to check Sandy Rivera in the Powerhouse Arena but after about twenty minutes I thought to myself, ‘Sandy has a lovely head of hair, why would he have a cap on?’ ‘Maybe he’s having a bad hair day?’ We were actually watching Groove Assassin as Sandy was running late, so we took the opportunity to have a swift survey of what else was going on. We caught Karizma playing his and Spen’s remix of Sean Escoffrey ‘Days Like This’, Neil Peirce taking on the unenviable task of playing after the House Gospel Choir, who had a packed Deep Into Soul arena in the palm of their hands and Jazzie B playing personalised dubplate after dubplate. We finished this recce off by popping into the Liverpool Disco festival tent. I seem to recall last year this tent being a bit quiet. This year it was the polar opposite but the sound was actually distorting quite a bit, unfortunately, so we went to investigate the VIP area.

© Photography by Wisdom Makubile for Here & Now (fb.com/wearehereandnow)

I recognise that hair!! Yep, it was Sandy Rivera who had asked to spin a bit at the VVIP area having missed his main set earlier and the open-sided area soon was full to the brim singing along to ‘Finally’ one of the finest house records ever made. We stayed put to see Soulmuch ably take over from Sandy and keep the soulful vibes flowing as well as the Red Stripe.
Talking of booze, Southport Weekender Festival had an NFC (Near Field Communication) wristband payment system in operation. Basically you ‘top up’ your wristband in the same way you would top up your Oyster Card and of course drinks are odd numbers and not a nice round fiver, so thousands of people will have the odd few quid stuck on their wristband and won’t be bothered about going through the process of claiming that back. Crafty.

It had dawned on me that I had missed the return of the S Men as Roger Sanchez, DJ Sneak and Junior Sanchez had reformed to take over the Powerhouse. There were quite a few other acts I was keen on seeing, like Jazzanova and with the sound and production seemingly improved from last year, the only thing outside of the beer bands that I could possibly question is the fact the line is so stacked, however that is obviously a good problem to have. To highlight this the last sets across the stages had the following DJs playing: David Morales (with live Pas from Alison Limerick, Robert Owens and Juliet Roberts), Joey Negro, Osunlade, Louie Vega, Jazzy Jeff and Grant Nelson. Crazy eh?

© Photography by Wisdom Makubile for Here & Now (fb.com/wearehereandnow)

Grant Nelson was one of my highlights from last year, so it made sense to start off watching him. The plan was to stay a while and then catch a few others before sneaking off into the night. Grant’s set was so enthralling and the crowd so into it, we didn’t leave. I got speaking to a guy called Tank (not quite sure if that was his birth name?) who had some huge headphones hanging around his neck “They’re for if the music gets a bit shit” he said. I kid you not. There was no need for those whilst Grant was playing as he weaved his way through a disco-tinged set with a smattering of his personal edits, bopping away with a smile on his face the size of the Cheshire Cat from Alison In Wonderland.

© Photography by Josh Hiatt for Here & Now (www.fb.com/wearehereandnow)

That beaming smile was representative of the whole day in a nutshell. Southport Weekender has the heritage, experience, vibe and following to be a yearly mainstay and to cement themselves as a force to be reckoned with on the UK Festival calendar. Hopefully, by next year they’ve worked out how to clone humans so I can catch even more acts than I did this year.
