Space Jump Salute chooses his Top 5 tunes that inspired me to become a DJ/Producer

Birmingham DJ/Producer Space Jump Salute (Marcus Sadler) is fast making himself a name not to be missed for 2019 with no sign of slowing down. He has become increasingly known over the last 2 years releasing music on labels such as Toolroom, Abode, Roush, Formatik, Glasgow Underground, Cr2, Armada Subjekt, Stashed Music, Love & Other, BumpCut and Undr the Radr.

Space Jump Salute heads out to play a number of shows at this year’s ADE including the Shanghaied and Stashed Music parties. Future releases are coming on labels including Daylight Robbery, Farris Wheel, Freakin909, WyldCard and PlayPo ensuring that the year ends on a high and 2020 starts with a bang for the fast-rising star.

Space Jump Salute plays our Shanghaied x TAKE Amsterdam Networking drinks on Thursday 17th from 5pm-1pm at the Park Plaza Amsterdam, he joins Kadenza, James Burton, Rich Wakley and of course our very own Wax Worx from Shanghaied Records for more info head to facebook.

Fatboy Slim – Right Here, Right Now

Like many people, Norman Cook was a huge reason I got into electronic music, sampling and djing in general. It goes without saying it’s a classic that was like nothing else I’d ever heard before. Growing up I played in many different bands of various genres from Metal, funk and jazz but ‘Right Here, Right Now’ really opened my eyes to different styles of music and how they can be made.

Groove Armada – Superstylin’

This is just a full-on banger and always goes off. When I first heard this track it really got me into the idea of djing and playing parties. For me, it is still House but has a classic Groove Armada sound.

Breach – Jack

What is there to say about this track, it was everywhere and was inescapable. I first heard this track while I was djing at my first residency gig and it just blew me away. It really introduced me to a whole other side of house music. The minimal sound of Dirtybird the power of the bass and the catchy vocal are all still things I try and implement in my music now. 

Hifana – Fresh Push Breakin’ – Intro (No Sequence Fresh Push Mix)

Not sure if many people know of this duo, I first saw them on a Nike shoe advert and I just had to look into them more. Their use of samples and glitching was something I took away and still use in my music. Not so much the glitching but how to get the most out of a sample rather than just taking it on face value. (Also seriously check out that advert, it’s all really played live with effects strips built into the shoes!).

Shadow Child – So High

I had always been a huge fan of Simon Neale’s Dave Spoon alias and sadly didn’t realise he was Shadow Child for a while. Once I heard this track though I was fully onboard and still am. He just has a way of finding the best drums and making such simple catchy basslines. One everyone should definitely check out!
