5 Facts / 5 Tracks: Harrison

When an artist’s first ever release is a collaboration with David Guetta, you know they’re set for good things. This was the case for the multi-faceted UK-artist Harrison who for the past 10 years has been responsible for a clutch of anthem-built records that’d been picked up by vital labels including disco:wax, Selected and most recently, Perfect Havoc.

With skills in abundance that also includes vocals, song writing and DJing, Harrison is now a multiplatinum selling artist. He can thank his collaboration with ALOK on Bronski Beat’s iconic classic ‘Tell Me Why’ for that, which generated an enormous 40 million streams on Spotify.

Fans of Harrison’s music will notice a slight shift in style in his latest single. ‘Dancing’ – released via the independent UK label, Perfect Havoc – moves away from the big room EDM sound into cooler house realms, showcasing the musical journey the creative Harrison is now travelling.

My new song Dancing was created in just two hours from start to finish. The inspiration came after an exciting day of kite surfing in North Norfolk. The song was recorded using a Sony C800G microphone, adding to the professional feel of the track.

5 Facts

My first song I ever released was ‘Ain’t a Party’ with David Guetta; it was an incredible experience. David is a musical icon and to have the opportunity to collaborate with him was truly a dream come true. The whole process was incredibly cool, from writing the song together to recording and producing it in the studio. It was an honour to have my first ever release be with such a talented and renowned artist. The song itself embodies the energy and excitement of a party and I couldn’t be more proud of the final product. It was an unforgettable experience and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to work with David.

Slash, the legendary guitarist best known for his work with Guns N’ Roses flew to Mallorca and stayed round my house when I was 23 for a week with his family. I can’t reveal the how’s and why’s of this fact, you’ll just have to trust me it happened!

I got a free safari when I played H20 festival in South Africa. Everyone (all the other DJs playing the festival) got so drunk the night before that no one showed up for the lions hunt at 4am, so it was just me and the guide which was amazing! Interesting fact; Lions are the only big cats that have manes, which are unique to each individual and used to attract mates and intimidate rivals.

I have been growing my hair for two years. And I had no idea how curly it would get at the time.

I kite surf four times a week between April and October. For those not in the know, kite surfing involves using a large kite to propel a surfer across the water on a board and gives big air jumps as high as a double decker bus (or higher), often reaching speeds of over 50 mph.

I don’t really listen to much dance music when I’m not making it myself as I find doing the same thing all the time gives you no creativity. I listen to so many other genres but mostly punk and rock / soul.

He is considered one of the most influential guitarists in history born on November 27, 1942. He was self-taught and played left-handed on a right-handed guitar. He released three studio albums in his lifetime before his untimely death at the age of 27.

The Maine – Inside Of You

The Maine is known for their unique approach to releasing music, often opting for more creative and interactive methods. For example, in 2013, the band released an album called ‘Pioneer’ as a scavenger hunt, hiding physical copies of the album in various locations for fans to find. The band has also released several “modular” albums, where fans can piece together different versions of the album based on different themes and order the tracks however they like. This innovative approach has helped solidify The Maine’s connection with their fans and has made them one of the most interesting and engaging bands in the alternative rock scene.

John Mayer – Something Like Olivia

Did you know Mayer is a skilled collector and restorer of vintage guitars? He has been known to own a number of rare and unique guitars, including a 1959 Martin D-28 acoustic and a 1956 Fender Stratocaster, both of which are highly prized by collectors.
