Whiney’s Top 10 Bangers of 2018

Share

One of the newest additions to Hospital Records sister label Med School is the hugely talented Whiney. Over the last few years, he has developed an impressive skill set, successfully carving out his signature sound and passion for drum and bass. Last year Whiney truly set the drum & bass scene alight with his incredible debut album ’Talisman’. A 12 track beauty with a seamless mix of dancefloor weapons, deep rollers, melancholic moments and collaborations with Urbandawn, Keeno and MC Inja. He has subsequently followed that up with another masterpiece in the shape of ‘Waystone’ which was released last month.

We were lucky enough to catch part of his set at last years Hospitality In The Park and were blown away! Whiney is definitely one to watch out for as he continually pushes the boundaries of what both his sound and the genre is capable of!

Here he gives his Top 10 bangers of 2018.

1. Whiney – The Capital

I enjoyed writing this one and felt it was a good fit for the album opener. Had to replace a lot of the original samples as they were from 90s jungle tunes but really pleased with how it turned out.

2. Chase & Status – Retreat 2018

C&S taking me back to the sounds of their first album. Love the vocal sample and the use of classic fx.

3. Shy FX – Roll The Dice

My fave tune of 2018, easy.

4. DJ Die – Clear Skyz

Game changer. Bad boy business from the DJ Die.

5. GROUND – Attract

Big tune from a producer that’s just come up on my radar. Looking forward to hearing more from this guy.

6. Whiney – Mission ft. Inja

More inspirational goodness from the Cheshire cat and myself.

7. T>I – Dye Migration

My fave dub of 2018, that bassline!!

8. Brookes Brothers – Every Minute (Bladerunner Rmx)

Awesome flip on the original- probs my fave remix of 2018!

9. Whiney – Dismissed

Inspired by my tune ‘Sleek’, had to get a proper roller finished and sorted for the album pot.

10. DJ Limited – Buss It

Phwoar.

Whiney – ‘Waystone’ LP is now available on 12″ Vinyl, and across all major digital and streaming platforms from here
