It is now a decade since Nick Curly announced himself on the international stage, and the Mannheim artist remains very much at the heart of the scene. Still innovating in the studio, subtly evolving his sound and serving up forward thinking sets around the world, he has continued to establish his 8Bit label as one of the most influential out there.
Recent years have also seen Nick branch out with Trust, his own carefully curated event series. Each one finds him play in handpicked locations around the world from Sonus Festival to Watergate, Mint Club in Leeds to The Bow in Buenos Aires via BPM Festival, Fabric and Razzmatazz and ZT Hotel, Barcelona. Playing with him are a choice selection of his friends and peers and each party allows dancers deep into Nick Curly’s musical world.
That world continues to take in slick, infectious tech house sounds that range in mood and come on labels like Knee Deep in Sound and Truesoul, as well as, mostly, his own mighty 8Bit. Of course, Nick also ran Cecille until a few years ago, and it helped introduce the world to the now much loved Mannheim sound. The label’s goal was always to prise quality over quantity, and so went into extended hiatus in order to stay true to that. As more and more people continue to send Nick exciting demos, though, he feels the time might soon be right for it to return.

5 Facts
What a lot of people don’t know is that I worked for Mercedes-Benz for ten years before I made DJing my main job. I am a trained industrial mechanic and had even started studying to become a mechanical engineering technician when my career took off. I often hung up on weekends and went back to work at 6:00 a.m. on Monday mornings.
Then we come straight to fact number 2. It’s probably because of my time with Mercedes that I still wake up so early in the morning and am actually not a night owl. I love going to bed early and getting up between five and six in the morning. I have three dogs and I walk them every morning at this time.
I guess I’m proud to come from the generation that grew up without a cell phone and without MP3 or similar format but started out as a DJ with vinyl. The weekly ritual of driving to another city and listening to the new vinyl and then very selectively buying one or two because they were of course relatively expensive compared to today’s MP3s.
My family has our own vineyard and we produce our own wine. It is a big tradition in my family to drink wine and not too little
Another fact is that I went to Ibiza for my first ever Ibiza booking, for Zoo Project and in the same week I got a second request for Space and then I became space resident for my own night called Kehakuma

A summer and good mood track. I’m looking forward to play it again in Ibiza like every year. 100% positive vibes. Please more of these
Andomat 3000 – Vertical Smile
One of your faves to work with. Outstanding producer, which we all knew from his Ep´s on Labels like Cadenza, such a shame he stopped with music.Vertical Smile got rated as best techno track at WMC Miami the year it came out.
Onur Özer – Orion
Still one of my favourite records. For years I’ve been using it as a secret weapon, especially on after-hour sets. The track has this incredible energy that inspires every listener
Fioretti – San Pol
One of my most played tracks of the last few years on my label 8Bit.
An absolutel timeless monster and I’m already looking forward to plan the next ep with this great artist.
Johnny D – Love or Leave Me
Yeah, what can you say to Johnny D.? He is definitely one of the most talented house producers in our Rhein-Main area, if not from all over Germany.
His style and soul are simply unique. Everything fits, so it was a summer hit and was played by all DJs of different genres.
