LWE announce brand new ION Festival

The beautiful beach-lined scenery of Dhërmi on the Albanian Riviera is set to welcome 3000 guests to the first-ever ION Festival. Taking place between 2nd and 9th September this will be a celebration of unforgettable electronic music, restoration and exploration.

Situated on Albania’s unrivalled picturesque coastline, the village of Dhërmi is famous to locals and holidaymakers for its picturesque landscape, laid-back atmosphere, exquisite cuisine and unique culture. It will provide the perfect destination for the debut ION Festival Albania.

ION is the latest festival from LWE, the longstanding team behind countless acclaimed music events in the UK, including London’s Junction 2 Festival.

There are eight different and unique stages planned for ION Festival 2020!

The Main Stage is an open-air haven, a safe harbour set into a private cove providing an inimitable setting for the festival’s headline acts.

The Bunker is a huge indoor space of blasted concrete pillars and labyrinthine passageways and will provide the ideal environment for the world’s leading artists from the world of house, techno and electronic music.

The Deck is a spacious beachside stage.

The Cove is surrounded by the rambling woodlands which line the coast.

The Yacht Club juts out over the Ionian Sea from its position on top of a rocky outcrop.

The Canyon is enclosed by a dramatic, imposing rock face that shields the location from the world.

The Castle stage is set up on a rocky hill and the 19th century abandoned castle will play host to a very special event at ION.

The Sub Base stage is an ex-military submarine base set into the side of a mountain. All stone and rusting steel, work on the Sub Base started in 1969 and finished almost 20 years later and is now used for navy training.

Alongside the massive musical offerings, ION attendees will be able to take part in meditation, sound baths, yoga, paddle boarding, hiking and snorkelling. Local food is often described as a mix of Greek, Italian and Turkish in addition to the rich, slow-cooked recipes and local seafood that the region is known for.

Proceeds from the festival will go to charities working on the relief effort following the tragic earthquake in Tirana, Albania in November.
