Sydney Blu & Dantiez have combined on the brand new ‘FREAK’ EP coming out on HE.SHE.THEY on Friday 9th August.
When Canadian trailblazer & all-round electronic music standard-bearer, Sydney Blu, teams up with Dantiez, member of legendary Inner City and son of the Techno pioneer, Kevin Saunderson, the resulting FREAK EP is an instant knockout: not one, but two thundering club tracks.
“Super hyped to drop our new EP, ‘Freak,’ and make my debut on He-She-They with my girl Sydney Blu, featuring the captivating vocals of Demetrius. channeling those classic Chicago/Detroit house vibes on this one that’ll have the dance floors rockinnn. Who’s ready to get their freak on?”
DANTIEZ
Ever-evolving Sydney Blu is no stranger to chart success. Her prolific musical output frequently rides atop the Beatport charts, recently culminating in a prestigious JUNO nomination for Electronic Album of the Year.
“I’m thrilled about this EP and the opportunity to release it with HE.SHE.THEY. Working with Dantiez is always a great artistic synergy; this track came together seamlessly. It captures the essence of classic house vibes while highlighting Demetrius’s incredible vocal talent.”
SYDNEY BLU
Meanwhile, Dantiez, emerging from the legendary echelons of Detroit’s electronic music scene, inherits a mighty legacy with the Saunderson name but, he sure delivers, with records out on Toolroom, Defected and Black Book Records, to name a few.
As a pairing of tracks, the FREAK EP is a stunning work of art, showcasing both Sydney Blu’s and Dantiez’s distinctive blending of dancefloor-rich House rhythms with that soulful energy of Detroit Techno, building on heritage with future-focused style.
Completing the dynamic team on the title track is Demetrius with their sultry vocals, flying the flag for all the “freaks” of the world. Needless to say, FREAK is infinitely sexy: beyond the striking lyrics, everything in the production proclaims empowering confidence. Full-bodied bass, masterful control of its rhythms and a piano hook that recalls both producer’s early Detroit Techno/ Classic House influences.
On the B-side, Sydney & Dantiez treat us to a fine slice of House excellence with the aptly named, House Thing, and it’s rejoiceful lyrics: “Sing that love. Find that love. Hold that love. Keep that love. It’s a House Thing.”
