Over the years, the venue has gone by many names, including The Ballroom, the Top Rank Suite, Hummingbird, Carling Academy, and O2 Academy. It’s hosted everyone from The Clash to The Beastie Boys, Nirvana to Bob Marley & The Wailers, Amy Winehouse, and Ed Sheeran.

“I’m extremely passionate about preserving Birmingham’s rich musical heritage and our work culminates with Forum Birmingham. After a massive set at Rampage this summer, Belgian Drum & Bass maestro Basstripper has officially dropped his crowd-favourite banger, ‘Time To Go.’ This track has already been shaking sound systems around the globe all year and is quickly becoming a staple in the scene.

Basstripper, known off-stage as Jeroen Stevens, has been steadily climbing the ranks in the Drum & Bass world. Hailing from Leuven, Belgium, he’s made a name for himself with his relentless energy and cutting-edge productions. Basstripper initially started as a DJ, honing his craft in the underground scenes of Belgium, before stepping into production, where he truly began to shine.

‘Time To Go’ is a prime example of Basstripper’s signature style, blending unique soundscapes with powerful basslines that hit hard. It’s no wonder this track has gained so much support—it follows in the footsteps of his previous hits, like last summer’s viral sensation, ‘In The City’, which solidified him as a key player in the contemporary bass music scene.

Basstripper’s rise hasn’t been by chance. His dedication to the craft is evident in every release, and his relentless work ethic has led him to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the industry. Over the years, he’s shared the stage with heavyweights like Andy C, Wilkinson, and Sub Focus, and his sets are known for their high energy and seamless mixing, often leaving crowds in awe.

Basstripper’s been on a roll, supporting big names like Bou and B-Live during their Australian tour last November. He’s also been flexing his remix skills, reworking Netsky’s ‘Hell in High Heels’ at the end of 2023, and more recently, dropping a remix of Friction’s ‘Supersonic’ this January. His DNB Allstars release, ‘Hazmat / Deserted,’ is still making waves on the DJ circuit, further proving his ability to craft tracks that are in high demand.

Beyond his work behind the decks and in the studio, Basstripper is also deeply connected to the community. He’s been an advocate for the local scene in Belgium, often mentoring up-and-coming producers and DJs, helping to foster the next generation of talent.

‘Time To Go’ perfectly encapsulates Basstripper’s fresh, lively sound, featuring drilling basslines, crisp snares, and tight drum programming. The track’s powerful breaks and twisted synths are engineered for maximum dancefloor impact, while the edgy vocals add just the right amount of attitude.

With this latest release, Basstripper continues to push boundaries, and it’s clear he’s just getting started. Expect more fire from him in the near future—this is only the beginning. Keep an eye out for his upcoming projects, as he’s set to leave an even bigger mark on the global drum and bass landscape.

It’s the end of July and British festival season is well and truly underway. The nights are light, the days are long and the youth of the UK wait in anticipation for the highlights of their year. Early summer festivals like Love Saves the Day and Forbidden Forest have whet the appetite and filled Instagram feeds with summer-raving content, but the biggest are yet to come. Every year, Boomtown, Creamfields and Reading & Leeds festivals mark the most important dates in thousands of British ravers’ calendars. But Drum & Bass fever is by no means unique to the United Kingdom. It’s no secret that Central Europe, Australia and New Zealand share our love for the genre, with well-established culture, production and events but, this year more than ever, it’s clear that Drum & Bass is going truly global.

Until recently, if you’d heard of Drum & Bass being played overseas, it would be relatively safe to assume that it would be in one of two regions: Central Europe or Australasia. These two parts of the world have longstanding reputations when it comes to Drum & Bass. The Czech Republic, for example, hosts arguably the biggest DnB-specific festival in the world in Let It Roll, whose star-studded line-up has lived up to expectations every year for nearly a decade. Belgium and the Netherlands also have a history with Drum & Bass, with the former playing host to the highly respected Rampage festival, and the latter the home to the Liquicity label and festival. Australia, home of legendary group Pendulum, is a recognised Southern Hemisphere hub for the genre, but Aotearoa (New Zealand) is probably a more established stronghold. Here, it’s so popular it’s virtually mainstream. Turn on George FM at any time of the day and you can find Drum & Bass on the radio almost 24/7.

But more recently, we’re starting to see a wider variety of venues play host to Drum & Bass. Certainly, in Europe, you can find regular events in France, Switzerland, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia and Germany organised by Get in Step, Hospitality and Liquicity. DnB Allstars recently hosted a festival in Portugal, having staged a similar event in Spain in 2022, while Croatia’s week-long Hospitality on the Beach has become a bucket-list event for ravers since launching in 2018. While both impressive and encouraging, expansion within Europe is far from surprising. Most recently, DJs have been breaking new ground outside the continent, performing in fascinating venues in Asia and large-scale events in the United States.

Take the middle weekend in June, for example. Drum & Bass was being played simultaneously across three separate continents, by some of the most recognisable names in the genre. On Saturday 15th June 2024, while Chase & Status were performing on the shores of Lake Como (Italy) at Nameless Festival, the Hospitality trio of Whiney, Degs and Anaïs were playing the final date of their Australia, New Zealand and Asia tour in Bangkok (Thailand); Grafix was headlining a club night in Pheonix, Arizona (USA); and S.P.Y, Fred V and London Elektricity were in Bali (Indonesia) for Locus Festival. You might dismiss this as a coincidence, but it’s really an insightful illustration of the global expansion of Drum & Bass over the last few years. And it’s by no means a one-off. This year, Asia has been well catered for by the Hospitality tour, with dates in Singapore and Seoul in the middle of May and four consecutive dates for India in June, with Whiney, Degs and Anaïs stopping off at New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

But the region that has attracted the most attention in terms of its growing interest in Drum & Bass is the USA. Until recently, received wisdom was that Drum & Bass was a British phenomenon, unsuited to American culture. British and American definitions of raves were seen to be incompatible. But those attempting to export the genre across the Atlantic refused to be obstructed. The most well-known example is the Worship group, made up of genre leaders Dimension, Sub Focus, Culture Shock and 1991. These four have spoken publicly about the frustrations of “half-empty clubs” in America and, in 2020, set out to conquer the American market once and for all. Since then, they have completed three North American tours, which have made an undeniable impact. Just this year, festivals across the States have featured these and other well-known Drum & Bass DJs, attracting healthy crowds. Chase & Status, Hedex, Bou and Andy C were booked for Ultra Miami in March, Kenya Grace represented the scene at Coachella in April and Delta Heavy, K Motionz and Mefjus played at Orlando’s Forbidden Kingdom at the start of June. The pinnacle of US growth, however, undeniably came as the Worship quartet played a closing hour-and-a-half set to 30,000 American ravers at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas in May of this year.

The majority of the artists cited in these international events are British. Perhaps that’s not a surprise given that the UK is the birthplace of the genre. It’s undeniable that Drum & Bass has been a resounding success as a cultural export. But for this popularity to be more than a flash in the pan, it’s necessary for local DJs to perpetuate interest in their various regions. Fortunately, there are numerous examples of DJs from around the world who are carrying the torch internationally. Again, Europe provides a plethora of recognisable names: Austria’s Camo & Krooked, the Netherlands’ Andromedik, Belgium’s Netsky, Russia’s Synergy and France’s The Caracal Project. Aotearoa (New Zealand) has produced top artists like Lee Mvtthews and Elipsa, as well as young talents like Rova; while Australia boast Pendulum, Ekko & Sidetrack, ShockOne and Luude among their products. Excitingly, recognised producers can now also be found in Asia, like Sri Lanka’s IYRE or Japan’s Makoto. And perhaps most encouraging of all, American artists, some of whom began producing long before the boom in the US, can now reap the rewards of their hard work. Justin Hawkes, Bensley and Kumarion serve as good examples, having formed a group under the notably apt name ‘Carry the Fire‘. On the very same night in June that Drum & Bass events took place in Bangkok, Lake Como and Bali, this trio played in Denver for their seventh event of their 21-date North America tour.

The global spread of Drum & Bass is clear for all to see. In 2024, the genre has touched all corners of the world and it ought to be no surprise. Even within the UK, we’ve seen the genre explode in popularity, bringing it into contact with mainstream culture. While it is impossible to predict such a volatile thing as popularity, particularly in the case of dance music, where trends come and go before anyone has time to notice, all the signs over the last few years are very encouraging. While Drum & Bass has emerged as a force capable of contending with the established favourites of House and Techno at home, the same can now, very much be said, around the world.

Jamezy emerges as a youthful and promising talent in the realm of Drum & Bass production and DJing, hailing from Swindon, UK. His journey commenced with crafting hip-hop and rap beats right from his bedroom at a tender age. However, it was his older brother who introduced him to the captivating world of Drum & Bass and Jungle music.

His distinctive melodic sound resonates seamlessly throughout his productions. What truly sets him apart is his skillful integration of diverse vocals, setting him in a league of his own among fellow producers in the scene. Jamezy made his debut set for DnB Allstars when he was just 18 years old, and since then, he has taken his music to international stages, including captivating audiences in places like Barcelona. His performances have graced renowned venues such as The Warehouse Project, Tobacco Dock, Studio 338, and Printworks. Notably, he has been a consistent presence during the DnB Allstars ‘Caged Tour,’ leaving his mark on seven of the shows. This upcoming summer, his schedule includes highly anticipated shows like DnB Allstars Festival (more info on that here!), Tomorrowland, and Bassfest.

Jamezy embarked on his record-signing journey with DnB Allstars at the mere age of 17. His EP garnered a remarkable milestone of over 1 million streams on Spotify, a testament to his growing production prowess. As the years have unfolded, his production artistry has continued to flourish, culminating in a staggering 3 million streams on Spotify in 2022 alone. The pinnacle of his releases this year was the captivating track ‘Mi Familia,’ notably endorsed by Radio One DJ Charlie Tee, and it has since amassed over 300,000 streams. Collaborating closely with esteemed MCs Grima x Azza and Devilman, Jamezy’s creation ‘World Cup Riddim’ showcases the breadth of his production range. Departing momentarily from his signature melodic style, he delves into a more vivacious and upbeat dimension of Drum & Bass.

Jamezy’s upcoming releases include ‘Tune’ with Eksman & J Mulla which is coming in September closely followed by an EP, both coming on DnB Allstars Records.

Don’t forget to check out DnB Allstars Festival where Jamezy will be playing. The festival is scheduled for 17th September at Gunnersbury Park, London. More info and tickets can be found here!

Now to add another string to his bow, Jamezy joins our Renegade Riddims series with a brand new exclusively curated mix. It features music from the likes of himself, Mozey, Rusko, Exile, Simula, Yanno, Upgrade, Skeptical, Hedex, Bruk, Disrupta and loads more!

Check out the mix below and download it for free here!

Q&A:

Jamezy art

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

Fresh, High Energy, Rolling Dnb. UK Grime/Drill Influenced, Exciting

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

I’d have to say my latest forthcoming single on DnB Allstars called “El Chapo” which is a collab with Eksman and J Mulla

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

The mix has a unique vibe to it using lots of my own production and tracks mixed with high energy drum and bass. This keeps the mix flowing and really defines the sound that you would hear in my live sets. It takes you on a journey of different unreleased tracks from myself to keep it fresh to the listener. This is also combined with music from some producers I’m really feeling at the moment.

Tell us about your next EP?

My next project is a very important and personal piece of work for me, this EP is a pivotal moment in the new sound I’ve been working on and pushing over the last year or so. This will be my 5th EP on DnB Allstars! It contains a mixture of vibes with lots of influences from various different genres but maintains a Jamezy vibe throughout each one. It’s also very special being able to collaborate with so many talented vocalists such as Eksman, J Mulla, Harry Shotta to name a few. The project contains two singles, one my most recent track “Hit The Floor” which was also released on DnB Allstars.

What have you got coming up?

Coming up for the rest of this year I have a lot of exciting shows but one I’m particularly looking forward to is the DnB Allstars festival in September. This should be a wicked festival as the lineup is merging the old-school with the new school which is a big yes from me! It’s also my last festival of the season so is definitely going to be an emotional one but also fun.

In addition to this there are some DnB Allstars 360° x 30hz shows which are going to be a lot of fun! Merging the popular 360 degrees intimate vibes with pumping sound systems supplied from different brands. The first one to be announced is the Bristol Propyard x DnB Allstars which is set to sell out and will have a massive vibe with 4000 ravers in an intimate setting. I’m also playing b2b with one of my favorite up and coming producers/DJS T-Lex who is absolutely killing it right now. This will be our first time going b2b so will have a proper unique vibe. Following up from this leading into club season I have a lot of exciting shows, one in October supporting Pendulum which I’m extremely gassed for to be on a lineup with them! Lots more still to be announced as well but all will be revealed!

When was the last time you actually raved?

The last time I raved was earlier this summer at Hospitality on the Beach. After I played my set, me and my best mate went down to the festival for a few extra days (a last minute decision to book new flights a couple weeks before) to then rave in the sun and enjoy it.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

My final message is to just say a massive thank you to all the promoters, DJs, my label DnB Allstars and to anyone who has supported my music or me at my shows and of course the ravers 🙂

Over the past six years, Printworks has hosted some of the world’s best electronic music talent. Their biggest season to date will be a celebration of the history of Printworks and a farewell to the venue for the last time in its current guise. With those big old doors threatening to close for the foreseeable future, we take a look at the Drum & Bass events that are yet to happen. Myself and one of our aspiring new artists Entropy have put our heads together, for a bit of a different feature. We have each chosen 5 acts that you should check out if you’re planning on attending any of the forthcoming events. I thought it would be interesting to see the difference between a young head’s recommendations and an old(er) head’s!

Shelley’s Picks

Natty Lou b2b D*Minds – Let It Roll

I couldn’t not include Natty Lou, she is one of our DTRadio residents and she has been absolutely destroying dancefloors over the last couple of years. She has her first release dropping on 10th Feb and her debut Printworks appearance on the same day…it’s written in the stars! D*Minds have been on the scene for many many years going back to the early 90s and are the brains behind RUN, a notorious brand with a great vision. Look out for a collab coming between Natty Lou and D*Minds, which I have on good authority they will be playing on Friday night!

Magnetude – Let It Roll

For those following my Soundcloud uploads, you will know by now that I am a big fan of Magnetude. These guys have really been through the mill recently and faced struggles most of us cannot even begin to fathom, but nothing has deterred them or slowed them down, they get their heads down and carry on producing some of the best music I’ve heard in recent years. Their high-energy sets have you working up a sweat in no time.

Randall – DNB Allstars

What can I say other than “Raaannddaaalll” (fantasise GQ’s voice)! Known to many as the DJs DJ Randall has been around since day dot and many (possibly most) artists have named him as one of their inspirations. Randall is definitely one of my favourites, you never know what tricks, wobblers and absolute gems he has in his arsenal. Every set I attend, at some point, I can guarantee that I will be blown away and have to take a moment to collect myself and unfuck my brain!

Gardna LIVE – Worried About Henry

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Gardna a couple of times now, once at Illusive festival 2021 and again at Mucky Weekender 2022 and both times I’ve had a complete blast. His sets are fun and engaging and you can tell he’s having the time of his life up on the stage which takes the whole experience to another level.

SOLAH & Emma B – Hospitality

SOLAH has carved a name for herself as one of the best vocalists in the D&B scene over the last few years. She has put her voice to some amazing records and put out her debut album in October 2022 to critical acclaim. Emma B is a rising DJ/artist who is really pushing the boundaries of D&B and fights for equality in the scene. These 2 ladies together are a force to be reckoned with and I think we are only scratching the surface of what they can accomplish.

Entropy’s Picks

Mandidextrous – Let It Roll

Mandidextrous has been a DJ since around 1998 and is pioneering a new sound in drum & bass, bringing an exciting new four-to-the-floor sound to the genre. I’m really looking forward to her set, it is always nice to have a change of flavour throughout the night.

Camo & Krooked b2b Mefjus – Let It Roll

Camo & Krooked with Mefjus have been playing and producing together for a while and launched a label together, MODUS, last year. Their combined production quality is unrivalled at the moment, producing my favourite song of 2022, ‘Break Away’. I last saw Camo & Krooked at RAM30 at Printworks, they were the highlight act of the event for me. My all-time favourite track of their collabs is 2020s ‘No Tomorrow’.

Kanine – Worried About Henry

Kanine has risen to new heights in recent years with a long career shaping ahead of him. Originally recognised as one of the leading names in the new wave of Drum & Bass producers, his sound is evolving all the time. The last time I saw Kanine live was at Detonate 2021. He was by far one of the highlight acts of the festival. His releases never disappoint with ‘The Weapon’ being one of my favourites from last year.

A.M.C – Hospitality

Future-driven but foundation-focused, A.M.C embodies the strongest and most critical traits a drum & bass artist can have: Attention to detail, technical articulation and patience. A.M.C is a 4 times best DJ winner at the Drum&BassArena Awards, 2019 -2022. His DJ sets are on another level when it comes to energy and are always a highlight of the night.

UNGLUED – Hospitality

Unglued is a great artist, known across the world for his remix of High Contrast ‘If We Ever’. He is well on his way to becoming drum & bass royalty with a remarkable back catalogue, as well as being known for his energetic DJ sets which blur the borders of BPMs with ruthless blends. He has a wide range of sound and is a strong influence for my own sound.

So there we have it. Who are you most looking forward to seeing smash up the dance?!

Welcoming us back into the world of festivals the one-day treat that is Electric Woodlands did not disappoint. With “11 hours of musical escapism” Bygrave Farm provided us with the space to freely dance and it felt so good!

Starting off with Sam-E and Rumour kicking off before lunchtime, you got a feel for the area, exploring the three different areas, taking in the bunting and lanterns hidden amongst the branches of the enchanting forest, with footpaths lined by trees and immersive stages in vast fields, leading you to the two stages, both standing proud and lit up. The Cru-Cast stage held a worldly aesthetic, floral decorations weeping down from the ceiling of the stage and bunting framing and joining the trees. The main stage where Mollie Collins was kicking things off, was the big boy of the festival, joined with its army of sound systems and light shows, it lived up to its electric name.

By 1 pm you could bounce between infamous DJ Hazard and Royal Hustle over on the Enchanted Forest stage – Foreverland‘s contribution to the party – and K Motionz B2B Turno Feat MC IC3, who stormed the Big Top Stage and really set a wicked energy for the day. The light show illuminated the stage, reining down colour beams onto the artists was a vision.

DJ Q B2B Jamie Duggan lead us to Flava D on The Clearing stage for some lunchtime tunes, and both sets were as lively as the other. You could taste the excitement of all the party-goers in the air and the energy was electric already. Harriet Jaxxon and Richy Ahmed‘s sets were both filled with high energy as you would expect from them and the excitement shared between both artists and audience could be clearly seen.

DnB Allstars wouldn’t be the DnB Allstars we know and love if we didn’t see the notorious Kings of the Rollers with Inja repping it on their stage, and we were in no way let down. Their signature sound blasted through the sound system, carrying the cries of the audience. With the décor and all the production, this set held an enigmatic tone for the rest of the day – and as more of the crowd entered, the festival had definitely begun!

Kanine featuring MC AD was as big and bad as you would hope, and moving from that into the intimate woodlands where Lewis Tala was delivering some extremely tasty treats for the forest creatures was an excellent display of the variety of music the festival was offering. At the same time, the sun started to get a bit lower and the space was filling up, Alcemist B2B Goddard took over from Kings of the Rollers and gave us a real good spout of drums and bass – as a personal fan of this young DJ It felt good to be able to see live performances artists we love again – long live the dance!

Zero lead us into the afternoon on The Clearing which was starting to irradiate with colours reflecting off the leaves above the stages, creating its own sky of seemingly psychedelic movements. As the colours of the uplighting started to get a bit brighter in the trees, the sky was getting closer to dusk which seemed to fit ideally with Darkzy and Window Kid’s exhilarating performance.

The one set I know I had been waiting all day to see and can no doubt speak for many as well is Chase & Status. With so many festivals cancelled I felt lucky to be out in the fields dancing and to see Chase & Status as well felt like a present. They sent out so many energetic and irresistible tunes, the whole set was one huge ball of dynamism. From big sounds to big flames it was the highlight of the evening and lured you into the night. Every tune sang through the speakers into our ears and it was fantastic to hear the familiar favourite and remixes, it was a big show on its own and the hour didn’t last long enough!

As it started getting darker, the forest was coming to life, with all the bunting reflecting the lights creating an ultraviolet tapestry within the trees. There was a different colour everywhere you looked, electric rainbows dancing alongside nature – it was an extraordinary vision. Alisha‘s sounds fitted this mystical and otherworldly vibe perfectly. Sammy Virji B2B Higgo played into the evening on The Big Top with Lazcru FT MC AD hosting another set over in The Clearing.

Bad Boy Chiller Crew switched it up for us on the main stage, and over in The Clearing Skepsis with MC AD doing a double shift on stage was at no lack of oomph! John Summit, another personal favourite on the other side of the spectrum of music was a perfect fit for the setting – with his summery festival made beats and charisma on stage he was genuinely so much fun to watch and dance to, perhaps getting up there with one of the best sets of the night!

Dimension (DJ set) wasn’t one to miss, playing all the signature drops and blends many had been craving over our dance deprived lockdown! Cajama was doing what they do best as they took over from Skepsis‘ set.

Closing the incredible event was Tsuki in The Clearing, who ended on such a high you could hear the cheers of the crowd from all around. Trying to soak in as much as we could, we bounced over to Detlef B2B Latmun who was treating us to a serving of some cosmic flavours. They both took us on a couple of space journeys through beats and bpms!

Lastly, but in no way or means least, the magical Hybrid Minds left us wanting more with such a euphoric set, I could feel smiles from a mile off and the vocal appreciation from the audience must have been overwhelming. It was magnificent to be a part of such a happy crowd! Leaving the woods felt a bit sad as festival season was coming to an end, but I was grateful to have had the experience and being able to dance away in woodlands and fields is all we could have asked for!

Thanks for the dance Electric Woodlands. Until next time…!

As Drum and Bass enters a more virtual landscape during these unprecedented times, the question of what could be done to support our healthcare system as a community arose. Pick ‘n’ Mix came up with an idea that wasn’t really revolutionary until they attracted the attention of some of the biggest names in the Drum & Bass scene.

For upcoming DJs and producers, the COVID-19 lockdown is the perfect time to hone their crafts. With all this free time, opportunities are being provided to learn, create, feel unique, shine, reach or surpass goals with higher standards, represent what you love and most importantly cure boredom!

The idea was simple, to create a raffle where individuals can buy tickets to potentially win prizes. “These are so common” I hear you say. However, it is the prizes on offer that make this one a little bit different from any other.

The raffle is being split into 2 categories, one for producers and the other for DJs and ravers. Some of the prizes already announced are: the chance to do a collab with Voltage, Low Down Deep merch, tickets to DNB Allstars and Bou events, 1 to 1 production session with Guzi and loads more!

All the money used to purchase these tickets will go directly to support our essential NHS staff in this crucial period via NHS Charities Together.

Purchase your tickets at thednbraffle.com, enter as many times as you like for only £2 each! The live stream begins on the Pick ‘n’ Mix Music Facebook page on May 22nd.

Brand manager of DnB Allstars, EJ Kitto has been making music for the last couple of years and has combined her thoughtfully profound lyrics with her love of Drum & Bass and Alternative R&B to create a sound that is truly unique and all her own.

“I wrote ‘Love Lang’ at a time when I didn’t feel respected after falling in love with a girl for the first time. Coincidentally , I was taught about the 5 Love Languages on a radio show that month and got straight on my piano, writing my thoughts and feelings, which then became ‘Love Lang’. After I started producing the track I pitched my idea to Zylo and we got to work.”

London based Producer/DJ, Zylo has taken the underground world by storm. He has been dominating the London underground drum & bass scene and building a strong and community of ravers. He’s really starting to push his way into the scene this year and has started to get recognised for the noise he’s been making. He made an appearance on Bloc2Bloc recently where you can see him grinning from ear to ear, this young DJ clearly has a love and passion for drum & bass.

We’ll be keeping on our eyes firmly on these two exciting new artists!

Zylo and EJ Kitto are self-releasing their track ‘Love Lang’ on 14th March and we premiere it today. It starts off with some melodic synths before EJ’s sublime vocals kick in and the rolling drums are introduced. At the first drop, the bassline takes the track to new levels.

They will be holding a release party at Barber ‘n’ Bass in London on 14th March, you can get tickets from here, but be warned this is an intimate venue holding 80 people so don’t sit on this!

Check out ‘Love Lang’ below and grab a copy from here

If you’ve been paying any attention to electronic music recently, you’ll have heard of the collective: DnB Allstars. Showcasing a dynamic record label with releases from artists like AC13 and Simula, DnB Allstars are now taking a slice of their sound and live shows up and down the country. With a lineup blending established artists and newcomers, DnB Allstars was set to bring something brand new to the Manchester Academy venue.

Recently finishing up his tour in North America UK artist Dimension was headlining. With club smashers like ‘Devotion’ and ‘Love to me’, he was the perfect pick for a DnB Allstars night. The acts following were Manchester’s very own home grown talent Indika and then finishing up was a hefty b2b with Sub Zero and T>I.

Held in Manchester Academy’s smaller venue, Academy 2 above the Manchester student’s union, it was both intimate yet spacious and felt reminiscent of an old school exam hall. With a wooden sticky floor, it was filled with a blend of students and outsiders, it was a friendly and energetic mix of ravers.

As we entered the venue we could feel the anticipation building for the headliner. With smiles all round and drinks flowing, the lights began to dim as Dimension set up his USB’s. Blending his signature style of dance floor and chart, Dimension delivered a showcase of contemporary Drum and Bass. Blending both released and unreleased music, it was a whirlwind of energy smattered with a dose of melodic turns and dark twisted corners; Dimension always brings the best set of the night.

Following Dimension was Manchester-based DJ Indika. Being one of the most celebrated in the Manchester scene for her effortless mixing, she tore through the audience blending her unique underground style with a myriad of unheard tunes. It was a true set for the underground and received rapturous roars from one drop to the next.

DnB Allstars delivered a smashing event. Booking both underground artists from Manchester alongside more established artists gave it a dynamic and exciting feel to discover new names and talent.

DnB Allstars have upcoming events in London (this weekend), Leicester, Cardiff, Bristol, Milton Keynes and Leeds! Information and tickets for these events can be found here
