On Saturday 19th December, master of the dance Pete Tong and Jules Buckley & The Heritage Orchestra unloaded into London’s empty O2 Arena to record the 5th edition of their annual sell-out show ‘Ibiza Classics’.

‘O Come All Ye Ravers’ was the first-ever global live stream event filmed from the floor of the iconic 20,000 capacity venue. It was also the first music to have been played in the space since it closed its doors in March.

2020, our whole year has been lost. No tours. No shows. No exceptions. We can’t be together in clubs or concert arenas BUT we can still put on a show for you. We’re going to perform from the floor of The O2 arena and broadcast it right into your homes. The rave will be back one day but for now, we are going to make the most of what we have. ” – Pete Tong

The global live stream aired on New Year’s Eve via LIVENow and was expertly crafted by two of London’s most exciting creative houses – Up The Game and Cassius Creative. They worked in unison to create a jaw-dropping visual and audio show. The spectacular visuals created reawakened Ibiza Classics for 2020 bringing the rave directly into our homes.

From the dreamy opener of De’Lacy ‘Hideaway’, to the show-stopping rendition of ‘Running’ sung by Jessie Ware herself, from the upbeat such as Basement Jaxx ‘Red Alert’, to the more downbeat Massive Attack ‘Unfinished Sympathy’, a full range of classics were given a fresh revamp. Myself and my partner were certainly having a good ol’ time stomping around our flat as I’m sure everyone else was from around the globe.

Let’s be frank, you can’t replace a night out by staying indoors, and an online audience is not the same as a live audience, but this was as close as anyone was going to get over the Christmas period, and they did an absolutely bang-up job. Hats off and let’s hope things start getting back to normal in 2021 so we can all dance together soon!
