Special Feature: Halflight

When he can prize himself away from his Xbox controller, Bristol-based producer Dan Wilberforce, aka Halflight, sits in a dark room pressing buttons and twiddling knobs for hours on end creating bleeps, bloops and squelchy bass noises.

As one half of the former electronic music act Cutline, Halflight wrote bonafide dancefloor killers ‘Runnin’, ‘Let It Go’ and ‘Die For You’. They also remixed some of the hottest records around, including Rudimental’s UK #1 ‘Feel The Love’. The duo also racked up nearly 10,000,000 YouTube views and played shows from the Isle of Wight Festival to full tours across Europe, Canada and Australia, including some of the world’s most renowned clubs, Fabric, BCM and Paradiso.

Since going solo as Halflight, Dan has had numerous releases music on DnB powerhouse Viper Recordings and the mighty UKF! He has remixed The Jungle Brothers, Zeds Dead and Diplo & Sleepy Tom‘s ‘Be Right There’, which featured on Danny Howard’s BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems.

His release ‘Lean’ which dropped on Viper Recordings, was René LaVice‘s rinse out tune of the week on his BBC Radio 1 show. This paved the way for Halflight’s release ‘Out Of Love’ on René’s own DeVice imprint, last summer.

Now he’s returned to Device with two takes on his new release ‘All I Need’. Halflight’s original of ‘All I Need’ boasts ethereal and breathtaking soundscapes intertwined with stunning piano sequences whilst his DJ exclusive VIP mix is contrastingly weightier, weaving explosive breakdowns, gritty bass and jungle drum patterns. Described as “Drum & Bass so pretty, even your mum will like it,” Halflight has delivered something for everyone.

To coincide with this release, Halflight joins us with a special mix full of absolute weapons. High energy from start to finish, this mix will get your weekend flying!!
