Tamango Records frontman Yaya gets set for his debut on wAFF’s NATURE imprint with a groove-heavy ‘Me Gusta’ EP

NATURE continues its incredible streak of releases with its latest signing: Yaya, the mastermind behind Tamango Records. Known for infusing his African roots with Italian flair, Yaya makes his debut on wAFF’s label with a five-track EP, ‘Me Gusta’, dropping October 11th, 2024. Following recent releases from names like Funk Cartel, Alessandro Diruggiero, Tomi&Kesh, and Italobros, NATURE once again delivers top-notch, groove-laden sounds for the dancefloor.

Leading the EP is the title track, ‘Me Gusta’, featuring chunky drums, swinging analogue bass, catchy vocal chops, and quirky sample shots, making it a standout opener. Up next, ‘Logic Routine’ lays down punchy beats and jacking percussive flair, layered with spaced-out melodic accents and analogue low-end warmth. The energy builds further with ‘Maximo Delicioso’, an eerie, bouncy cut centered on a groovy bassline that highlights Yaya’s knack for rippling musicality.

Rounding off the release are ‘Blocked’, a vibrant, minimal roller packed with funky textures and intricate sound design, and ‘Step Mode’, a percussion-driven finale with a funky bassline that shows off Yaya’s expert craftsmanship in creating energy-packed grooves.

Raised in Turin with musical influences from his father’s African ensemble, M’bamina, Yaya has built a reputation as a rhythm-centric artist with global appeal. Since joining Desolat in 2009, he’s captivated audiences worldwide with his unique, genre-blending sound and launched Tamango Records in 2016, featuring talents like Loco Dice, Enzo Siragusa, and Cuartero.

Yaya’s ‘Me Gusta’ EP arrives on NATURE on October 11th, 2024. Pre-order or save it now to experience his newest, groove-heavy journey.
