XTC-[Notts] leaves us with ‘Do Not Approach’ EP

Locked Up Music is extremely proud to release the debut EP from a true veteran of the scene: XTC-[Notts]. This four track EP is outstanding and encompasses what they represent at the label; hard-hitting beats, soulful pads and deep subs with a nod to the past.

The title track ‘Do Not Approach’ is deep and dark with clever switches and fx to keep your attention right to the end. ‘Grave Robbers From Outer Space’ is set to be a modern jungle classic and is our premiere today. ‘Electric Fence’ explores XTC-[Notts] more experimental side, but still able to keep a crowd moving. Finally, ‘The Gap’ is all about the funk with wobbly bass and Reese stabs to ensure devastation in the club.
Adam Loke aka XTC-[Notts] started mixing in 1989 and went on to DJ and produce on the UK Rave, Jungle, Ragga Jungle and D’n’B scene’s 1992 through to 1997 playing for the likes of Amnesia House, Total Kaos, Jungle Rock, Bushdoctor, Amazon & many more.
He was lucky enough to produce/remix and co-produce tracks for the likes of Barrington Levy and Chakka Demus & Pliers for Greensleeves records and various other labels.
He took some time off to raise a family and construct a brand new production studio before reintegrating himself back in the modern D&B scene with a vengeance. He also found time to launch the stellar, genre-bending Instinct Audio imprint alongside fellow producer Impact in 2011.
It is with deep regret that XTC-[Notts] passed away last week, so this release has even more meaning to it than ever. He worked hard on creating this EP and we hope that you love it as much as we do. All Bandcamp sales will be donated to charities chosen by his family. We hope the D&B community comes together once more and does him proud.
We send our condolences to Adam’s family and hope we can do our part in honouring a true soldier.
We salute you Adam and thank you for your music and dedication to the scene.
