Krystal Roxx, DJ S.K.T and Happy Cat Jay team up on the nineties inspired house jam ‘I Don’t Need A Drug’ out 29th October via Ultra Music
Ultra Music, purveyors of upfront, metronomic electronic music have come up with the goods once again with ‘I Don’t Need A Drug’. A hypnotic, nineties inspired bouncing baseline house tracks brought to you by a trio of soaring London DJs and producers; Krystal Roxx, DJ S.K.T and Happy Jay Cat. It’s a match made in heaven, with each laying down their own inimitable style on the production and vocal delivery.
Having recently supported Carl Cox and a live set at Boardmasters 2021, Krystal Roxx’s DJ career has also seen her perform worldwide for major recording artists, record labels, renowned club nights and festivals, while she has supported the likes of Fatboy Slim, Anne Marie, Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada and Karen Harding.
Krystal says: “I love indie-dance and sober raving so when I heard JP’s vocal I melted! I played S.K.T out a lot in my sets so it was a dream to fuse his sonic sounds to make this electronic riot record!“
Roxx’s clubbing brand Superfoxx has been firing on all cylinders since its inception in 2016. The exclusively female-led brand strives to support conscious clubbing with the Superfoxx residency at Ibiza Rocks Hotel alongside Craig David’s TS5, Jax Jones’ Snacks and MK’s Area 51. Krystal curated Radio1 DJs and emerging talent with Olympic athletes, fitness influencers and even a Spice Girl, merging music and sport with partners JD Sports. Hosting their weekly podcast on the JDX Platform, interviewing recording Artists and Sport Personalities to 300k weekly listeners; alongside a live Friday night show on Soho Radio. Support from BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM UK and over 4 million combined streams see’s Roxx has firmly established herself as an advocate for women in music and one to watch.
Leading UK producer, and Kiss FM resident, DJ S.K.T has been carving a steady path to success since his scene defining House anthem “Take Me Away” – an Official UK Charts Top 20 in 2014, which has received silver certification for 200,000 sales. 2018 saw the release of DJ S.K.T’s first compilation album, the x3CD Pure Tech House, which featured four of his own tracks, and hit No.1 on the iTunes Dance chart.
After climbing his way up to the Beatport No.1 spot on with ‘Ballers’ in 2019. S.K.T teamed up with Jim Cooke on ‘Boomerang’ in 2020, which was Radio 1 ‘Tune of The Week’ and added to Kiss FM playlist. S.K.T regularly headlines top UK venues such as Ministry of Sound, and he’s a permanent fixture on the festival scene, such as his recent appearance at Creamfields, alongside big international shows at Ibiza Rocks, Amnesia, and Eden.
Influenced by jazz, funk, speed garage and everything in-between, Happy Cat Jay has got to be one of London’s most exciting and interesting producers. A multi-talented musician whose tracks blend both analogue and digital recordings, his acclaimed 2020 ‘Moods’ EP was signed to the iconic Fat! Records.
Summer of 2021 witnessed a brand new release, ‘Money’. It’s a groovy, understated dance track with more outrageous production and enough colourful sub-bass to wave a stick at. Happy Cat Jay continues to shine as he opens his personality up further and starts to bring other musicians and creatives into his playful fold.
