Novembers Deep Tech Los Angeles Show landed on Data Transmission Radio last weekend highlighting the label and label boss’s Redux Saints current releases.

Jason Trevor Miller aka Redux Saints, label boss of Deep Tech Los Angeles Records has become a consistent charting producer over the past few years.  One of his favourite methods to express himself musically is through his monthly Data Transmission Radio Show called the “Deep Tech Los Angeles Show.

We sat down with Jason to discuss this month’s mix as he gave some insight into his current and upcoming releases, label’s new releases, and a new bootleg of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”.

David Bowie – Let’s Dance (Redux Saints Remix) [Bootleg]

“Working out in the gym in the morning, I hear tons of 80’s music on their video channel.  When those nostalgic tunes come on, they remind me of my early childhood.  I’m always thinking to myself – could I fit this vocal over a groove.  Would this hook work?  More than often, I find myself running back home to see if I can fit it into a track.”

Eduke, Redux Saints – Here For You [Deep Tech Los Angeles]

“I teamed up with Eduke for a recent collab and through the passing the musical idea of the we agreed to go funky like Parliament’s “Flashlight” bassline. Currently, “Here For You” is getting some massive radio and DJ support and charting quite well on Beatport.

DON’T BLINK, Redux Saints – Can You Relate [The Myth Of NYX]

“Probably my biggest release to date is teaming up with DONT BLINK on a collab called “Can You Relate”.  Stooked to have the opportunity to work together with DONT BLINK as everything they touch turns to gold.”

New Releases on Deep Tech Los Angeles Records

Angel Heredia – Sex Machine [Deep Tech Los Angeles]

Jason says “Angel Heredia drop his debut on Deep Tech Los Angeles Records called “Sex Paradise” and Matt Caseli returns with his second single called “Guidance”.  I know both tracks are going to be received very well.”

Redux Saints aka Jason Trevor Miller is best known for his contemporary tech house vibes, full flavour basslines and trademark ‘thicc beats’. An accomplished DJ and producer, as well as label head and A&R of Deep Tech Los Angeles Records, Redux Saints is a man on a mission to bring quality underground house and techno to the masses.

Redux Saints returns on Data Transmission Radio on Saturday Night at 8pm for his monthly Deep Tech Los Angeles Radio Show, we asked him to tell us about the Sounds that Shaped him as an artist.

He says “Music has been a large part of my life ever since I can remember. I started to attend raves and house clubs in mid to late 90’s and developed my deep love for electronic music listening to Sasha and Digweed’s Northern Exposures along with Paul Oakenfold’s ‘Tranceport’.”

“Living in Chicago I was also exposed to lots of house music, which had a major influence on what I look for in vocals from artists such as Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter, and others.”

“I took some time off to start a software company around 2008 and after a four-year hiatus I knew that I needed music back in my life for balance and decided to deep dive into DJ’ing and then music production. Back then I was big into Maceo Plex, Claptone, and others. “

When I first started producing in 2016, I attempted to combine melodic elements with tech-house grooves, but I took a different direction after attending Toolroom Academy and went with my love for strong, soulful vocals on top of stripped back tech-house grooves.  To feed my need for melodics I created another moniker ‘Placebo eFx’ which brings in my first love of trance.

‘Voicemail’ – Green Velvet, Patrick Topping

I remember hearing this for the first time live at BPM festival (2014) as every DJ was playing it in their sets.  It inspired me to look outside of the genres I was listening to at that time.

‘So What’Cha Want’ – Beastie Boys

My production is full of detail and you hear a lot of hip samples/elements as vocal hits/glitches.  Specifically, a recent production “You Can’t Front” was inspired by one of my favourite Beastie Boys tracks ‘So What’Cha Want’.

‘Greece 2000’ – Three Drives

Besides the Ministry of Sound Annual, the first album I had on repeat was Paul Oakenfold’s ‘Tranceport’.  I recall coming home after the clubs in Chicago, time and time again, inserting this CD, pressing play and relaxing.  Lots of my early Redux Saints and my techno moniker Placebo eFx have influences of the melodics from ‘Greece 2000’.

‘Open Your Eyes’ – D. Ramirez

The first track I really enjoyed from Toolroom Records was D. Ramirez’s ‘Open Your Eyes’.  It had all the elements that made a great track – strong groove, melodic and vocal hooks – and I was blown away to find out he actually did the vocals himself on the track in his Toolroom Academy course.  I try to incorporate that into all the tracks I release.

‘Sex Machine’ – James Brown

Everything about this track is iconic: bass guitar, piano, vocals, brass instruments. I’m honoured to have an official remix coming out that reinvents a house version for new generations to enjoy.

Deep Tech Lockdown Sessions Vol.3 by various artists, compiled by Redux Saints is out now on DTLA Records https://hypeddit.com/link/nzvt08

Jason formed Redux Saints in late 2015 after moving to Los Angeles. An alumni of the Icon Collective Music Production School, and the first US graduate from the intensive Toolroom Academy Masterclass program, his music has been resonating with fans and industry alike, ever since.

Redux Saints’ profile continues to grow amongst the tech-house cognoscenti, exemplified by signings to labels like Toolroom, LOW CEILING, Stealth, CR2, Incorrect Music, HoTL and Hood Politics. These releases have seen Redux Saints gain increasing support from house mainstays such as Pete Tong and Fatboy Slim to tech-house pioneers Mark Knight and Gorgon City, to big room techno heavyweights, Carl Cox and Anja Schneider.

It’s safe to say that Redux Saints made serious moves in 2020. He released no less than 10 original tracks, three of which found themselves in the #1 spot of Beatport’s New Hype releases including ‘To My Beat’, ‘Stay Home!’ (both released on Deep Tech Los Angeles Records) and his remix of ‘Give Me A Reason’ by Placebo eFx (his melodic techno alias). His fine run of form saw him honoured with a Beatport ‘On Our Radar’ accolade and a Toolroom Radio ‘Toolroom Academy Track Of The Week’ for the release of ‘That’s Right’. 2020 ended with Redux Saints breaking the Top 100 Tech House Artist chart where he sits alongside some of the world’s most innovative artists.

2021 will see Redux Saints maintain his unstoppable work ethic and take things up a notch with his label’s output of both new and established talent. Regularly dropping mixes for his popular Deep Tech Los Angeles radio show on our Data Transmission Radio, producing more original music, and giving back knowledge to aspiring artists, it seems certain that more heads are set to tune into the consistent talent of Redux Saints.

Today, he joins on the podcast for the first time to help us celebrate our 13th Birthday today! Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Redux Saints surges into the New Year with his latest contribution to Krafted Underground. Boundaries EP encapsulate a diverse offering of progressive atmospheres, elements and melodies.

Our Debut Transmission comes in the form of D. Ramirez’s remix of Zetta, which serves up a memorizing bass line that target the tech house floors with two interpretations that won’t disappoint. MINTZ ‘s remix of Virus CDEF serves the darker floors with it’s minimal rendition. Rounding up the package, Made By Pete’s remix of Boundaries delivers the sunset imagery with piano chords over an infection house groove.

Krafted emerged on the scene in 2014 and boast over 500 releases across the label group from artists including: Doorly, D-Formation, Dave Seaman, Nick Muir, Colin Dale, Moonface, Terry Farley, Graham Gold, Robbie Rivera, and many more, the label has established an exciting and diverse catalogue.

REDUX SAINTS LOGO_ BLACK

Redux Saints are a DJ/Production duo based out of L.A. that consists of Chicago native, Jason Miller, and Jourdan Bordes, who is from Mississippi. The duo joined forces in the summer of 2015 after meeting through a mutual friend and artist from Austin Texas named, Jon E Bravo. Shortly after meeting a spark of creativity ignited in the studio and The Redux Saints were born.

Their debut release ‘Rebirth’ on the EJ Underground imprint comes complete with a superb remix from DOORLY.   The Original cracks the whip when it comes to deep and subby bass, it has a crisp groove and hooky.   Our premiere today is the remix from Doorly and he keeps it strictly main room on his remix. Deftly taking the track deep onto the dance floor. Hypnotic & uplifting he skillfully picks out the key elements, expertly lifting proceedings and perfectly elevating the vibe.

Redux Saints ‘Rebirth’ Parts 1 including the brilliant Doorly Remix will be released 10th May 2016.
