International Women’s Day is a day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the globe. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality. A huge amount of activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.
Each year on March 8th, International Women’s Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year for people to:
- celebrate women’s achievements
- raise awareness about women’s equality
- campaign for gender equality
- fundraise for female-focused charities
The first IWD gathering was held in 1911 and the day belongs to all women everywhere!
To celebrate IWD 2021 we are taking over the airwaves on DT Radio with some fine selectors and top DJs! Kicking off at 9am (GMT) and going right through to midnight with a load of exclusive mixes and a couple of re-runs of some of our favourite recent mixes by women.
We will be bringing you House Music and Tech House from Lex On the Decks, Bryony, AmyElle and Carly Wilford. Then we will be switching it up with some Jungle and Drum & Bass with Ama, Lubi J, Liohness, Kira, Arietta, Ghost Hardware, Iris and Euphonique. After that, we bring you some banging Techno from D-Vox (with live vocals), Lilly Palmer and Fatima Hajji!
