NUDE047: Aida Arko

Share

Aida Arko is an Avant-garde electronic music Producer and DJ based in Vienna, specializing in Techno. Having grown up in Iran in the 1990s, Aida was influenced by the Persian underground scene, the wealth of cultural and musical heritage of her home country.  As a former biology student, she left the academic world to pursue her real passion, performing and music.

This summer, her debut Ep “Story Of My Maker” got released on Phunk Trax, shortly followed by a solo track “Electrain” on Gain Records. In the autumn, she expanded her passion for Techno by starting her own record label named System A with its premiere release “Accelerate” EP. She finishes the year with a single release called “Renaissance” for NRG compilation on Suara Records, which we premiere today. So expect to hear a lot more in the near future from this young and promising Vienna based artist.

We premiered Aida’s ‘Renaissance’ on our NUDE Techno channel! Today, she joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Proper Techno for your hearing pleasure, music speaks for itself.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
“HRD.303 – Fuck My Strings (Original Mix)” is definitely a stand out for me, it is not a classic banger but rather some brutal vocals sliding on those huge baselines and broken beats are delivering.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
A This mix is showcasing my release “Renaissance” from the latest Suara compilation NRG, the mix also contains some other tracks of this powerful compilation as well. Also some new techno bangers from the “Accelerate” Ep, the premiere release on my label “System A Recordings”.As well as some of my favourite tunes and some unreleased track of mine to give it a bit of an extra. I hope you enjoy it.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
Considering the year we had at 2020 with covid-19 restrictions, very few gigs actually happened but the highlight of this year was definitely a stream I did at the Hall of Mirrors within the Schloss Schönbrunn  Palace in my home town Vienna, Austria. In 1781 Mozart played the last concert since then no musician ever played music in this legendary hall until the day of this recording, so I am pretty honoured, the set is available on my youtube.

What have you got coming up?
In terms of music, I have been working tirelessly at the studio so a lot of fresh tunes about which you will be hearing soon. Also working on loads of creative materials and exiting concepts on my Label “System A Recordings”.Hopefully, in a pandemic free future, we will come back stronger with more Label nights and get back to touring.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Stay kind and positive guys and remember there is a sound that feels like love.See you all somewhere soon.Cheers

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
