Ruffneck Ting‘s main boss, Dazee, teams up with resident artist Jenni Groves for her debut release, dropping ‘Watch The Bass’ a banging three-track EP on the iconic Bristol imprint. With label veteran Jinx on remix duty, this EP serves up a tasty blend of upbeat Jungle and Jump Up vibes that Ruffneck Ting is known for.
Dazee’s signature style, filled with sample-based motifs, heavy basslines, and infectious rhythms, has been rocking stages and airwaves worldwide for three decades. With her “jungle campaign” still going strong, she’s kicking off 2024 with a flurry of releases, including the much-lauded ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ LP collab with Euphonique.
Jenni Groves, hailed as the queen of the double drop, brings her high-energy spin to the label’s sound. Hailing from Gloucester, she’s not only been repping Ruffneck Ting at festivals like Glastonbury, Hospitality on the Beach, and Volksfest but also launching her own event, Twisted-Tempo, to showcase new talent of all ages. Keep an eye out for her own productions hitting the scene soon!
Jinx, a pioneer in the upfront Jungle and Drum & Bass scene, brings his trademark warm basslines and lively beats to Ruffneck Ting, infusing a Birmingham/Bristol fusion into the mix for over a decade.
‘Watch The Bass’ kicks off with quirky horns and dub-infused keys, setting the vibe with vocal samples. When the beat drops, you’re hit with heavy basslines and classic breaks, keeping the dancefloor moving and grooving.
‘Happiness’ starts off with emotional strings before hitting hard with warm, wobbly basslines and relentless beats. Whether you’re feeling the melancholy or the uplifting elements, the infectious bass patterns and gated amens will have you lost in the music.
‘Charging (Jinx remix)’ kicks off with nostalgic rave stabs and classic “hoover” sounds, twisting and teasing through crisp breaks and massive basslines that are sure to get the crowd going every time.
‘Watch The Bass’ serves as the second single from Ruffneck Ting’s third XLJ series album, celebrating the label’s 30-year legacy in the world of Jungle and Drum & Bass.
