MEL is a three times Drum & Bass Arena award nominee and the first-ever female to break into the best producer category! She cut into the scene as a producer with her debut track ‘Protagonist’ on UKF last year. Which received amazing feedback and destroyed dancefloors across the world.

MEL has honed her craft and skills by performing everywhere from dingy underground venues to prestigious festival stages. Combining firing selection with a silky technique she has caught the attention of Ram Records and Rampage to name a few.

Her blend of experience, work ethic and sheer talent guarantees she has many more achievements to come. So far, we’ve only witnessed the prologue to her story. The next chapter is going to be unmissable.

MEL has been a resident on DT Radio for some time now and every month she delivers outstanding mixes for her show, which airs on the 4th Friday of each month, and has had some unbelievable guests join her over the the last couple of years. I can’t believe we haven’t had her on our Renegade Riddims series…until now!

With an exclusive mix for IWD2022 and Renegade Riddims, MEL has upped her game again and has worked incredibly hard to record a mix that she says she is really proud of. Aren’t we lucky to have such an amazing woman on our team? This mix was left quite last minute but in true MEL style, she has SMASHED it!! With tracks from herself, The Prototypes, Junk Mail, Black Sun Empire & State of Mind, Noisia, Calyx & Teebee, RAM Trilogy, S9, Mikal, The Upbeats and a load more this mix is not for the faint-hearted and will have you tearing up your kitchen!

What have you got coming up?

I can’t announce too much yet show-wise but I am really looking forward to festival season and I’ve got a guest slot on a huge radio station, coming up in the next month. I can’t wait!

The Ministry of Breaks Radio Show has come to Data Transmission Radio!

According to the rule of 10,000, it takes approximately 10,000 hours of practice to truly become an expert at something and master one’s trade. However, for Blaze DJ, 10,000 hours was but a mere apprenticeship. The London based DJ has put so many hours in, that he has come to develop an almost telepathic connection to the decks, the music he plays and the people who listen.

A genuine member of the Acid House generation, Blaze DJ considers himself to be “one of the lucky ones” to have witnessed the growth of the UK’s electronic music scene from its beginnings to the present day. Yet, he manages to bring the same enthusiasm and energy to his sets now, thirty years later, as he did while playing the epic parties of the early 90s.

For Blaze DJ, it is and always has been all about the break. Influenced by many artists from the early days right through to today, he has managed to take all his inspiration and influences and weave them into the tapestry that is his own unique sound. Think 70’s NYC, meets 90 Rave with a hint of 00’s Dubstep breaks, a touch of acid and a tabasco hit of 80’s pop and you’ll start to get an understanding of Blaze DJ’s style.

Now under his brand Ministry of Breaks, Blaze DJ hosts a mix series of the best breakbeat inspired music from around the globe with exclusive releases from leading Breaks labels including Nipponeer Records, Lizplay Records, One 7 Audio, Elektroshok Records, Distorsion, 13 Monkeys and Ravesta Records. Other highlights in this series are random eclectic live remixes, which on paper shouldn’t work, but surprisingly masterfully blended as if they were released that way.

So, calling the Old Skool for the 21st Century and take a break from the norm.

You can listen to the shows on Data Transmission Radio on the 4th Week of the month on a Thursday at 1am (UK), listen back to this weeks show below!

On Thursday night at 9pm, EDGE continues their weekly residency on Data Transmission Radio by welcoming tech house producer Siege.

From its trail-blazing 90s rave-days to giving birth to the world-conquering Tomorrowland, Belgium has long punched above its modest size in the world of electronic music. Now rising star Siege, whose techy take on house has graced labels from Toolroom and Saved records to Yousef’s Circus, Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave and Adam Beyer’s Truesoul can add his name to the influential acts that Belgium has gifted the world.

Raised in Hasselt, outside of Belgium’s best-known clubbing centres, Siege is a beacon for the power of focus and self-determination. Buying his first vinyl turntables before he was old enough to go to a club, instead, he listened to mixes on the internet, using this knowledge to buy the hottest records of the moment. It was after playing his first major gigs just a year or two later, however, that he realised he wanted to similarly inspire others by producing his own tracks. Self-taught by his own dedication and the help of Future Music Magazine, when his first-ever remix stopped just shy of the Beatport House Top Ten his reputation was assured.

EDGE says about the show ‘Siege has exclusively held back on Podcasts etc. and is using the Edge Present show to debut ALL his latest releases on Data Transmission’

For all those party people dreaming of new dancefloor adventures in paradise locations, tune into the brand new DT Radio residency from The Yacht Week. Kicking off this Friday, each month one of The Yacht Week resident DJs will take you on a musical journey reflecting a different aspect of these incredible travel and music experiences.

The Yacht Week is the original floating festival and brings together adventurous young travellers from around the world to join a flotilla of yachts, sailing to amazing places (Croatia, Greece, Sardinia, Montenegro, Tahiti, The Bahamas, Martinique & St Lucia) to enjoy a mix of exploration, activities, wellness and fun, and of course – parties! For those who love their music, clubs and DJs, the Croatia Routes have got the lot. You can even join the Ultra Festival or Hideout Festival Routes, enjoying all the music and entertainment of these world-beating dance music festivals, while also sailing the Croatian coastline for the adventure of a lifetime.

The Yacht Week in Croatia features a different party every night with some big names guaranteed. This year you can catch Wankelmut and Weiss, alongside the dedicated party starters, The Yacht Week resident DJs. There’s the unique circle raft party, where the yachts join together in a circle out at sea and party with tunes coming from headline DJs playing aboard the Buzz Boat – a floating DJ booth kitted out with VOID Acoustic soundsystem!

On the Croatia Hideout Festival Route, the circle raft will be set in the stunning beach cove at Zrce Beach, just behind the festival main stage! There’s also the stylish Riviera Chic party at the infamous Carpe Diem bar in Hvar, or perhaps the Island Pool Party at Olife Beach Club. New for 2021 is Dockside Disco and this is the focus for the debut DT Radio show.

Dockside Disco is a brand new concept for this year’s The Yacht Week and promises to deliver sparkles, sequins and glitter balls galore as the stunning, 200-year-old Fort George in Croatia turns into the dancefloor for the night. Those guests joining The Yacht Week Greece Route can also enjoy the Dockside Disco, as Ostria nightclub channels the classic Studio 54 vibes.

Stepping up to the decks to kick things off is the suitably named Frisky Disco, a.k.a. Tom Morrey – also responsible for entertainment on The Yacht Week, which means he can be relied upon to deliver a very special mix. This one hour mix kicks off with some old school disco vibes before pushing the energy up with some quality disco house – the ideal soundtrack to hit the dancefloor as the sun goes down in paradise.

If you’re inspired by the music and want to make this summer count, then head on over to The Yacht Week and book a yacht for you and your mates to join the fun.

Catch The Yacht Week Show once a month on the 3rd Friday of the Monday at 8pm (UK).

Redux Saints aka Jason Trevor Miller is best known for his contemporary tech house vibes, full flavour basslines and trademark ‘thicc beats’. An accomplished DJ and producer, as well as label head and A&R of Deep Tech Los Angeles Records, Redux Saints is a man on a mission to bring quality underground house and techno to the masses.

Redux Saints returns on Data Transmission Radio on Saturday Night at 8pm for his monthly Deep Tech Los Angeles Radio Show, we asked him to tell us about the Sounds that Shaped him as an artist.

He says “Music has been a large part of my life ever since I can remember. I started to attend raves and house clubs in mid to late 90’s and developed my deep love for electronic music listening to Sasha and Digweed’s Northern Exposures along with Paul Oakenfold’s ‘Tranceport’.”

“Living in Chicago I was also exposed to lots of house music, which had a major influence on what I look for in vocals from artists such as Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter, and others.”

“I took some time off to start a software company around 2008 and after a four-year hiatus I knew that I needed music back in my life for balance and decided to deep dive into DJ’ing and then music production. Back then I was big into Maceo Plex, Claptone, and others. “

When I first started producing in 2016, I attempted to combine melodic elements with tech-house grooves, but I took a different direction after attending Toolroom Academy and went with my love for strong, soulful vocals on top of stripped back tech-house grooves.  To feed my need for melodics I created another moniker ‘Placebo eFx’ which brings in my first love of trance.

‘Voicemail’ – Green Velvet, Patrick Topping

I remember hearing this for the first time live at BPM festival (2014) as every DJ was playing it in their sets.  It inspired me to look outside of the genres I was listening to at that time.

‘So What’Cha Want’ – Beastie Boys

My production is full of detail and you hear a lot of hip samples/elements as vocal hits/glitches.  Specifically, a recent production “You Can’t Front” was inspired by one of my favourite Beastie Boys tracks ‘So What’Cha Want’.

‘Greece 2000’ – Three Drives

Besides the Ministry of Sound Annual, the first album I had on repeat was Paul Oakenfold’s ‘Tranceport’.  I recall coming home after the clubs in Chicago, time and time again, inserting this CD, pressing play and relaxing.  Lots of my early Redux Saints and my techno moniker Placebo eFx have influences of the melodics from ‘Greece 2000’.

‘Open Your Eyes’ – D. Ramirez

The first track I really enjoyed from Toolroom Records was D. Ramirez’s ‘Open Your Eyes’.  It had all the elements that made a great track – strong groove, melodic and vocal hooks – and I was blown away to find out he actually did the vocals himself on the track in his Toolroom Academy course.  I try to incorporate that into all the tracks I release.

‘Sex Machine’ – James Brown

Everything about this track is iconic: bass guitar, piano, vocals, brass instruments. I’m honoured to have an official remix coming out that reinvents a house version for new generations to enjoy.

Deep Tech Lockdown Sessions Vol.3 by various artists, compiled by Redux Saints is out now on DTLA Records https://hypeddit.com/link/nzvt08

Austrian artist Elian Dust makes his debut on Moonboutique Records this March featuring two uplifting house originals entitled ‘Into The Room’.

Our Data Transmission Radio Resident Elian Dust is leaving a strong imprint on the dance music world at the moment. He’s had releases on Toolroom Trax, Under Pressure and Huambo Records, which have received support from Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 show.

The Austrian producer now joins German record label Moonbootique run by Tobitob & KoweSix, better known as Moonbootica, joining a family of artists, including Ante Perry, Julian Wassermann, Tagteam Terror, The Synchronizers, Curry & Krawall and many more.

Title track ‘Into The Room’ proceeds with raw, skippy drums, choppy vocals and reverberating bass grooves, creating an upfront, infectious energy. Up next, ‘Body Language’ wonderfully fuses finely-tuned, rolling snares, evolving pads and rave-inspired aesthetics with undulating effervescence.

Elian’s ‘Into The Room’ drops on Moonbootique Records on 12th March 2021 and we premiere ‘Body Language’ for you today on Data Transmission, check it out here and grab it on Beatport.

We are excited to announce that today we launch our Brand NEW DNB Night on Data Transmission Radio! On the last Friday of the month, we will bring a huge rave-up to the airwaves! It all kicks off at 6 pm with 12 hours of Jungle Drum & Bass music.

To lead the charge, we are over the moon to bring a BIG Exclusive to DT Radio as each month we welcome the legendary Dub Pistols with their brand new show ‘Into the Jungle’! This month they’re joined by special guests Deekline and Isaac Maya!

Over an 18-year career, the Dub Pistols have worked with heroes like The Specials, Busta Rhymes, Horace Andy, Madness and Gregory Isaacs. Sometimes you have to go through the mill to realise why you were put on this Earth. So it is with the Dub Pistols, the reggae-breaks-jungle mashup, the gangster-swaggering festival stalwarts whose rollercoaster story reads like a rock’n’roll cautionary tale on a grand scale.

When big beat ruled the clubs the Pistols were snapped up for $1.5m by legendary Interscope magnate Jimmy Iovine and anointed Geffen Records’ priority act for America. But Geffen put their album out the week that 9/11 happened, so the Dub Pistols ended up broke and label-less instead of US superstars. This is how it happens. They get knocked down — but they get back up.

Next up after dub pistols, superstar residents FuZion and Evolve from Hierarchy Audio bring their monthly two hour Drum & Bass show, with vibes ranging from the light to the dark, from the old to the new and far beyond. Hierarchy Audio is a record label with a strong focus on Drum & Bass. With the aggressive, menacing and dark bass lines, captivating atmospherics and high impact drums being the order of the day… well, you can guess the rest.

The whole evening kicks off at 6pm with Data Transmissions first lady of drum and bass, Mel. She has gone from strength to strength Djing alongside the likes of Chase & Status, Wilkinson and Camo & Krooked to name a few. She has also become a staple in RAM Records live stream sets with her high energy 3 deck mixing. It’s easy to see why she is becoming one of the genre’s rising stars. Over lockdown, Mel has been taking the time to perfect her productions, which lead her to be in the top 5 for the EQ50 mentorship this year.
