NUDE142: SORT SIND

Directly translated as ‘Dark Mind’, SORT SIND is the new moniker of established Danish talent Jacob Nielsen – through which he explores a new and more obscure sonic personality.

SORT SIND’s new track ‘Alert’ was released on The Acid Mind Recordings and inspired by the likes of Amotik, Alarico, Regent, Arnaud Le Texier, Ben Reymann, Stef Mendesidis, Lars Huismann, SHDW & Obscure Shape and many more, SORT SIND cuts a darkened and melodic line with his work – exploring the depths of electronic music with a hypnotic twist.

SORT SIND ARRIVES as a new package but comes with a wealth of experience, having performed across Europe under a different name for more than half a decade. Jacob’s earlier musical pursuits saw him frequent lineups at KB18, Culture Box and Ved Siden Af in his native Denmark – as well as other venues in Sweden & the Czech Republic.

Taking time during the unfathomable global pandemic to create and launch a new alias, SORT SIND comes to the table with a refined and intriguing artistic palate that offers a deeper and more searching approach to electronic music than ever before.

Building on many years of performance experience, SORT SIND now serves as a platform to bridge the gap as he focuses on musical production to add an intrinsic element to his performances. Giving dancefloor revellers an intimate insight into his creative capabilities and preference for inner-speaking melodies and quirky details.

With all of the pieces of the puzzle beginning to fall into place under a new silhouette, SORT SIND steps forward into the world of electronic music with a clear vision and bolstered ethics to match, making him an exciting name to earmark for the future.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

It’s always hard to pick a favourite track as a DJ! But if i have to choose one that stands out for me, it must be FORUM – Pentacle 2 which i’ve used a lot lately. Sounds so sexy on a big sound system!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

There is no special ingredient. But I have recently started to play with three players which gives me the opportunity to layer tracks – this makes mixing way more fun and it’s easier to keep momentum in your mixes!

Tell us about your next EP.

Right now I am working with a Copenhagen-based label: Pure Echo. An EP with 3 tracks on its way. 3 aggressive tracks made for clubs! Raw, energetic, hypnotic and groovy!

What have you got coming up?

I am currently looking forward to play at Culture Box with Ena Cosovic and Josefine Hellström. Culture Box was one of the first techno clubs and the atmosphere is always super special.
