265 – Joseph Capriati

Share

Joseph Capriati is one the biggest new names to appear on the Techno scene, Capriati’s progression from newcomer to headliner has been phenomenal since he first appeared in 2007. He’s put out original productions such as; The Gallery, Psycology and Vesuvio on the Drumcode label and he’s remixed the likes of; Adam Beyer (Drumcode), DJ Pierre (Bush) and Funk D’Void. As a DJ he has a CV that is second to none playing at big festivals like Spain’s ‘Awakenings’ festival and Dave Clarke’s White Noise party at ADE and playing the Drumcode Halloween Fright Night at The Great Suffolk St Warehouse on Saturday 27th October… Sum up this podcast in 10 words… Sixty minutes of my soul for your bodies and minds! What¹s your personal favourite track on it?It is hard to pick out just one track but I would say the one that i think is really special is the last track – Adam Beyer – The Color Out Of Space – which was released recently as part of Drumcode’s 100th release. Being the labels 100th release makes it special but Adam really delivered a truly memorable track that sounds very unique. It is a perfect last track with its big melody but loads of energy for people to go crazy to! What¹s the special ingredient in this mix?I really enjoyed doing this mix as I think it neatly sums up the varied techno and tech house style I like to play when I get to play long sets but squeezed into one hour, so I would say the special ingredient would be the variety of house and techno flavours blended together in one style. What¹s the best gig you¹ve played recently? This is very difficult to answer as all of my shows over the summer have been amazing with lots of big festivals like Tomorrowland, Monegros and Awakenings as well as very memorable shows at great clubs like Inox in Toulose, Doornroosje in Nijmegen and Pacha in Oporto but if I have to pick one then I am going to cheat a little and say the five shows I played for Marco Carola’s Music On parties at Amnesia in Ibiza. Each time I played was better than the last with the final gig at the season closing party being simply incredible. Over the summer many people came to the shows wondering what to expect and from what I saw they all left really happy and the people really brought an amazing vibe to the parties. What Marco has created with Music On is very special and everyone involved should be very proud of what they have achieved in the first year. They are my Ibiza family and I can’t wait to do it all again next summer, if they invite me back. What have you got coming up?Right now I am locked away in my studio in Barcelona taking a break from a really intense week of writing new music. This has been the first week since May that Ive had the time to focus on writing music and so I really enjoying being able to release all the musical inspiration I have stored up from a busy Summer of touring. So far I have managed to complete a few tracks which I am saving for my forthcoming album on Drumcode, that I hope to have ready to release in February, and I am also working on two remixes; one for a proper techno hero of mine, Ben Sims, and one for fellow Neapolitan, Luigi Madonna which will be released on Markantonio’s Analytic Trail label. When I escape from the studio I have some exciting gigs lined up in October with shows in Amsterdam for the Drumcode party at ADE, a short tour of Argentina and then I end the month with the annual Drumcode warehouse party in London which is always one of THE parties of the year. Then I play at my favourite Italian club, Cocorico, on Halloween which will be a crazy party with Chris Leibing, Adam Beyer, Ben Klock, Marcel Deetman and Len Faki.   And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?Well I think this is the first time I have gotten to do something with DataTransmisson so I would like to say thank you for having me and also a big thank you to all my UK fans who have always given me so much energy when I have played there. I look forward to partying with you again if you are coming to the Drumcode show in London on Saturday 27th October or my gig at Third Door in Edinburgh on Friday 26th October.  Tracklisting

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
