DBL-C – Top 5 Plugins That Are Shaping My Sound for October 2019

Share

DBL-C, the seasoned Canadian producer now based in London, UK brings to the scene a fresh proposition that has been in the making for some time. Not only a producer, but he’s also the head of Back It Up Records and an expert DJ. DBL-C’s experience and know-how propel him to deliver unique productions and sets that entice the senses. If not the only one, perhaps one of the few DJ’s with the needed understanding of groove and skill to fuse house and tech house in an immaculate seamless manner… as if they always belonged together.

His DJ sets open new possibilities from a different perspective. His charisma is soft-spoken and tentative. When he’s behind the decks in a very unselfish way, he will take you on a journey that is about you, your vibe and what you are feeling, therefore, leaving you on a new level of high!

With the release of “Dancing Not Over”, we ask him to pick the plugins shaping his sound right now.

1. Future Audio Workshop Sublab

Future Audio Workshop’s Sublab is a synthesizer plugin I’m really loving at the moment. It has all the tools I need to create punchy sub-bass that sounds amazing. My favourite feature is the X-Sub engine. It is a psychoacoustic sub-bass oscillator which gives you a “deeper, fatter sub”.

2. Soundtoys Decapitator

Soundtoys Decapitator is one of my go-to plugins for saturation. It emulates five different pieces of analog hardware and is perfect for adding character to my mixes. Whether subtle or extreme, I use it on everything…drums, bass, vocals and synths. This is a must have for your studio.

3. Soundtoys EchoBoy

Soundtoys Echoboy is one of my favourite echo/delay plug-ins and is an industry-standard. It can be used on any type of sound as is extremely powerful and versatile. However, I mainly use it on vocals and percussion. It has a unique Rhythm Echo mode which allows me to create my own grooves with the built-in rhythm editor.

4. Accusonus Regroover Pro

Regroover Pro is a great tool to extract elements from a loop. For example – kick, snare, hats or percussion. It will split the audio files into separate tracks, which I can then create my own drum kits or create new loop variations.

5. Cableguys HalfTime

Great half-speed effect with a simple and clean UI. I use this on percussive loops and samples. It has 9 different loop lengths which allows me to come up with new rhythms.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
