DBL-C, the seasoned Canadian producer now based in London, UK brings to the scene a fresh proposition that has been in the making for some time. Not only a producer, he’s also the head of Back It Up Records and an expert DJ.

DBL-C’s experience and know-how propel him to deliver unique productions and sets that entice the senses. If not the only one, perhaps one of the few DJ’s with the needed understanding of groove and skill to fuse house and tech house in an immaculate seamless manner… as if they always belonged together. His DJ sets open new possibilities from a different perspective. His charisma is soft-spoken and tentative. When he’s behind the decks in a very unselfish way, he will take you on a journey that is about you, your vibe and what you are feeling, therefore, leaving you on a new level of high!

With the release of “Dancing Not Over”, we ask him to pick his top plugin picks for January 2020.

1. Sonarworks Reference 4 Headphone Edition

Sonarworks Reference 4 Headphone Edition has become an indispensable tool when it comes to my mixdowns. As my room is currently untreated, I’ve had to resort to mixing with headphones. Reference 4 is a calibration system that removes unwanted colouration so you can get a flat, accurate representation of your music. Since acquiring this software, it has given me the confidence to trust what I hear in my headphones and has improved my mixing. Without a doubt, a must-buy!

2. u-he Colour Copy

Colour Copy is one of my favourite delay plugins at the moment. It sounds absolutely amazing! It produces a nice colour in the delay and feedback tail. Colour Copy works really well on vocals and synths but can be used on pretty much everything. The simplicity and versatility are key factors for me.

3. FabFilter Saturn

Another useful tool in my arsenal is FabFilter’s Saturn. A multi-band saturation and distortion plugin with sixteen different distortion types ranging from subtle analogue saturation to the most extreme bit crushing. When I need something to cut through a mix or looking to add some grit to a track, I can always rely on Saturn to deliver.

4. Audiomodern Playbeat

Audiomodern Playbeat is a creative groove randomizer that allows me to load in my own samples and generate endless beats and patterns. It’s a great tool to experiment with especially with percussion. You can definitely spend hours with it as no two patterns are the same.

5.  Sonnox Oxford Limiter V3

This is my favourite limiter at the moment and is always present at the end of my mastering chain. I love how it maintains the dynamics while increasing the perceived loudness. It has more transparency and more punch in comparison to other limiters I have in my arsenal. It just has a vibe to it.

A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
