Data Transmission Celebrates 17 Years in Dance Music
Share
Seventeen years ago, Data Transmission was born from a passion for dance music, a love for discovering fresh talent, and a desire to support artists in reaching their full potential. What started as a blog has grown into a multifaceted platform covering every corner of the electronic music world, from house and tech house to drum & bass, disco, and deep tech. Over the years, we’ve interviewed thousands of artists, premiered nearly 8,000 tracks, and published more than 40,000 articles, all in the name of championing the music we love.
At the heart of DT is a dedication to helping artists, whether that’s through sharing their music with the world, offering insights on the industry, or providing hands-on feedback in our demo sessions. In the past decade, we’ve helped countless DJs and producers move from their bedrooms to touring globally, signing record deals, and building their personal brands. Our demo feedback sessions have become a cornerstone of this mission, creating a space for artists to refine their sound, gain industry insights, and get their music heard by key players.
Our record labels have also grown into distinct brands supporting artists at all levels: Data Transmission (house & tech house from bigger artists), DT WEAPONS (tech house floor-fillers from emerging talent), 63B (deep tech & minimal), DT DNB (drum & bass & jungle), and Disco Infiltrators (disco, nu-disco, and 130 disco house). These imprints allow us to not only support new artists but also showcase the music that drives dance floors worldwide.
Beyond the blog and labels, DT Radio has become a force in its own right, providing a platform for over 160 show hosts to share their sound with a dedicated global audience. Our radio station is a hub for underground music, breaking new talent and giving DJs a place to be heard.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of being the first to write about artists who are now household names, spotting their potential before the rest of the world caught on. We’ve also taken our passion to the live stage, hosting events at legendary venues like Space Ibiza, as well as major festivals from Hideout and Parklife to more recent showcases at Hidden Festival in Milton Keynes.
For me, 17 years later, I still wake up every day excited to discover new music, support emerging talent, and help artists reach their goals. Running Data Transmission has meant 100-hour work weeks, countless hours of listening to demos, writing about the scene, and connecting with the people who make it thrive. But seeing artists succeed, grow their careers, and breakthrough makes every moment worth it.
A massive shout-out to our incredible team and everyone who has been part of this journey over the years. From the writers, radio hosts, and event teams to the artists who trust us with their music—thank you for being part of the Data Transmission story.
Here’s to the next chapter!
Thanks, Grahame & Shelley xx
