‘Mind Games’ is the latest Drum & Bass single from Invalid, featuring the soulful vocals of Lina Hrams. It’s a deep, emotive track that explores love, uncertainty, and inner struggles, with Lina’s stunning vocals bringing every word to life. Her harmonies glide over rolling beats and rich soundscapes, creating the perfect balance between vulnerability and strength. Mixing elements of soul, electronica, and modern D&B, this international collab dropped on DNB United Records on Friday, 14th February 2025.

Founded by BC#9, DNB United Records has been pushing Drum & Bass and Jungle culture forward since 2013. What started as a platform for interviews, reviews, and guest mixes has grown into a respected boutique label with nearly 100 releases. Supporting all shades of D&B and Jungle, the label stays true to its underground roots while continuing to evolve.

Invalid /ˈinvələd/ is a North American producer and a key figure at DNB United Records. He kicked things off with the label’s first release, ‘So Alive’, and has been shaping its sound ever since—both as an artist and behind the scenes. With over 15 years in sound design and live production, he brings drumming, programming, and songwriting together to craft a unique D&B experience. In 2025, he’s stepping things up with an international collab, a music video, and U.S. tour dates.

Lina Hrams is a Moldova-born vocalist and songwriter with a sound that effortlessly blends Amapiano, R&B, soul, synthpop, and electronic music. Her wide vocal range and deeply introspective lyrics give her songs a raw, emotional feel—like a conversation about love, identity, and human connection. With a full-length album on the way, Lina is definitely an artist to keep on your radar.

Translated Song Lyrics:

Mind Games cover

My head is covered in fog
Again, is it worth it?
Is this deception
To become history?

I’m hanging out,
After all, this song is not about us
And there are many such stories
And while I’m in heaven
You’re looking for meanings here in words
After all, this is a world of allegories

I’m so in love
That I don’t see the end
Although I understand with my mind,
That you don’t need me
And alone in the labyrinths
I play your games

My head is covered in fog
Again, is it worth it?
Is this deception
To become history?

And if there is no place for the soul
Then tell me, tell me honestly
And if there is no place for the soul
This is not love

Emily Makis and Lens have joined forces for their explosive new single, ‘Danger Zone’. As two of the most exciting female talents in Drum & Bass, they’re set to shake up dancefloors and festival stages with their high-energy sound. Packed with vibrant basslines, heavy drops, and relentless energy, this track is a sign of big things to come. Makis is kicking off a huge year after being named one of BBC Radio 1’s Future Stars for 2025, cementing her place as one to watch.

2024 was a breakthrough year for Makis—she performed as a special guest for Becky Hill at the OVO Arena Wembley, played Glastonbury, and delivered high-energy DJ sets across the globe. Now, her collab with Lens is set to push her even further as one of the leading voices in the scene.

Known for her dynamic sound and unmistakable vocals, Makis has become one of the most recognisable names in modern Drum & Bass. DJ Mag has described her voice as ‘heavenly’ and ‘enthralling’, and her toplines have defined some of the genre’s biggest anthems. While she grew up in Nottingham, it’s her Greek-Cypriot heritage that has shaped her unique, emotive style. Whether delivering poetic lyrics over liquid rollers or rave-ready anthems, storytelling is always at the heart of her music.

WonderlandMakis’ signature attitude, vigor, and vocal range complement Dux N Bass’ wild production flawlessly, creating an electrifying sonic experience.”

Daily Star “Known for bangers such Phoneline and High Note, Emily has been cruising her way through the genre – popping up here, there and everywhere, whether it’s on a new collab or on a festival lineup.”

UKF – “Drum & Bass has been blessed with an onslaught of incredibly talented vocalists being thrown into the forefront of the genre in recent years. Nottingham-based Emily Makis is, without doubt, one of those who has made the most meteoric of impacts.”

Her rise has been unstoppable. She won ‘Best Vocalist’ at the Drum & Bass Awards, took home ‘Best Track’ at the Youth Music Awards, and was nominated for DJ Mag’s ‘Best Vocalist’. Her 2023 collab with Pola & Bryson, ‘Phoneline’, racked up over 20 million streams, and she co-wrote Becky Hill and Chase & Status’ massive hit ‘Disconnect’, which hit #6 in the UK charts.

As she continues to evolve, the next 12 months will see Makis exploring fresh sounds while staying true to her roots. With more releases, huge festival bookings, and a growing global following, this is just the beginning.

Lens & Emily Makis ‘Danger Zone’ dropped on Elevate Records on Friday on all platforms, you can check it out below and get your hands on a copy here!

BC#9, also known as Jason Bakes, is a DJ and producer from Denver, Colorado, USA. A touring musician since 1986, he has built a reputation for blending organic and digital elements to create fresh, innovative sounds. He’s also the founder and host of ‘The United State of Drum+Bass’ podcast.

His debut Drum & Bass album, ‘Aquasonica’, featured standout tracks like ‘Going On’ and ‘Liquid Blue’, earning both critical and commercial success. He followed up with releases like ‘Jungle Mind,’ ‘Massive,’ and ‘Sound Boy Killa,’ solidifying his place in the jungle scene. Most recently, BC#9 collaborated with Bristol-based outfit Paper Dragon on ‘Unity Gain’. Remixes of the track by Dope Ammo and Kravitz, and a version featuring Jasmine Knight’s vocals are set to drop soon.

Having spent time in the UK during the ’90s, BC#9 witnessed the rise of Jungle, Drum & Bass and Hardcore firsthand, falling in love with the sound and culture. This deep connection led him to establish DnB United Records, a platform dedicated to celebrating the art, culture, and evolution of Drum & Bass and Jungle worldwide.

Founded in 2013 as a hub for artist interviews, album reviews, and guest mixes, DnB United Records has grown into a team of industry professionals supporting releases across the scene. Now also a record label, it’s home to BC#9, Invalid, and Lina Hrams, helping to push the genre forward on a global scale.

Today BC#9 joins our Renegade Riddims series with a mix curated for the dance floor so it’s the perfect start to your weekend! Featuring music from artists such as A.M.C, Culture Shock, Sota, Sub Focus, Kings Of The Rollers, MUZZ, Andy C, Pendulum, June Miller, Junk Mail and more!

Johannesburg’s own Sol Pillars is back with his latest release, ‘Grey Area’—the second drop on his new imprint, Soul Link Music. Following up from ‘Thunder Funk,’ this one’s all about high-energy sound design and heavyweight basslines, pushing his signature rhythm-driven style even further.

After seven years in the game, Sol Pillars has cemented himself in South Africa’s underground music scene. He’s played a big role behind the scenes too, managing the legendary AND Club and helping shape the long-running Science Frikshun brand. As a DJ, he’s a regular at club nights across Johannesburg, from AND Club to some of the country’s biggest festivals like Twilight Festival (JHB), Earth Dance (JHB), and The Jungle (CPT).

On the production front, he’s been making waves beyond South Africa, releasing music on respected labels like Calibrate Records (UK) and Locked Concept (AUS). ‘Grey Area’ takes things up a notch, fusing acid synths—often found in trance and psytrance—with the heavy-hitting drums and basslines that make Drum & Bass so electrifying. The track builds up to a relentless 4/4 drop, packed with machine-gun bass that’s built to tear up dancefloors.

Away from the studio, Sol Pillars has also launched Open Signal, a new event series with two close friends. It kicked off with a launch party at Cape Town’s Modular Precinct in December 2024, and there’s plenty more to come. With a focus on deep, immersive Drum & Bass and top-tier sound, Open Signal is all about pushing SA’s underground music culture forward.

Check out our premiere of Sol Pillars ‘Grey Area’ below. The track drops on Friday 14th February, you can get your hands on a copy from here!

Vessel isn’t just a DJ—she’s a vibe architect, a selector who knows exactly how to ignite a dancefloor. Fusing dark, rolling beats with high-energy steppers, her sets are a masterclass in movement, effortlessly shifting between Drum & Bass, speed garage, breakbeat, dubstep/140, jungle, trance, and techno. No matter the genre, she flips it in a way that leaves you wishing you were there. Her style is all about energy—raw, relentless, and impossible to ignore.

Her journey started four years ago, locked away in her bedroom, learning the craft after getting hooked on the energy of house parties and raves. What began as a passion quickly turned into a mission. Vessel dedicated herself to the art of selection and mixing, refining her skills and developing a sound that cuts through the noise. It wasn’t long before she found herself behind the decks at proper raves, where she quickly made an impression with her ability to command a crowd.

Now, she’s shelling down stages alongside heavyweights like Bou, Serum, S.P.Y, Shy FX, Annix, and Hybrid Minds, lighting up events like Hidden Festival, Forbidden Forest, and beyond. Whether it’s a sweaty underground rave or a festival main stage, she brings the same relentless energy, reading the crowd and keeping the momentum rolling. Her reputation for high-octane sets and seamless blends has earned her a place among the rising forces in the scene.

But DJing is just the beginning. 2025 is all gas, no brakes. With production in the works and deeper roots in the underground, Vessel is ready to take things to the next level. Expect the unexpected—genre-fluid sets, new releases, and bigger shows that push boundaries. She’s not just following trends; she’s creating moments that stick with you long after the night ends.

Today Vessel joins us on Renegade Riddims for the second time. She’s now a resident DJ with On The Decks (OTD) based here in Milton Keynes, where you can regularly catch her on the stage and in the crowd at Unit Nine. This is also the second in a run of mixes from residents on the evergrowing brand, with the first from D-M last month. Vessel’s skills and sound have made great progress since the previous mix she did for us and we’re excited to see and hear more from her as she steps into production!

Vessel’s new mix features music from artists such as Black Yukon Sucker Punch, NC-17, Kasra, Noisia, The Sauce, Monty, Kidsonic, Universal Project and loads more!

Counterpoint Recordings presents ‘Spill’, the upcoming EP by British-Danish duo Octavate.

Stepping further into the scene, Octavate have crafted a signature style that blends meticulous sound design with unique musical progression, all while maintaining a strong focus on groove. Their trademark sound—marked by bold switch-ups, unexpected details, and twisted vocal treatments—is one we believe will soon be turning heads across the scene.

‘Spill’, the EP’s title track, brings a jump-up groove with a raw, dancefloor-ready energy. Deep-voiced vocal hits, an electric bassline, and cinematic drum-break transitions tie the track together, delivering something both sleazy and effortlessly cool. It’s a proper rave weapon, built for impact.

With ‘Kill Em’ and ‘Spill’ setting the stage, the ‘Spill’ EP lays down a bold statement of intent. Across four tracks, Octavate balance a sense of dread and tension with stratospheric soundscapes and razor-sharp, groove-driven drumwork. Precision-engineered sound design, dramatic switch-ups, and warped vocal textures make for a release that’s as forward-thinking as it is dancefloor-ready.

Adding further depth to the project is a special remix of ‘Detritus’, originally created as a collaboration between the two members of Octavate—Exult and Coop. Deep, bass-heavy, and atmospheric, it revisits their sonic roots, showcasing their early creative process.

With a futuristic aesthetic and a sound that feels both current and ahead of its time, Octavate are cementing their place in the Drum & Bass underground. The ‘Spill’ EP isn’t just a milestone—it’s a statement of intent from a duo who are only getting started.

Today we premiere ‘Keep Me From The Light’ which you can check out below. Octavate drop their ‘Spill’ EP on Friday 7th February, you can grab copy here!

Ego-Free Sequences has been steadily carving out a distinct presence in the underground Drum & Bass scene, known for his intricate sound design, immersive atmospheres, and genre-blurring approach. With a background rooted in experimental electronic music, his productions often fuse deep, hypnotic textures with raw, driving rhythms. His work embodies a forward-thinking ethos, balancing technical precision with emotive depth, making each release a journey rather than just a collection of tracks.

Both ‘Headshell’ and ‘Relent’ originate from the same sonic palette, sharing many of the same drum elements and patches. ‘Relent’ took shape first, built around a layered old-school acid synth patch that weaves through the mix. A continually shifting high-end filter interacts with a deep, intense sub, locking into a half-time drum pattern to create a tech-driven groove that hits with force. Devashish’s haunting mantra-like vocals are pitched up and arranged in a loose collage, adding emotional depth and a natural cadence to the unfolding narrative. Reece and hoover synths punctuate the track, injecting classic rave elements that contrast and complement the atmosphere, driving the energy forward.

‘Headshell’ emerges from the same foundation but takes on a subtly distinct character. The acid synth line is adjusted to bring a playful bounce to the groove, this time built around a dancehall-influenced structure, raising the energy and enhancing the dancefloor appeal. This track is all about the relentless build. Carefully placed shakers and percussive hits weave in and out of pounding, industrial-tinged drums. A dramatic orchestral hit serves as a pre-chorus moment, launching into a gnarly main section where metallic snares slide between hoovers, heightening the tension. The momentum continues to rise as additional percussion elements propel the track into a full-throttle second act, switching grooves before the breakdown and returning with full force to close.

This release further cements Ego-Free Sequences as an artist unafraid to explore the outer edges of Drum & Bass, seamlessly blending deep atmospheres with high-impact sonics. With a growing catalogue that showcases a meticulous ear for sound design and a clear passion for pushing boundaries, his productions continue to resonate with listeners who appreciate both depth and dancefloor functionality.

Today we premiere ‘HEadshell’ which you can check out below. The 2 tracker dropped today (Friday 31st January) and is available for you to get your hands on here!

One of London’s best venues fabric has announced the long-awaited upgrade to its legendary Room 1 BodyKinetic dancefloor, marking the final step in the Room 1 sound system overhaul. This project kicked off in 2024 as part of the massive ‘fabric25’ celebrations and continues the club’s 25-year partnership with Martin Audio. Now, Room 1 is taking things to the next level, pushing boundaries in immersive sound.

For the first time since 1999, the world’s first BodyKinetic dancefloor has had a major upgrade, completely reimagining how crowds experience sound and vibration. Working with Powersoft, fabric has introduced cutting-edge Movers—high-tech linear transducers—designed to make the music feel even more intense. The new system delivers way more power and precision, creating an ultra-immersive, haptic experience that lets dancers connect with the music on a whole new level.

The original sound design for Room 1 featured a groundbreaking and advanced dance floor, incorporating Bodysonic transducers. These transducers resonated the floor with silent subharmonics that travelled through the body. Combined with a quadraphonic speaker setup and impeccable audio processing from the DJ booth, the system was ahead of its time. Keith Reilly and Dave Parry established themselves with the forward-thinking club design they introduced 25 years ago. Staying true to our heritage, we chose to retrofit and refine the original system rather than replace it entirely.

We knew the newly refurbished Room 1 sound system wouldn’t be complete without upgrading the floor as well. We’ve been working tirelessly to make this happen. Installation began immediately after the New Year’s Day show, with the full technical team involved and years of planning and design behind it.

Arguably unnecessary? Perhaps. But we believe it’s worth it.”  Matt Smith – fabric Technical Manager

The Tech Behind It

Powersoft’s system is a game-changer, needing just 36 units instead of the 450+ transducers used in the old setup. Unlike traditional systems where copper coils move inside a magnetic field, these Movers flip the process—moving the magnet within the coils. The result? More power, better reliability, and a stronger physical connection to the music. They also use way less energy, making them a huge leap forward in tactile sound technology.

Accessibility Through Vibration

One of the most exciting parts of this upgrade is how it makes music more accessible for the Deaf community. By turning sound into vibrations, the dancefloor allows people to feel the music in a whole new way. fabric is working with Deaf Rave to fine-tune the system, making sure it delivers the best experience possible for those with hearing impairments.

Sound Meditations at fabric

The new dancefloor also sets the stage for something completely different—Mastery Quantum Sound, a series of events blending meditation and electronic music. Quantum Sound first landed at fabric in March 2024, with Daniel Avery performing an ambient live set to a crowd lying down, eyes closed, alongside an immersive sound journey from Cherub Sanson and Tim Wheater. Now, Quantum Sound is officially teaming up with fabric for a residency running from 25th February to June 2025.

Across five events, artists like Hannah Holland, Flora Yin Wong, Wata Igarashi, and Jennifer Loveless will explore the deeper side of sound, with a special guest closing the series. The final event will take things even further, mixing live music with Cherub and Tim’s sound healing expertise for a unique fusion of club culture and wellness.

Tickets are limited, so sign up now for early access. fabric and Quantum Sound will also be reserving free tickets for members of the Deaf community. CLICK HERE

The new dancefloor is now open to the public and is fully functioning in Room 1, so get yourself down to an event and check it out asap!! Check out their What’s On page here
