Sibling Duo Funk Cartel Drop Debut Release On Nature Records

Share

Sibling duo Funk Cartel are set to release their debut release on WAFF’s Nature Records on 31st May.

The London-born siblings’ high-octane performances mirror that of their studio output with the pair forever focused on concocting groove-laden rhythms and addictive melodies that are prime for dance floors. Following well-supported releases on Hottrax and Eastenderz, Funk Cartel now arrives on wAFF’s Nature Records.

Positive vibes flow early and continue to cascade through this jaunty, tech-house offering from Funk Cartel. ‘Imprints’ is significantly darker and where its predecessor revels in hands-in-the-energy, here it’s about heads-down grooving. A rolling snare and clap combination sets the tone before a taut bass and chopped vocal takes the track on a neon-illumined trip through grittier musical pastures.

As their name suggests, Funk Cartel’s music is made to jive too.

On ‘Incognito’, the pair stray slightly from the tech-house blueprint to include shades of breakbeat slinking in ever so subtlety before tumbling stabs of strobe-lit bass overthrow all that has gone before.

‘Stick Together’ begins with a chunky bass, shuffling effects and an electro-infused melody, the beat swiftly develops to make way for an intoxicated vocal line which takes centre stage.

‘Let Go’ is as synth heavy as anything else on this EP and incorporates a slickly constructed bass alongside snappy percussion and whirling mix of vocals and vivid FX that have been dispersed impeccably throughout.

Each of the 5-tracks on offer are characterised by distinct vocal samples and the EP’s finale, titled ‘Come On Already’ booms with smooth, rounded bass and jazzy overtones. Springing into action by way of a zealous vocal loop and samples of applause a wiggling synth is let loose late on making for a quirky, uplifting dance cut to open the EP.

‘Imprints’ is available from the 31st May on wAFF’s Nature Records and we premiere ‘Incognito’ on Data Transmission, check it out here and grab it on Beatport.
