By now the dance music community is no stranger to the story behind ‘the birthplace of techno’, but the city of Detroit provides a pleasant reminder every Memorial Day weekend.

For more than a decade Movement has gained global recognition as one of the leading festivals in the US.  Year after year satisfied festival-goers from across the globe pour into Hart Plaza by the thousands… maybe it’s because Movement feels more like one-big-kick-ass-party, rather than a “festival”.

A serene mixture of the greatest names in dance music, intimate water-front stages (plus the not-so-intimate underground stage that we love), a down-to-earth crowd, 3D art installations, and a sound system that might make your heart burst — mix it all together for an inimitable music experience praised by artists and attendees alike…

“I am really looking forward to coming back to the home of Techno, it’s been a few years now since I was there last, but I can finally say, I am coming back”,  “I always have so much fun, with my DJ peers and the party people. I cannot wait to rock the dance floor once again. See you soon.” – Carl Cox

We’re still waiting for the final lineup, but phase 2 solidifies the gravity of the event with Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, and TESTPILOT (a.k.a Deadmau5) closing this year’s festivities. Earlier this week Richie Hawtin announced his 2017 show ‘CLOSE – Spontaneity & Synchronicity’, an immersive audio-visual show that explores the relationship between human creativity and the innovative technologies in electronic music. Deadmau5 is performing under his moniker Testpilot and he’s bringing cube2.1 with him. Last time Testpilot surfaced was back at SXSW festival in 2013 where he played back-to-back with Richie Hawtin. And Carl Cox needs no formal introduction because he’s basically king of the electronic music world.

More artists to add to this year’s mix-mash of space oddity funk, soul, house, techno and all in-betweens are: Adam Beyer, Audion, Barclay Crenshaw, Ben Klock, Ben Sims B2B Truncate, Cajmere, The Belleville Three, Carl Craig PRESENTS Versus Synthesizer Ensemble, Cassy, Chris Liebing, Danny Brown, Death in Vegas, Dixon, DJ Harvey, Dusky, DVS1, Early Sweatshirt, Factory Floor, Function, Glaslamp Killer, Heidi, Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, Josh Wink, Juciy J, Kai Alcé, Kerri Chandler, Kevin Saunderson as E-Dancer, Larry Heard AKA Mr. Fingers, Mathew Jonson, Michael Mayer, Mind Against, Mount Kimbie, Nicole Moudaber, Octave One, Paco Osuna, Pan-Pot, Patrick Topping B2B Nathan Barato, Recondite, Red Axes, Robert Hood, Seth Troxler, Shiba San, Soul Clap feat. Amp Fiddler, Stacey Pullen, Sterac, Survive, Thundercat, PLUS SO MANY MORE!

In addition to the names we know and love, festival producer Paxahau always pays homage to hometown pride with a stage dedicated to local and up-and-coming talent. Over three unforgettable days, enjoy a tidy blend of magical, mystical, bass-heavy soundscapes.

We’ll keep you up-to-date on the final lineup once it’s released. Visit Movement’s official site to buy single-day and 3-day passes while they’re still available.
